My wife has been at Heron Hill for more than two years now and I am very happy with her care. The management and staff are very attentive, patient and always accessible . There is a warm and welcoming atmosphere at Heron Hill from everyone; nothing is too much trouble.

When my wife has had any problems they have been handled sensitively and with kindness. the standard of care is excellent.

What makes Heron Hill as good as it is is the culture they have created amongst their staff. In the year we have been visiting we have never experienced anything other than excellent interactions between the staff, residents and ourselves. They are always caring.

My mum has been a resident in this care home for nearly a year now. The staff are excellent, very professional and extremely caring. My mum speaks very highly of all members of staff.

She is treated with kindness and dignity at all times. I am extremely grateful to all members of staff and know my mum is in safe hands.

Overall Experience

Dad has been in Heron Hill since the beginning of February and we are now in April. He has settled well . The Staff are absolutely fantastic with each patient that I have seen. They come and and tend to their every need. There are lots of activities for the residents to do, from Gardening to Arts and Crafts . There is a nice garden for them to sit outside and get some lovely fresh air. Also the home has its own mini bus and some of the residents go for a little ride out to places and they really have a great time. Nothing is too much trouble. If your feeling anxious about anything just go and talk to one of the Senior carers and the will help sort out the problem. If your Relative wants to go out with you for a little ride that's not a problem either you can just take them for a little ride . The patients all have their own bedroom, with a toilet and sink en-suite. A buzzer for emergency if need be. My Dad is very happy there . I visit 3/4 times a week. .

Extremely happy with the care provided for my mum . All the staff are very kind and patient especially as my mums behavior can sometimes be challenging. It has been a very stressful and upsetting time for us due to my mum not being able to communicate ,but this has been helped by knowing that she is being very well looked after. We have also been very well looked after and accommodated when we thought we were losing mum and she was put on an end of life pathway. Thankfully she pulled through.
Please pass on my thanks to your team on their professionalism and compassion . You should be very proud of them.

I have marked down for security but that is only due to my mums tenacity in trying to escape. I think this has not been such an issue of late and I'm unsure how this could have been avoided.

Review from Alice W (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 4 July 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

After my Grandad being constantly unsettled at other care homes, the difference in him at Heron Hill Care Home has been unbelievable despite his deterioration.

It is invaluable to say goodbye to grandad knowing he is safe, happy and most of all cared for. We couldn't ask for grandad to be in a more loving environment. The activities keep him very stimulated. They are quick to react when he is under the weather or needs medication attention. They are constantly improving part of the home. The communication with family has been particularly comforting to us. Finally, Grandad enjoys to the constant flow of beer.

My only criticism would be that the laundry can be a little slow and he can become short on clothing.

Relative with care and attention. The activities they put on are great. They take

Residents for trips out.

I am often recommending the care home-

Telling people to look at facebook page. We could move our relative to a care home thats nearer but we feel It is the best place for him.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Heron Hill Care Home for the past two years, from the reception staff, cleaners and laundry staff, for the wonderful compassionate, considerate and friendly care/nursing staff, who went above and beyond to ensure that Mum's final moments were warm and safe. Mum was a reluctant resident to start with due to her illness. There was difficult times for both carers and us. The end of life care for her was very difficult for us but the staff went an extra mile for both her and us, special thank you to three members of staff in particular who kept us informed and made the final days easier. We feel the home is clean and safe and would recommend to anyone

My mum has been in the home for many years now, and the staff know her needs very well and take good care of her. Staff are very caring and do all they can to meet all needs. There has been much security and stability with the management making big improvements to the overall care in the last few years. The unit my mum is on is well run, and many staff go above and beyond.

Disappointed with the loss of Jumpers/nightdresses etc., watch, and hairbrush recently lost, and due to my sister being bed-bound, it can only be due to the staff not being competent.
Rooms are cleaned sparingly - beds not pulled out and full of crumbs etc.

No dusting done.

My father was a resident at Heron Hill until he sadly passed away at the end of this month. He suffered from dementia and so found life quite difficult for the past few years. He moved into Heron Hall in November 2023 and after a period of settling in seemed quite happy in the environment. Staff were always kind, efficient and cheerful and provided a relaxed atmosphere in which the residents needs came first. Thank you.

My dad moved into Heron Hill over a year ago. Settling in wasn't easy for him, and many of the staff were very kind to him and us as his family. The staff team are very hard-working, kind, demonstrative, and reassuring. One of the staff members was great at keeping us informed as were all the nursing team. The end-of-life care for my dad was really well managed and for my dad's family.

My dad moved to Heron Hill Care Home when his Alzheimers and Vascular Dementia became too advanced for him to remain at home. The whole transition was difficult, but the staff on the Cavell Suite were considerate, kind and welcoming to us, as we descended upon them to make dad's new home 'homely'. Dad's initial settling in period was very scary, provoking some challenging behaviour, but the staff were incredibly understanding, patient and reassuring and treated Dad with kindness, respect and empathy allowing him to relax and feel safe. He was treated with genuine care and affection, allowing him to preserve his dignity and enjoy his time there. Dad passed away at Christmas and the family are united in wanting to express our sincere gratitude to the team; from the reception staff, cleaners and laundry staff, to the wonderfully compassionate, considerate and friendly care/nursing staff, who went above and beyond to ensure that my dad's final memories were warm, safe and of feeling seen.

My mother was admitted to Heron Hill Care Home after a spell in hospital. She had the best care, she was only there just over a month but in that time we saw two sides to a member of staff a very conscientious and professional nurse and when it was needed she matched with my families personality and provided humour and friendship a perfect combination. She allowed my mother to pass with dignity and made sure my last moments with my mom were special. All the staff were lovely and nothing was to much trouble.

My mother-in-law has been a resident for two years, having first been admitted on end-of-life care.
