Mum and I were keen to move dad from his former care home to Manor Farm where he would receive good care. The manager and receptionist were easy to catch on the phone, and detailed conversation could also be had via email. The transition went smoothly and picture my surprise and delight when on my first
visit I see dad being fed pureed tasty food. The manager gave me a chance for a 1 to 1 to smooth out some queries, and after a few days these were followed up and sorted. Thank you!

Home Manager does not listen to family. They are no longer offering 24/7 visiting hrs they have changed it to 10am to 8pm
Dignity is not there. Rules change every day
Home Manager is more interested in what her staff say not what family say
Mum was left starving.
Reply from Jessica Morris, Regional Support at Manor Farm Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are very sorry to read that your experience has caused distress, and we fully understand how upsetting it is to feel that your loved one's care and dignity may not have met expectations. Listening to residents and their families is extremely important to us, and we regret that you felt unheard.

Any changes to visiting arrangements are made with careful consideration for the wellbeing and safety of all residents, but we recognise how important visiting is for families and apologise if this was not communicated clearly or compassionately. Your comments regarding communication, consistency, dignity, and nutrition are particularly concerning. Ensuring residents are treated with respect at all times and that their nutritional needs are fully met is fundamental to our care. We will look into your concerns raised and please contact us directly to discuss further if you wish.

My husband has been at this care home for 9 months now, he has been looked after well. I requested for my husband's 74th birthday party to take place in the Activity Room. The activities team displayed a beautiful decorated colourful birthday theme for my husband, and we were both overwhelmed with the
hospitality, care and support from the staff, as well as the home manager being there, and supporting whilst the cutting of the cake.

From the first day Cathy came here and had lunch she was made to feel welcome by the staff on duty. It was amazing how well Cathy settled in. It was a worry because of her Alzheimer's, we thought she would be scared, but she has felt at home from the beginning. Being here over a year now and she has
put on weight and is content. All the staff are kind to Cathy and to us when we come, so its always a pleasure coming here. Her room is kept clean and there are a lot of different activities for her. Can't praise the staff enough for their hard work and kindness to Cathy and her visitors.

I couldn't be happier with the care my friend received at this wonderful care home. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and truly feels like a second home. The staff go above and beyond, and the range of activities is outstanding-there's always something engaging, from arts and crafts to music sessions
and gentle exercise classes. It's clear the residents are not only well cared for but also genuinely happy and stimulated. A fantastic place with a real sense of community and compassion.

My mother has been at Manor Farm Care for 3 years and she had a really bad experience at a previous home. When she moved to Manor Farm, her life change was complete, she was happier than before and Mum feels more secure in all aspects. The management and staff are brilliant there, I had experienced
it in the past but I couldn't believe it. Mum now has dementia and has many complex needs, but even then she has been treated with so much care, kindness and generosity of spirit. This is a testament to all staff from management, nursing, catering and reception, that my mum is still here. Thanks.

My father-in-law was admitted to Manor Farm Care Home on Friday the 24th of May at 5:30 pm. Sadly he had a very restless night and passed away in the early hours of Saturday the 25th of May despite all of the efforts of the staff and ambulance service. He was 99 years old! So although he did not experience
the life he would have had at Manor Farm, I wanted to complete this review as my son and I were so impressed with the staff, care and management. His room, the dining area and the residents' lounge were perfect. So, thank you everyone and I'm only sorry that he did not get to experience it himself. He would have loved it and we know he would have been cared for by those amazing staff. Thank you!

Manor Farm Care Home has a very welcoming team staff from management to nurses, cooks and the cleaning team. All have made great efforts to make the residents feel at home, from decorations to make the care home feel like "home environment" to taking time to learn about the resident, likes and dislikes.
We
were apprehensive of my nan moving into a care home, her room is very spacious and clean. She is given lots of encouragement especially in meals and medication and reassurance as the dementia progresses that she is safe. Staff have built a good working relationship with the family for regular updates and review meetings.
Thank you to the staff at Manor Farm.

The Christmas party was very good today. It was very well organised. The singer was very good and sang a variety of festive tunes which many of the residents could respond to. Using two rooms, one for food and one for music was a good idea.

Overall great facility, however since the beginning of the stay my mother not only got out of the premises without staff knowing, she got out a further 2 more times and the last time she was gone, coming up to an hour. There have also been changes to prevent this from happening again which has happened
which is satisfactory and the staff are brilliant. There’s a handful of staff members who go up and above than what they are supposed to do but then there’s a handful who are rude arrogant and constantly glued to their mobile phones. Going on to the care plan overall is fair, it’s just the food that isn’t up to standard considering my mums a fussy eater and I’ve repeatedly told management and her floor's head nurse of the things that she can and can not eat. They are completely overlooking this and carry on serving her beige food which has no nutritional value.
Reply from Fiona White, Regional Director at Manor Farm Care HomeThank you for your feedback. I understand when your mother first moved into the home in 2021 under the previous management team that there were a few teething problems that were quickly resolved by moving your mother to a secure floor. I am pleased that you feel the staff are brilliant, our electronic care records operate with handheld devices that do look like mobile telephones so it’s easy to mistake staff for being on mobiles when they are actually documenting care given. We will organise for the chef to discuss alternative menus with your mother as she is able to make her own choices, but please be assured all food served is nutritional and to our company’s high standard. We are always very grateful for all feedback, both positive and negative as we use this to continuously improve our service and both the Home Manager and I would be happy to meet with you to discuss any concerns you may have.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.380)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.380) out of 10 for Manor Farm Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 16 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.579 for Manor Farm Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (145 Excellents x 5) + (24 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (12 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 183 Ratings = 4.579
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.801 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Manor Farm Care Home is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 81 registered maximum number of service users is 16.2. 15 Positive Reviews ÷ 16.2 = 0.926
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
