My Aunt, who recently passed away, was a resident for just over a year. Her room was cosy with everything she needed and a lovely view of woodland. All the staff who cared for my Aunt showed great dedication to their jobs. From Management to nurses, carers, wellbeing staff, catering and housekeeping,
all the of them treated her with dignity and kindness. They were always rewarded with a smile, or cheeky comment!
As a family we found my Aunts' Dementia challenging and upsetting at times and we appreciated every time a staff member acknowledged that and supported us with this journey.
Auntie's favourite thing was our visits to the in-house coffee lounge were we could chat over a hot drink and a slice of cake. It is here where we got to know other residents and their families. She also loved joining in the various activities organised by the wellbeing team.
We would not hesitate to recommend Otterbourne Hill.

Mum has been a resident at Otterbourne Hill since February 2023. I spent quite some time researching local care/nursing homes and was most impressed by the calm, efficient and caring atmosphere that greets you when you arrive at OH. This culture is evident throughout and all the staff are friendly,
supportive and unfailingly kind to residents and their families and friends.

Excellent, friendly service. Very well-trained team to help manage all conditions. My mother started in the independent living side, but as her condition worsened, the team were able to quickly move her to the dementia care unit. This has given us great peace of mind and made it easier for our mother
to adapt.

After extensive hunting this was definately the best care home in the area for my mother. Mum is easily bored, so required a place to keep her busy with her dementia. To keep a mass of people active, on a continued basis, you know it requires a team to do this.
The rooms are lovely, airy and clean.
It's ground floor and the garden doors are always unlocked so she is free to go outside when she chooses. She is in a safe space with staff who are responsive to her needs, and she can be herself, although even then she can feel a bit constricted. She has developed some wonderful friendships and my mother feels welcomed wherever she goes. The daytrips are best for her fitness and mental health. They are always looking for new ideas for her. At over one year, she's very comfortable and happy. It's lovely to see all her photos. She can be herself so I am looking forward to the day when mum says she is 'home'. Dementia care is evolving and Brendoncare continues to look to new ways of working.

The most overpowering feeling about Otterbourne Court when you go in is that of the love given by all of the staff. The smiling receptionists and welcoming people; the general cleanliness and tidiness shown by the cleaners; the smiling faces when you arrive in my Mum's section; the way that Mum has
been cared for in all her personal needs; the presentation of food carefully prepared and often replaced with something else if not liked; the pleasant aspect of the garden from Mum's window; the time spent with her by staff holding her hand and listening to her stories of childhood when they have the opportunity; the patience of all the carers who help when Mum she doesn't hear or understand a word that they are saying; the kindliness and sensitivity of the nurses when treating a very old person with dementia. I feel confident that they are all there for her when she most needs them.

I feel so blessed that my mother is in this home, being cared for by staff that know her well. This familiarity enables them to pick up on changes within my mum's health quickly. The carers take great pride in their work, ensuring my mum looks her best each day. The staff from all disciplines ( carers,
nurses, catering, maintenance, household, laundry, activities, reception, administration, management) are without fail, friendly and helpful to both mum and I. This is a truly lovely home!

The building is impressive, newly built, modern and freshly decorated. However, there are a number of issues relating to care which require attention and addressing.
The quality of the food served to residents is poor. Frozen food, tasteless and reheated. More fresh veg needed rather than canned peas
and carrot batons.

from Rachael P (Daughter of Resident) published on 12 March 2025

My Dad was a resident at Otterbourne Court for three years. Whilst there he received excellent care from all the staff. I was always kept well informed of any health issues by the nursing staff and I got great peace of mind knowing that the doctor would see him if necessary. This is really important
when you don't live locally. Dad engaged with a wide range of activities and trips whilst there and this meant that he lived a good quality of life until nearly the end. When Dad came to the end of his life I was really touched by the way it wasn't just him that was cared for, but we were all cared for as we watched and waited - this was unexpected and much appreciated. I will miss coming into the home for visits - a lot of the staff have remained the same in the three years Dad was a resident.

