Brendoncare is a registered charity, dedicated to improving the quality of life for older people.

It runs seven care homes across the south of England, each with its own distinctive personality. The care homes provide a range of care services, including nursing care, residential care, dedicated dementia care, extra care, respite care and end of life (palliative) care.

At Alton, Knightwood, Otterbourne Hill and Stildon, there is a care home, together with apartments and bungalows where residents live independently, supported by individually tailored care and support packages as required. All the day-to-day maintenance is arranged and managed by Brendoncare. Residents can access comprehensive care and personal support services 24 hours a day – including nursing care, personal care or assistance with domestic tasks.

Brendoncare Otterbourne Hill also provides a dementia-friendly community and resource hub with a restaurant, café facilities and activities for residents and people from the local community.

The newest care home, Brendoncare St Giles View, is the first in the city of Winchester to offer dedicated dementia care.

Brendoncare is driven by commitment to quality care. As a respected organisation among charities caring for older people, its aim is to aid and influence the future direction of healthcare in the sector. My mum has been at Stildon for 9 months now. She settled in so well and we all feel like it is a home from home for her. Not only do the staff take care of her everyday needs, they go above and beyond to keep her happy. I feel like the staff have really got to know mum as a person and she enjoys having
a laugh with them and loves the social activities on offer which have really improved her sociability. Feedback in all areas is welcomed and acted upon.
I was so nervous about mum going into a care home, but I needn't have worried - I think she's so much happier now than she was when I was (trying) to look after her.
Reply from Katy Miller, General Manager at Brendoncare StildonThank you for your kind words. It is a pleasure to have your mum as part of the Stildon family, and her great sense of humour is enjoyed by both residents and staff alike. We were delighted to help make her recent wish-list trip happen and are so pleased it created some special memories for her.

My wonderful Nan attended brendoncare in November 2025. She loved her time here the nurses & carers and all members of staff went above and beyond with nan.
She loved her time here and loved everyone.
She treated this place as it was buckingham palace and how lucky she was to be here.
Thank you everyone

Been admitted to Stildon in early April and have nothing but praise for the care and attention received. The food is varied and wonderful. Snacks plentiful. All the staff are very attentive and respond quickly to all my care needs. Nothing is too much for them. I find the management are very easy to
talk to, and act quickly to your needs.

I usually would go for good as excellent is usually to strong a comment but in this case excellent fits.
A big thankyou to you all. You made his last months happy ones (and he could
be grumpy). It was a weight off my mind too to know he was being well looked after.

My mother's room is always so clean, tidy and fresh. She appreciates the attention to detail given by A on each visit. In her words she says "it is a treat to live here." For me I feel mum is able to live in dignity especially also being dressed to be tidy and smart. A reflection of how she live her

Our Godmother has been in the home for the past 5 months. We have found the atmosphere in the home to be so friendly, with all the staff being approachable and helpful with any request and need that we bring up whether it be admin, a painting on the wall or concern about her pain, nothing seems too
much trouble. My godmother is always saying how kind the staff are and we are so grateful for the professional care that they give. The home were also super supportive to us when we celebrated a birthday recently, helping to facilitate decoration and all that we needed, including a delicious cake, to host this in the cafe space. It is a lovely place to come and visit and also an easy place to leave our Godmother when we go as she seems very comforatable and at peace with the staff, friends and routine now that she has settled in. Many thanks to all there for creating this place.

My Mother was a resident at Stildon for 3 years until she passed away there earlier this year. She was well cared for, the staff were friendly, caring, and catered for her own personal needs. She enjoyed the varied daily activities and made some good friends. The home was always clean and welcoming
towards family members. The care and support she (and we ) received at the end were very compassionate and the staff were wonderful in ensuring that her final days were dignified and pain free. We could not have asked for more. Thank you Stildon.

Brendoncare Alton

from S U (Daughter of Resident) published on 6 May 2026

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
Our Mum moved to independent living at Brendoncare eight years ago. She was independent and kept herself busy. When she needed more help the Close Care team were able to assist with her needs. She was really happy with the care and friendship they provided for her, she felt safe knowing she could call
for assistance 24 hours a day.
When she became unwell and needed more care, she moved to the nursing home. This transition was smooth and easy for her as she was able to choose her own room and already knew some of the staff.
The care and consideration of her as a person during her time on Chawton was everything we as a family could have wished for. Everyone was helpful and supportive during her last few weeks which made it easier for us and Mum when she passed.
So a big Thank you to all at Brendoncare Alton.
Reply from Cristina Calinescu, Deputy Manager at Brendoncare AltonIt is an honour for us to receive your positive experience at Brendoncare Alton. Independence is something that we promote. Developing good relationships, caring for people with kindness and respect are part of our Brendoncare values. It is reassuring for us to know that we supported your mother during her transition from being independent to being looked well afterwards then supporting her when she approached her end of life.
Your wonderful feedback will be shared with the team here.

Staff very welcoming and attentive during the 7 visits we made
Made a very special effort for Mum on her birthday with garlands, balloons and a cake with candles delivered as a group to a chorus of happy birthday
Mums meds were 60-90 minutes late one day which made Mum sick for a hour which we all
struggled with. The carer in charge was very apologetic.
Reply from Seva Hashimova, Home Manager at Brendoncare St Giles ViewI am pleased to hear that Mum enjoyed lovely birthday celebrations and the cake was appreciated. I am disappointed to hear that her medication was delayed on one occasion and that this caused her to feel unwell. I want to write this review because every member of staff who comes into my mother's life, makes such a massive difference and I want to say 'thank you'. From us selecting this care home, through sorting out the finances, through the many ups and downs of life with a parent with dementia, the staff
at Otterbourne could not have done more for us and for mum. It brings such piece of mind to know that they really know her, meet her needs and support her. I can't get over, how often staff from other houses within Otterbourne say hello to my mum, naming her as if they all really know her. I'm so glad that we chose here for mum to live her life.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
After a hospital visit I had to have personal care for the first time.
The carers made me feel very relaxed and comfortable. They were thoughtful, caring, professional and helpful.
I would like to say thank you again for your help and reassurance. I will not hesitate in future to use this service
again if needed.
