I arrived at Abbey Lodge on September/October 2025. The staff were all very welcoming. It took me about eight weeks to decide if it was for me. Then I started managing to shower myself and I had a bit of an issue with pain control. I have chronic pain and wasn't used to asking all the time for morphine.,
I felt as if I being judged like a drug addict don't get me wrong the staff were all nice but I was never used to 'begging' for pain relief.

My sister has been in Applecroft since late 2023. She was welcomed in after a difficult experience and settled very quickly due to the warm, caring and professional approach of all the team. Over the last 2 years she has lost mobility and cognition has deteriorated. At all times the team has been there
for her, encouraging, thoughtful, vigilant, practical. She is always clean and dressed appropriately. Nursing needs are carefully attended tom as are her care needs. The home is clean and bright and the staff friendly and responsive. We are very happy with her care.

My husband is well cared for and treated with dignity and respect by all of the staff. If there are any issues, these are usually addressed in a timely fashion. The only area that is disappointing is the activities element. It has always been very limited. There are currently no designated activities
staff, but this situation is hoping to be addressed in the very near future.
Reply from Alexander Bragg, Regional Support Manager at Applecroft Nursing HomeThank you for your review, we are pleased to say that a dedicated member of the team is shortly moving into the role of Activities Lead in the home, and with support from other Activities Leads in the group I am sure there will soon be an improvement noticed in this area.

Mum has been at Applecroft since April 2025, she is happy and content, safe and well looked after. The staff are excellent and always welcoming when we visit. We have experienced several other homes on mums journey but Applecroft is by far the nicest environment and most suitable for mums needs. I am

My wife has been resident at Applecroft (discovery unit) since March 2025. She has thrived there after an 'uncomfortable' spell in a previous home and a spell in hospital. She is now settled. She is treated with dignity by a welcoming and consistent staff with a nurse always on duty. As a visitor I
am always welcomed at any time. Applecroft is a clean and well managed nursing home.

My father worked in care homes his whole working life so found the transition to become a service user with Alzheimer's difficult and confusing. Applecroft took this history into account and through their understanding were able to reduce his challenging behaviours. The home may be basic in appearance
but it's the staff that make this the place the wonderful, person-centered, compassionate and safe home that it is. There has been a culture of openness and transparency from the nursing/care staff. I never met/spoke to anyone in management team.

Mum came to the home in December from a previous care home; Mum has settled in very well, rooms are very modern and clean, regular staff helps with Moms familiarity with people to make her comfortable. She has put on healthy weight now and is smiling more. It makes a big difference to be able to see
Mom during feeding times, as I can help and spend more time with her, security is good and it feels like a nice place to visit loved ones. I feel happy that when I am not there Mom is in the best care.

I visited many care homes before Applecroft, and none came close. The level of care is superb. The staff are all friendly and helpful. good. No complaints from me.

Mum and I were keen to move dad from his former care home to Manor Farm where he would receive good care. The manager and receptionist were easy to catch on the phone, and detailed conversation could also be had via email. The transition went smoothly and picture my surprise and delight when on my first
visit I see dad being fed pureed tasty food. The manager gave me a chance for a 1 to 1 to smooth out some queries, and after a few days these were followed up and sorted. Thank you!

The staff at Abbeydale are wonderful - very friendly, patient and extremely hardworking.
My Dad can be challenging to deal with but he has received nothing but respect and kindness from everyone.
The home is always spotlessly clean, warm and welcoming and I know (from my Dad) that the food is excellent
which is high praise indeed from him!
There are always plenty of activities for the residents to get involved in as well.
All in all a fantastic environment and great staff

I can't thank all the amazing, kind, and caring staff at Aaron Court enough for everything they did for my stepfather whilst he stayed there with them.
They all went above and beyond in welcoming him as if he was their own family.
He was always treated with the utmost respect, dignity, kindness
and compassionate care on every occasion. Thank you for making him feel included and not lonely whilst he stayed with you.
Reply from Lorraine Welham, General Manager at Aaron CourtThankyou for such lovely comments, I will share these with the team.

I am an infrequent visitor to the care home as I live 100 miles away but think the home does what it says 'on the tin'. Its bright and clean and staff lovely and so helpful. My sister has rallied in your care and I thank you for that. Your home ticks all the right boxex. Cannot comment on management
or safety/suecurity really.
Reply from Graham Burrell, Manager at Kendal Care HomeThankyou so much for your feedback which we really appreciate, as it helps us to improve our service. We will pass onwards your comments to our staff teams. Thankyou again.
