My mum has been at Stildon for 9 months now. She settled in so well and we all feel like it is a home from home for her. Not only do the staff take care of her everyday needs, they go above and beyond to keep her happy. I feel like the staff have really got to know mum as a person and she enjoys having a laugh with them and loves the social activities on offer which have really improved her sociability. Feedback in all areas is welcomed and acted upon.

I was so nervous about mum going into a care home, but I needn't have worried - I think she's so much happier now than she was when I was (trying) to look after her.

Thank you for your kind words. It is a pleasure to have your mum as part of the Stildon family, and her great sense of humour is enjoyed by both residents and staff alike. We were delighted to help make her recent wish-list trip happen and are so pleased it created some special memories for her.

My wonderful Nan attended brendoncare in November 2025. She loved her time here the nurses & carers and all members of staff went above and beyond with nan.
She loved her time here and loved everyone.
She treated this place as it was buckingham palace and how lucky she was to be here.

Thank you everyone for being so wonderful and giving nan the perfect care she needed xxx

Been admitted to Stildon in early April and have nothing but praise for the care and attention received. The food is varied and wonderful. Snacks plentiful. All the staff are very attentive and respond quickly to all my care needs. Nothing is too much for them. I find the management are very easy to talk to, and act quickly to your needs.

My Mother was a resident at Stildon for 3 years until she passed away there earlier this year. She was well cared for, the staff were friendly, caring, and catered for her own personal needs. She enjoyed the varied daily activities and made some good friends. The home was always clean and welcoming towards family members. The care and support she (and we ) received at the end were very compassionate and the staff were wonderful in ensuring that her final days were dignified and pain free. We could not have asked for more. Thank you Stildon.

My mum was welcomed warmly into Brendoncare Stildon, having fallen at home a few weeks eariler. She was in pain due to tendonitis, but soon received the medical care she needed and had a very comfortable room with walk in shower. The staff were friendly and approachable, mum made some friends there over the four weeks and joined in the many daily activities. The respite care was just what she needed.

Our father was admitted to Stildon nursing home after a month in hospital following a severe stroke. We always dreaded the day that this might happen to our fiercely independent dad. Right from the start the family felt reassured by the warm friendly attitude of all the staff. Combined with the professionalism of the nurses we knew we had found somewhere special. The personalised care supervised and coordinated by a designated lead nurse ensured that dad had the best support and comfort possible until he died peacefully a month later. Highly recommended.

We used Brendoncare Stildon for two weeks respite after a hospital stay for Mum. We found the home ourselves as the ones that had come recommended from the hospital team were not suitable. The staff were very welcoming and Mum was made to feel comfortable. The room was en-suite and spacious, clean and warm. Staff were friendly, meals delicious and lots of choices, activities every day if Mum wished to participate. Although it was only a short stay, I would not hesitate to use the home again.

There was no question of which local care home to choose for my stepfather as staff at Brendoncare Stildon had lovingly cared for my wife's mother, father and aunt. Mum came to Brendoncare Stildon in November 2023 at the age of 96, after a three-month stay in hospital. The care, consideration and love shown to my mum and to me and my family has been outstanding. All the staff, the cleaners, maintenance, reception, cooks, activity coordinators and managers, are all so friendly and caring and Mum feels so at home there. As time has gone on, Mum is not so able to join in as much as she did but the staff always check in on her frequently and stop for a chat, they go above and beyond. My sister and I and all the family are so pleased that we found Brendoncare Stildon and would definitely highly recommend them.

My father moved into one of the supported Mews flats just over two years ago. The flat was light and airy, with everything he needed to be self-sufficient while providing the confidence that help would be available if ever needed. From that start, all the staff were welcoming and attentive and Dad immediately felt at home in this happy and caring environment.

Recently, after a short stay in hospital resulting in a terminal prognosis, the admin staff went out of their way to facilitate his discharge back to a palliative care room at Brendoncare Stildon. Dad was so pleased to be able to return to the place where he felt so loved and cared for and the nursing staff were superb in ensuring he remained comfortable and peaceful in his final days. I cannot thank everyone enough for their professionalism, kindness and concern - both for Dad and for the family - throughout this period and would not hesitate to recommend Stildon.

Having viewed several nursing homes, we chose Stildon for my Mum as the staff we met were friendly and helpful, the room on offer was bright and clean, and the services and facilities seemed ideal. My, 100-year-old, Mum has been there for almost a year now and I have had no cause to regret the decision. The staff are cheerful, efficient and helpful. Mum's room is kept clean and we were able to personalise it with some of her possessions. She has food intolerances and difficulty eating but the chef has gone out of his way to tailor her menu to her needs. They arrange regular activities and entertainment which residents are encouraged, but not pressured, to join in with. All in all, I have no hesitation in recommending Stildon to anybody seeking a nursing or care home.