Reply from Charlotte Chiutare, General Manager at Brendoncare Otterbourne Court

Thank you so much for your heartfelt words. It truly means a great deal to all of us at Otterbourne Court to hear how much our care and support meant to both your dad and your family. We feel privileged to have been a part of his life over the past three years, and it's lovely to hear that he was able to enjoy a good quality of life and take part in activities that brought him joy. Knowing that you felt reassured and supported even from a distance is exactly what we strive for. It was an honour to care for him, and to be there for your family during those final days. Your comment about being cared for too is deeply touching, it reflects the kind of community and compassion we aim to provide for every resident and their loved ones. Please know you'll always be a welcome face here, and you'll be missed just as much.

My Aunt was wonderfully cared for during what proved to be the last months of her life. She had vascular dementia, worsened by a recent a stroke, but was still very much herself. She joined Brendoncare Alton after a less than ideal experience at a home elsewhere. From our first visit and the warm welcome
at Reception we could tell the atmosphere was very caring and positive. The Assistant Manager was excellent, explaining how everything works. The admin office was also marvelous and patient at sorting out the admission, contract, billing etc. We visited often and were impressed each time by the senior medical staff and the care team who were all kind, thoughtful, calm and cheerful (something I'd rarely seen before). They very quickly got to know my aunt and her needs. The local GP support was also excellent.
We were happy that she was so content and well cared for and I can't recommend this home and its team highly enough.

We used Brendoncare Stildon for two weeks respite after a hospital stay for Mum. We found the home ourselves as the ones that had come recommended from the hospital team were not suitable. The staff were very welcoming and Mum was made to feel comfortable. The room was en-suite and spacious, clean and
warm. Staff were friendly, meals delicious and lots of choices, activities every day if Mum wished to participate. Although it was only a short stay, I would not hesitate to use the home again.

There was no question of which local care home to choose for my stepfather as staff at Brendoncare Stildon had lovingly cared for my wife's mother, father and aunt. At least eleven of the staff from seven or more years ago are still there! Excellent evidence of a happy place. The staff cared for my

Mum came to Brendoncare Stildon in November 2023 at the age of 96, after a three-month stay in hospital. The care, consideration and love shown to my mum and to me and my family has been outstanding. All the staff, the cleaners, maintenance, reception, cooks, activity coordinators and managers, are
all so friendly and caring and Mum feels so at home there. As time has gone on, Mum is not so able to join in as much as she did but the staff always check in on her frequently and stop for a chat, they go above and beyond. My father moved into one of the supported Mews flats just over two years ago. The flat was light and airy, with everything he needed to be self-sufficient while providing the confidence that help would be available if ever needed. From that start, all the staff were welcoming and attentive and Dad immediately
felt at home in this happy and caring environment.
Recently, after a short stay in hospital resulting in a terminal prognosis, the admin staff went out of their way to facilitate his discharge back to a palliative care room at Brendoncare Stildon. Dad was so pleased to be able to return to the place where he felt so loved and cared for and the nursing staff were superb in ensuring he remained comfortable and peaceful in his final days. I cannot thank everyone enough for their professionalism, kindness and concern - both for Dad and for the family - throughout this period and would not hesitate to recommend Stildon.

My, 100-year-old, Mum has been there for almost a year now and I have had no cause to regret the decision.
The staff are cheerful, efficient and helpful. Mum's room is kept clean and we were able to personalise it with some of her possessions. She has food intolerances and difficulty eating but the chef has gone out of his way to tailor her menu to her needs. They arrange regular activities and entertainment which residents are encouraged, but not pressured, to join in with. All in all, I have no hesitation in recommending Stildon to anybody seeking a nursing or care home.

Thank you for your lovely review, it is a pleasure to have your mum here at Stildon and we always look forward to our little chats in the morning while delivering her newspaper. Your mum is very lucky to have such a caring son and we always appreciate your support of her care.

I have lived here since January 2023, very content, I am self-sufficient, doing my own cleaning and cooking.
I can attain cooked meals when required and cleaning for a fee.
An alarm cord is in each room.
Outside window cleaning is included in maintenance.
A footcare attendant regularly if required,
also the same for a hairdresser.
