Brendoncare is a registered charity, dedicated to improving the quality of life for older people.

It runs seven care homes across the south of England, each with its own distinctive personality. The care homes provide a range of care services, including nursing care, residential care, dedicated dementia care, extra care, respite care and end of life (palliative) care.

Brendoncare's care homes are located in Winchester, Otterbourne Hill, Chandlers Ford and Alton (Hampshire), East Grinstead (West Sussex) and Marlborough (Wiltshire).

At Alton, Knightwood, Otterbourne Hill and Stildon, there is a care home, together with apartments and bungalows where residents live independently, supported by individually tailored care and support packages as required. All the day-to-day maintenance is arranged and managed by Brendoncare. Residents can access comprehensive care and personal support services 24 hours a day – including nursing care, personal care or assistance with domestic tasks.

Brendoncare Otterbourne Hill also provides a dementia-friendly community and resource hub with a restaurant, café facilities and activities for residents and people from the local community.

The newest care home, Brendoncare St Giles View, is the first in the city of Winchester to offer dedicated dementia care.

Brendoncare is driven by commitment to quality care. As a respected organisation among charities caring for older people, its aim is to aid and influence the future direction of healthcare in the sector. Driven by a commitment to quality care and a belief that an innovative approach is vital, Brendoncare continues to push forward standards of care.

Brendoncare's community support services are dedicated to enriching the quality of life of older people. It offers telephone and digital support together with a network of community clubs for older people who may otherwise be lonely.

After a hospital visit I had to have personal care for the first time.
The carers made me feel very relaxed and comfortable. They were thoughtful, caring, professional and helpful.
I would like to say thank you again for your help and reassurance. I will not hesitate in future to use this service
again if needed.

Our Mum has lived independently in one of BrendonCare's apartments for the past 12 years, receiving exactly the right level of care and support throughout her time there. Now, at the age of 93, she has recently moved from her independent apartment into BrendonCare's on-campus care setting, and our family
is absolutely delighted with how smoothly the team has managed her transition.

She has settled in beautifully. It's clear she is enjoying her new life - living alongside fellow residents, surrounded by gentle, thoughtful support from the carers and nurses. The BrendonCare team have been unbelievable in their kindness, professionalism, and attention to her wellbeing.

We would not hesitate to recommend BrendonCare. All our family are deeply grateful for the care they have shown Mum and for the peace of mind they've given us.

Reply from Nicola Humphries, General Manager at Brendoncare AltonThank you so much for your heartfelt feedback. It is a pleasure to care for your mother; she has settled well and enjoying her time making new friends within the home and trying new activities to keep her busy. We try hard to maintain that perfect balance of care whist maintaining a warm professional approach. It's lovely to hear our staff show kindness and thoughtfulness and make such a positive impact on both your family and your mum's experience.

My father has settled into St Giles View really well. It's a huge transition moving into a care home, and Seva and her team have worked really hard to help Dad feel at home there. Brendoncare provides an excellent standard of care for both my parents. Most importantly, the staff are caring and compassionate, and communicate details of my parents' well-being and treatment needs to me on a regular and timely basis. The home and the residents' rooms are modern and comfortable. The
grounds are well tended and attractive. Brendoncare is continually investing in the maintenance of the building (new kitchens for instance in 2025), and gardens (currently undergoing major redesign). I feel a weight is off my shoulders knowing my parents are safe, comfortable and well cared for.
Reply from Nicola Humphries, General Manager at Brendoncare AltonA sincere thank you since for taking the time to share your kind feedback about the care your parents receive.
Our team is deeply committed to delivering high quality, person centred care that promotes dignity, comfort, and wellbeing. Knowing that you feel reassured they are safe, respected, and well cared for means a great deal to us.

We were impressed on our first visit and have not changed our view since. Mum took time to settle in but all the staff were kind and caring and actually persuaded her in the end (although she was reluctant to let her family know this!) The Home was very clean and comfortable, Mum enjoyed the activities
and made friends. We were also made welcome and enjoyed the cafe and cakes. It was nice that every staff member said hello to us and also knew Mum's name.

Dad's been at St Giles View for around six months now and has been settling in to his lovely bedroom with it's reaching view into the countryside and enjoys to spend time outside in the pretty garden with its seating area providing further views to the South Downs.
Dad looks now much better too and
is enjoying the food and very high level of friendly and thoughtful care for which I'm also very grateful. Much thought and work is seemingly also put in to the overall care and provision of activities.
During a recent visit just before Christmas when it was also Dad's Birthday there was Christmas carols and also cake too, we did enjoy to celebrate with Dad and always feel welcomed when we visit and is always spotlessly clean and a nice friendly atmosphere.

I am very grateful for the care and consideration shown to my mother in her last two years when she was increasingly frail which coincided with her move from another care home to St Giles. In Nov. 2025 my mother reached 100 (which she had been determined to do) and in spite of her frailness she was
able to enjoy the day thanks to her carers. We had a small champaigne party and a delicious cake baked in the home's kitchens. Sadly just over a month later she died peacefully thanks to the good care she received, and I also greatly appreciated the kind attentions I received at that time.

I have visited, but never stayed in a Care Home before but my health is such that I must seriously consider moving to one. My Bed Sitting Room is roomy, pleasantly furnished and sunny. My separate Shower Room with Toilet is coldish but well equipped. Meals are of high standard - varied, interesting
and nutritious. Guests are welcomed. The staff are friendly and welcoming and seem to know what they are doing! I have seen little of the Activities yet. A very positive experience and I intent to move here permanently.

Our father was admitted to Stildon nursing home after a month in hospital following a severe stroke. We always dreaded the day that this might happen to our fiercely independent dad. Right from the start the family felt reassured by the warm friendly attitude of all the staff. Combined with the professionalism
of the nurses we knew we had found somewhere special. The personalised care supervised and coordinated by a designated lead nurse ensured that dad had the best support and comfort possible until he died peacefully a month later. Highly recommended.

I like being solitary after a very busy and active life but I like it when the carers spend time talking to me and are friendly. I like the competitive items that the activities person brings to my room. I like having volunteers to chat to, including people of different ages and nationalities. I would
like regular visits from the manager to discuss any issues that arise, and there are some difficulties in postage from here - I have to get my family to post things. I can now use a wheelchair for occasional visits out with family and I enjoy doing this. Bed poor.
Reply from Danielle Parnell, Home Manager at Brendoncare MeadwayThank you for your honest feedback. I'd like to invite you to meet with us to share your experience and help shape Meadway's future, especially regarding the bed. Your insights will ensure residents are happy with any specialist beds we provide. I'm pleased our activities, care staff, and food are well received-Jacqui's recognition in the Regional Great British Care Awards reflects this. I also acknowledge your comments on resident meetings; while these occur weekly and the deputy manager visits daily, I understand visibility may feel limited. Your feedback helps us make care and support meaningful, accessible, and beneficial so everyone feels part of the community we strive for at Meadway.
