Dads room is bright and clean and look's freshly decorated. Staff have been excellent. Home has a very nice garden and the carers take the trouble to get dad outside in a wheelchair. Grasmere has exceeded my expectations.

Whenever I visit my dad is clean and clean shaven. The staff are very friendly and helpful. His room is always clean but I marked 'satisfactory' as it is very small. I haven't marked food as I have only seen him offered an egg sandwich which I'm sure is due to timing, and he does not go downstairs for
activities so I am unaware of any. I would prefer him to go downstairs so he has mental stimulation rather than be left in his room all day. All this said, I am so so grateful that he is in a home where he is looked after and is safe and clean. He seems to like it there and likes most of the staff.
Reply from Team of Grasmere, All Staff at Grasmere Nursing HomeThank you so much for your kind words. Dad does not like to go downstairs (as you know) but he does get activities in his room( if he feels like it.)

We are very pleased that our mum is happy in Grasmere Nursing Home. Every time we visit her she tells us:- 'This is my home and I'm very well looked after. I'm not complaining and I'm not going anywhere!' We can she that she is! She is always clean. Her room and bedding is always clean. The room never
smells. The staff are very caring and friendly to mom and us when we visit. So we are very happy and don't have to worry. Thank you.
Reply from Team of Grasmere, Staff at Grasmere Nursing HomeThank you Lesley , for the kind words and for taking the time to do the review.Mum certainly lets us know everyday that this is her Home, so we won't forget it!

My wife has been in Grasmere for over three years. I have found it to be a safe and caring home. The staff are friendly, approachable and 'listening'. They clearly put residents first. My wife has dementia is settled and content there. My family and I are equally happy and content with the care! They
now feel like part of my family!

I wish I could give higher marks. All the staff are friendly, caring and compassionate.....what more do you want? We all got to know their names and it felt like they are a big happy family. Nothing was too much trouble. Mum feels the cold and one day they had got a big duvet for her, she looked so
cosy in it. The rooms are clean and bright and the lounge area is welcoming. The gardens are well maintained and the magnolia tree is just stunning! Mum recently left us, and saying goodbye to the staff was also quite emmotional. Big hugs all round. I am sure we could not have chosen a better place for my wonderful mum.
Reply from Kareen Rajan, Director at Grasmere Nursing HomeThank you for your kind words Judy. We loved looking after your mum, and you are a wonderful family, I'm sure she is very proud of you all.Don't forget to pop in for a coffee and a chat when you in the neighbourhood.

It has been a pleasure to have my nan in Grasmere nursing home.
I like how calm it feels upon entering and also very clean.
The staff are always very smiley and friendly making sure my nan's needs were attended to.
Even though my nan was too poorly to do the activities with the activity lady,
she had some lovely pictures made for her by another resident which was really thoughtful and it's nice to know they put this on for the residents.
Great team and a well looked after home.
Thank you for caring for my nan and for being with her right till the time of her passing. This was important that she wasn't alone.
Thank you.

Grasmere is a clean, friendly, peaceful and welcoming nursing home.
Our nan age 92 had to go into a home straight from hospital as she was end of life.
Grasmere made her stay there very comfortable and attended to her needs with care and dignity even up to the end when she passed.
As we don't live
nearby this was very comforting for us knowing she was in the right care.
Main thing we liked is that it is a light and airy home and the room she was given was nice and bright which we know would be what she would choose.
Thank you to you all.

It was one of the hardest decisions we faced putting Mum into a home, and those first few steps walking into the home. I had to hold back tears, but once in the door all the staff members made us feel so welcome and the home just has such a great warm welcoming feeling. Since that day we haven't looked
back, Mum has so well cared for all the staff are so loving and caring and treat my mum with the utmost dignity. They know me and my family so well she is always clean and tidy and has put on weight we can't thank Grasmere Nursing Home.

I feel extremely relieved to have found Grasmere Nursing Home. It’s been three and half years since they took my mother in and the care and kindness she has received there has been superb. I feel that the manager and her team do everything they can, and more to ensure that the residents have the best
possible experience of being in care. I think it’s an exceptional place. I hear some terrible stories from my friends about their experiences of their relatives in residential care and am eternally grateful that mine are in Grasmere.

Grasmere is the jewel in the crown as far as myself and my four siblings think. Since our mum moved in, she has always been treated with the utmost care and respect which has also been extended to us as a family. All of the staff are warm and friendly, a cup of tea/coffee is always offered and the communication
between us is excellent. The home is clean and bright and the activities have always been superb. We couldn't be happier and it is a great weight off our shoulders that Mum is so well looked after.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.635)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.635) out of 10 for Grasmere Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.885 for Grasmere Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (101 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 113 Ratings = 4.885
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.75 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Grasmere Nursing Home is based on 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.75
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 20 registered maximum number of service users is 4, which has been reached with 10 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
