Woodlands is rated “OUTSTANDING” by the Care Quality Commission (July 2017). The family owned and run nursing home is rated in the top 4% nationally.

The fantastic team of permanent staff allows Woodlands to consistently deliver personalised and outstanding nursing care in a relaxed and friendly environment for up to 33 residents.

The majestic Victorian property with a front veranda, beautiful rear garden and summer house for outdoor activities, is located within walking distance of the train station and local town centre.

Its inhouse chef allows the home to deliver a tasty and varied menu and cater for any special dietary requirements a resident may have.

Residents also benefit from the regular visits made by a hairdresser, physiotherapist, and chiropodist.

They make a special effort to retain strong links with the surrounding community and have several local groups and volunteers actively visiting the home, in addition to their inhouse activities.

Deciding on care can be a daunting proposition for many people and they are more than happy to answer any question you may have. Please feel free to get in touch if you would like more information.

I can honestly say I can't find fault with Woodlands. Mum is looked after first class. We looked at many homes, of which this was definitely the best, and we haven't been disappointed. The staff are brilliant - so much patience and with a smile!

From the very first day we knew this was the home that we wanted mum to stay. It was exceptionally friendly, welcoming and looked and smelt so clean. Nothing is too much trouble for anybody. The food is good and the residents have plenty of activities to keep them occupied. There is nothing that I can
fault, mum is so well looked after and we are so happy to leave her in their care.

Excellent care, mum is very happy at Woodlands. The staff are caring and look after mum well. We always feel welcome when we visit and the staff are very flexible and work with us. Food is great and mum gets to choose from a menu that is presented in a way she can understand. All the activities that
the home offers keep mum stimulated and interested. We enjoy the fortnightly newsletter which shows what mum has been getting up to and keep us well informed.

My mum has been in Woodlands Nursing Home for over 9 months now, and I have found it to be a really lovely home. The staff are all amazing and always has mum's best interests at heart. They look after her well and as so kind and caring. Nothing is too much trouble. Mum is upset or just needs reassurance
that we are ok. They will ring us to put her mind at rest. There is activities every day to stimulate the residents and they have people coming in to entertain them. It has a wonderful friendly atmosphere. They really look after the families too.

Excellent in every way, from care for my mother to care for everyone at Woodlands. Everyone smiles, says hello, remembers me and talks to my mother with dignity.
I visit every day and feel I am visiting my mother in a place that feels like my mum's home.
Not an experience I have found at other nursing
homes. Thank you to all at Woodlands.

My husband was in Woodlands from May 2023 until April 2025 after he had suffered severe heart failure. He was treated with great respect and dignity. He was given first class care and support and commented every time I visited on how well he was looked after. The staff were always cheerful and caring.
He enjoyed his meals and complimented the catering staff saying that he'd never had a poor meal there. Although he didn't join in activities, he did enjoy a few music sessions from time to time. His room was cosy and he always spoke to the staff as they passed by. His room was kept spotlessly clean. With continued physiotherapy, good medication and encouragement he made remarkable progress and was able to leave Woodland and return home on April 16th 2025. We would like to thank everyone who made this possible - the management, carers and nursing staff. We are extremely grateful to you all. I would not hesitate in recommending Woodlands. And thank you for all the cups of coffee!!

I have recommended Woodlands to several other people based on the excellent care given to Mum over the last five years and will continue to do so. I believe Mum would not have been with us for as long as she was, had it not been for the excellent level of care. I have always found the staff and management
very helpful and quick to respond to any issue, no matter how small. Thank you to all.

When Mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer's vascular dementia and psychosis in February 2020, her psychiatrist told us she would lose her mental capacity to enjoy her surroundings, perhaps to know her family, within 6 months. My family all believe it is testament to the care she receives at Woodlands that
she is still able to enjoy her life more than 2 years later.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.795)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.795) out of 10 for Woodlands Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.945 for Woodlands Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (156 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 165 Ratings = 4.945
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.85 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Woodlands Nursing Home is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.85
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 33 registered maximum number of service users is 6.6, which has been reached with 14 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
