The staff at Cromwell House have taken excellent care of my mother since she arrived. Despite the complications of covid 19 they have done their best to insure we have had regular pod visits and when that has not been possible we have had FaceTime visits. My mum loves the food and the staff and seems
to have settled in well. Huge thanks to all of the staff.

Went to my weekly meeting to see my mother. Only 20-minutes allowed a week due to covid19, but now in glass partitioned room with speakers. Was good not to have to wear a mask this time. Very well organised and set up. Mum has dementia, but this week did remember me. I have been visiting for two and
a half years. Out of covid, Mum has had good, friendly care. Little things I have to organise ie footcare and hairdressing I book for Mum and pay extra for these, fees very high. Many foreign-speaking staff, nice but language difficulties.

We are pleased that you are happy with the covid safe rooms, as discussed you are still required to wear face masks when visiting so that deep cleaning of entire rooms is not required. Footcare and…read more

My mum went into the home 6 months ago very poorly, unable to do anything for herself. With all the help and support from the wonderful staff, she has made a wonderful recovery to enable her to have a good quality of life. She is very happy in there, made new friends and she feels safe knowing there
is always someone to hand.
Thank you all at Cromwell House.

What a sad welcome to this building. There are many weeds, which makes the grounds look tatty and uncared for. Lots of mess in the main garden. First impressions are really important and this needs improving hugely at this site.

The Manager and all the staff have shown outstanding care, empathy and understanding towards our mother and us, her family. They are a happy and knowledgeable team who work extremely hard. The building and the garden could do with some tlc, but this care home is a real home for our Mum. She is safe
loved and cared for. We couldn't ask for more.

My wife has recently died after receiving palliative care at Cromwell House Care Home Huntingdon. Her condition was complex and difficult but her care and treatment has been of a very high standard carried out by all levels of your staff.
Grateful thanks from myself and my family.

Sometimes things just seem right. That is how it felt when visiting to select a nursing home for my wife who has vascular dementia. She has now been in Cromwell for 3 months and is happily settled. The staff are happy and caring and understand her needs making sure she is comfortable at all times.
She
is warm, safe, well fed and cared for. Above all, she is happy which is all I can ask.

My mother was a resident at Cromwell House until she recently passed away. I have nothing but praise for all the staff and facilities. The home is beautifully clean and the meals are hotel standard. The nurses and carers couldn't do anymore for my mother than they did. Thank you all very much.

My 82 year old Mother moved into the Cromwell House Care Home in October 2015 following an extended stay in hospital. Her health had been slowly deteriorating over a period of years and she was finally unable to care for herself at home. Within a six week period of being at the Cromwell there was
a marked improvement in her overall health, both physically and mentally. Since this time she has continued to gain weight and she really enjoys the home cooked food - and they cater for her diabetic food requirements very well.

She has a very pleasant room which overlooks the garden and is able to take visitors into the communal lounges which are beautifully decorated. In my opinion, the Cromwell has a very homely feel and the staff are always friendly and helpful. They know my mother's likes and dislikes and encourage her to take part in the activities. I now feel that I can focus on a mother daughter relationship and am able to take my Mum in her wheelchair into the high street for lunch/afternoon teas etc. I am looking forward to the summer months when we will be able to sit in the beautiful garden.

Thank you to all the staff for making the transition from home as smooth as possible and for all your very hard work.

Both my parents were residents at Cromwell House and both died at the home. There are no words to express how impressive the care was.

The environment is like a hotel, the food, according to Dad, "too good and too much", the rooms are spacious and well equipped and the garden is lovely. The best

thing about Cromwell House is the staff. Not only do they provide excellent care but they do so with the utmost kindness, compassion and good humour.

My mother was very frail for the last few months of her life and the gentleness with which the staff handled her brought a lump to my throat. She was very poorly for the last few days and couldn't have had better or more sensitive care.

The staff not only looked after Mum but they cared for me too as I sat with her for over a week. Meals were offered, endless cups of tea delivered and kindness was on tap. My mum died in a rose scented, quiet, dimly lit room, swaddled in a nest of pillows and surrounded with love.

Right up to the end she constantly said how happy she was at Cromwell House and how kind the staff, without exception, were to her. Living at Cromwell House made the end of my parents' lives comfortable, content and dignified. It was the perfect place for them and I really can't recommend it more highly.

Excellent though every aspect of Cromwell House and the care it offers are, it is the people who work there who make it so special. They consistently go the extra mile.

Current Review Score: 8.4 (8.374)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.4 (8.374) out of 10 for Cromwell House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.5 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.897 for Cromwell House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (26 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 29 Ratings = 4.897
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.477 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cromwell House Care Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 13.2 = 0.227
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
