Woodlands is rated “OUTSTANDING” by the Care Quality Commission (July 2017). The family owned and run nursing home is rated in the top 4% nationally.

The fantastic team of permanent staff allows Woodlands to consistently deliver personalised and outstanding nursing care in a relaxed and friendly environment for up to 33 residents.

The majestic Victorian property with a front veranda, beautiful rear garden and summer house for outdoor activities, is located within walking distance of the train station and local town centre.

Its inhouse chef allows the home to deliver a tasty and varied menu and cater for any special dietary requirements a resident may have.

Residents also benefit from the regular visits made by a hairdresser, physiotherapist, and chiropodist.

They make a special effort to retain strong links with the surrounding community and have several local groups and volunteers actively visiting the home, in addition to their inhouse activities.

Deciding on care can be a daunting proposition for many people and they are more than happy to answer any question you may have. Please feel free to get in touch if you would like more information.

I have found Woodlands to be an excellent nursing home. The management and staff are very friendly, extremely patient and are always willing and happy to help. They always make me feel welcome when I visit my sister-in-law but most importantly she is very happy and content in the home.

Mum has been resident at Woodlands for over 4 years now. It is a really excellent nursing home. Staff are very patient, kind and gentle with all the residents, and they are always warm and welcoming to friends and family.
Top quality care is provided 24/7 and there are regular outings and activities
for those who wish to participate. The residents are always clean and tidy, meals are tasty and varied, and the home is clean, bright and welcoming. Our mum is very happy there and we have made some good friends there.

My wife has improved tremendously. I can't say enough how perfect the nursing home has been for her. I could not ask for anything more from the nursing home and I highly recommend Woodlands to anyone else.

Approachable senior team (deputy manager, senior nurse and activities) always willing to discuss and help. Staff generally friendly and are hard working. Environment was a little 'shabby' but this is now being improved. The home has done all that it can to accommodate mum and help her adjust and settle.

Very pleased with the way my aunt has been looked after and overall level of support. Minor issue with her door shutting too quickly and on its own accord but this has now been sorted out and in general I would highly recommend the home to anyone.

When we suddenly had to find a home for my mother in February, it was a very traumatic time. She had lived independently in a warden assisted flat prior to being admitted to hospital in January and had always managed her own affairs. We saw several homes, but the welcome we received at Woodlands and
the friendliness of the staff there persuaded us that this was the best place for mum. I continued to be impressed with the staff. In spite of long shifts and the demands of residents, I have never heard a sigh or seen a 'raised eyebrow' in response to a need! Indeed, staff always respond quickly and cheerfully.

The main reason for choosing Woodlands for my mum was the friendliness of the staff and the 'homely' feeling we got when we visited. I rate the staff and management most highly across the categories offered.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.862)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.862) out of 10 for Woodlands Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.962 for Woodlands Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (101 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 105 Ratings = 4.962
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Woodlands Nursing Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 33 registered maximum number of service users is 6.6, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
