This care home is superb. It is homely and care is personalised. My father was at the home for just a few weeks for end of life care. Communication was good throughout. There is always a warm welcome and staff take their time to get to know you. This is not a modern, newly built home, but that does not dictate the care. Thank you for looking after my father at the end of his life.

Our Mum moved into Upper Mead in May 2026, and since she has been there we have noticed a change in her, she has put on weight, laughing more, and talking more. This is all down to the staff at the home. A special thank you to Steph. The staff really care about the residents and they are very well looked after. When you visit the staff make you feel welcome, a really lovely atmosphere.

My father has been a resident of this incredible place since September 2025, and I cannot emphasise how utterly brilliant this home is. They are so kind to my dad and also the care is so good. They are attentive and provide so much support for him. Having lived independently for so long, I was worried he would not be settled, but he settled in so quickly because of the love and kindness he receives at Upper Mead. I am very keen to ensure everyone knows how awesome this home is.

We as a family can't thank the whole team at Upper Meads enough for their sensitivity, kindness, patience and hard work with our Mum, who sadly passed away on 2nd August.

Mum often needed a handhold when she felt anxious, and the staff always took the time to accommodate this. Thank you so much, it meant a lot to her and us.

My mother was placed with Upper Mead in January as an emergency placement. The placement was longer than I hoped, but the care and support given by all the staff at Upper Mead was exceptional, not only for my mother but also for my father when he came to visit.

My thanks also to two members of staff within management who were very kind and supportive in guiding me through difficult times. I am extremely grateful to every single member of the staff at Upper Mead, who are truly very special people.

Upper Mead have been amazing. I couldn’t have asked for a better home for Grandma to live in - the staff have gone above and beyond, and Grandma has referred to everyone here as her second family.
All the staff are so friendly and always have a smile on their faces when greeting and carrying out care.
The staff have also treated my Grandad (who doesn’t live at Upper Mead) with such care and compassion.

I highly recommend Upper Mead.

My mother came to Upper Mead in December 2023 following complications of a stroke. She was nursed until April 24, when she sadly passed away. The care and kindness of the team at Upper Mead was second to none. The care was very personal and our family were very supportive through this time, kept informed every step and nothing was too much trouble. I cannot recommend Upper Mead enough for the care of the elderly. Thank you so much for all you did for Mum.

This is an update to the review that I made in January of this year. My mother sadly passed away in August after a long illness. This review is about the end-of-life care she received and the wonderful care and support the manager and her staff provided for me and my family. The members of staff all work as a team and anticipate issues before they become problems. It was a comfort to me to know that she was never alone during those last few weeks when I wasn't there. I visited regularly and felt that they were looking after me as much as my mother.
There are too many members of staff that I could single out for praise so I won't but they work very hard and nothing was ever too much trouble. Having said that, I must mention the manager's experience and management style as key to this well-run home. We always joked that she could hear a pin drop from the other side of a wall.

Thank you to them all for making those last few weeks bearable.

Dad has been at Upper Mead for five months. I give them 10/10 for excellent and compassionate care by the management team headed by the manager, the superb and professional nursing team, the compassionate carers, kitchen staff, cleaners and laundry ladies and the ever-ready maintenance team. Dad is well looked after 24/7 in what is now his home from home. The genuine quality of friendliness and happiness in Upper Mead is palpable.

Since my mother has moved into Upper Mead, she has been happy and well cared for. I find that the staff are always friendly, courteous and professional. Mum receives a good standard of care. I have observed that the home priorities health and safety and it is clean, without being clinical. I am particularly impressed with the amount of varied activities taking place. The lounge/dining area where these take place, has a happy, homely and relaxed atmosphere. Well done to all the staff who work so hard to keep the residents happy and well.

My mother has been resident in Upper Mead since July 2022 and my father has just been admitted (January 2023). I do have experience of other nursing homes (three including Upper Mead)

Upper Mead is the best by far. It has a lovely atmosphere. The staff are lovely and the ladies who manage the home are brilliant. I cannot speak highly enough of this nursing home.