My dad was placed in this care home for end-of-life care. He was awarded CHC funding. My dad had already arrived at the care home and for some reason the funding was 'pending'. On arrival, the admin was very officious, uncaring and rude and demanded I pay £11,000 for the first month (I think) of care and wanted to know details of how much Dad's home was worth. As you can imagine, this was very stressful on top of what I was dealing with. My dad was dying. I was heartbroken and she only cared about this payment and gave me a deadline for paying it. Lucky for me, the district nurse just happened to be visiting and she summoned the management who sorted it out. From that day on, the admin did not speak to me or acknowledge me. I had to walk past her office daily to get to my dad's room.

The care my dad received was excellent, the staff were very very kind and supported me too. The manager did help with the admin situation and could not have been more lovely.

Reply from Annie Burisky, General Manager at Brendoncare Stildon

I am so sorry your experience with our administrator was not as it should be and didn't meet the high expectations of the home at this very difficult time for you. Mum came to Brendoncare Stildon in Nov 23 at the age of 94.
She was welcomed by everyone and we personalised her room to resemble her room at home as much as possible as well as the flowerbed outside her door where we planted a lot of her flowers from her own garden.
There is always some sort of activity but Mum chose to have lunch with everyone and then enjoy her afternoon in her room watching all the quizzes on the TV. But enjoyed any special parties, fetes, singers and really enjoyed a day at the races this year.
Mum was taken ill in September and admitted to hospital and told everyone she just wanted to get back to her lovely home.
When we knew it was the end of life, we just wanted to get her back to have her final days at the home but she was too ill to move and she passed away 30 hours later.

So thank you Stildon for making a very hard emotional time of putting Mum in a home a lot easier for us and for caring and loving Mum the way that you did.

My dad went to Stildon for end-of-life care. He had already stayed there for a few weeks respite earlier this year and the staff welcomed him and our family back as old friends. Dad was treated with such kindness and compassion in his last days, nothing was ever too much trouble. The nursing staff made sure he was free of pain and was comfortable. The manager always made time for a chat and made sure I was informed of what was happening with Dad's care. He came into Stildon from the hospital - where it was very busy and noisy - to the peace and tranquility of Stildon and it was as if he could finally relax and he slipped away peacefully and with dignity.

I have nothing but praise for the support I received from all the staff after Dad died. I would recommend Stildon to anyone looking for a friendly, caring, and homely place to look after their loved ones.

I have almost 20 years of experience in the care sector, starting out as a support worker and progressing to Registered Manager. I bring a wealth of hands-on expertise and leadership to Brendoncare Stildon. My journey has been driven by a deep commitment to delivering exceptional person-centred care, fostering team development and ensuring residents live with dignity and purpose.

Having managed diverse services including nursing homes, supported living and reablement services, I am passionate about embracing innovative care practices while maintaining the values at the heart of Brendoncare. I strive to create a warm, welcoming environment where both residents and staff feel valued and supported.

Outside of work, I enjoy staying active through regular gym sessions and bike rides, which help me maintain focus and energy in my professional life. I am thrilled to join the Brendoncare community and look forward to building on its reputation of excellent care.

I have been working in care for the last 20yrs. Initially I joined Brendoncare having been recruited from South Africa in 2004. I worked as registered nurse and later as team leader until 2010 when I left to became a registered manager of a Care Home in Crowborough, East Sussex.

In December 2021, I rejoined Brendoncare Stildon as deputy manager as I knew the home to be very homely and friendly. People here go out of their way to help and support residents, relatives and colleagues.

I am married and have 2 children and 2 grandchildren. I enjoy spending time with my family and walking my dogs.

Maria Thomas Job Title: Administrator Joined: 2022
Maria Thomas

I joined Stildon in June 2022 as the Receptionist and moved to the Administrator role in 2023, this is my first experience of working in a nursing home and I love the relationships that we have as a team with both the residents and relatives.

Working for a charity and answering to trustees rather than shareholders means that decisions are made with the residents’ best interests at heart. Sharing our Care for Life promise with prospective residents and families puts them at ease and they can relax knowing that their loved one will get the best of care for the rest of their life.

Outside work, I enjoy reading, paper crafts, listening to music, art and spending time with my family including my two grown up daughters.

Pauline James Job Title: Receptionist Joined: 2023

I joined Brendoncare Stildon in 2023. It was a total change to my working career as I’d only known the inside of an office before, so to be put at the forefront of the home meeting and greeting all our visitors has been a great change. If I’d have known what a positive step this was going to be, I would have done it sooner.

I’ve been married for 45 years and have two grown-up children and 5 grandchildren. We love spending time as a family creating memories - going on beach outings, holidays abroad, cinema and bowling, to name but a few. My husband and I also enjoy going to the theatre and football, be it premiership or supporting the local town team.

Sharon Oliver Job Title: Well-being Coordinator Joined: 2024
Sharon Oliver

Prior to joining Brendoncare, I worked as a legal PA for several years in London. I later worked in a similar Activities role in Tonbridge Wells but wanted to work closer to home. I joined Brendoncare in August 2023. I can honestly say that, compared to the office-based roles I’ve had (as interesting as they were), this is the best job I’ve had as it’s more person-centred and I much prefer to be working with people rather than paper!

In my spare time, I get involved in amateur dramatics including doing panto. I also enjoy dancing and practice yoga and Pilates.
