Dad has been in Heron Hill since the beginning of February and we are now in April. He has settled well . The Staff are absolutely fantastic with each patient that I have seen. They come and and tend to their every need. There are lots of activities for the residents to do, from Gardening to Arts and
Crafts . There is a nice garden for them to sit outside and get some lovely fresh air. Also the home has its own mini bus and some of the residents go for a little ride out to places and they really have a great time. Nothing is too much trouble. If your feeling anxious about anything just go and talk to one of the Senior carers and the will help sort out the problem. If your Relative wants to go out with you for a little ride that's not a problem either you can just take them for a little ride . The patients all have their own bedroom, with a toilet and sink en-suite. A buzzer for emergency if need be. My Dad is very happy there . I visit 3/4 times a week. .

Visited care home over 6 days this visit. Always made welcome and felt could stay as long as I wanted. Staff always happy to include me with brother's meals. All areas were clean and fresh. Comfortable and pleasant surroundings with quiet areas if wanted. Unfortunately, twice, when I visited my brother
he was still in bed, because they were short-staffed. Once at 9:30 am and the other at 11:30 am. The latter was inexcusable. He was distressed and thought he was ill. One sister didn't wait for my brother to say goodbye before we left, snatched the wheelchair to push him to lounge, he was angry and upset. Generally the staff are patient and kind.
Reply from Graham Burrell, Manager at Kendal Care HomeMany thanks for your feed back which we do appreciate. We do work very hard to maintain appropriate and safe staffing levels - we are not aware of the specific dates that you experienced these issues, but we do apologise for this and will look into this further to see if there are any improvements we can make to our service and care delivery. Once again thankyou for your valuable feedback, which helps us to improve.

I am an infrequent visitor to the care home as I live 100 miles away but think the home does what it says 'on the tin'. Its bright and clean and staff lovely and so helpful. My sister has rallied in your care and I thank you for that. Your home ticks all the right boxex. Cannot comment on management
or safety/suecurity really.

Extremely happy with the care provided for my mum . All the staff are very kind and patient especially as my mums behavior can sometimes be challenging. It has been a very stressful and upsetting time for us due to my mum not being able to communicate ,but this has been helped by knowing that she is
being very well looked after. We have also been very well looked after and accommodated when we thought we were losing mum and she was put on an end of life pathway. Thankfully she pulled through.
Please pass on my thanks to your team on their professionalism and compassion . You should be very proud of them.
I have marked down for security but that is only due to my mums tenacity in trying to escape. I think this has not been such an issue of late and I'm unsure how this could have been avoided.
Reply from Tina Johnstone, Regional Operations Director at Heron Hill Care HomeThank you so very much indeed for taking the time to review the care and support received from our wonderful staff team within Heron Hill. My very dear friend (and nursing colleague) has been a resident for nearly a year and I cannot fault the care she has received. The staff are friendly, courteous and very respectful. And go the "extra mile"! And most importantly my friend is happy and contented in the home.

Over the last eighteen months the care given to my mother at Kendal Care Home has been nothing short of exceptional. Mum arrived the care after a fall and resultant head injury on 23rd Dec 2023 and lived at KCH until she passed away 18 months later. During that time she was given an amazing amount of
care, love and affection by the outstanding team. Too many wonderful staff to mention individually here other than to say they have all been so kind, fun and genuinely considerate to my Mum
THANK YOU

After my Grandad being constantly unsettled at other care homes, the difference in him at Heron Hill Care Home has been unbelievable despite his deterioration.

It is invaluable to say goodbye to grandad knowing he is safe, happy and most of all cared for. We couldn't ask for grandad to be in a more

loving environment. The activities keep him very stimulated. They are quick to react when he is under the weather or needs medication attention. They are constantly improving part of the home. The communication with family has been particularly comforting to us. Finally, Grandad enjoys to the constant flow of beer.

My only criticism would be that the laundry can be a little slow and he can become short on clothing.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Heron Hill Care Home for the past two years, from the reception staff, cleaners and laundry staff, for the wonderful compassionate, considerate and friendly care/nursing staff, who went above and beyond to ensure that Mum's final moments were
warm and safe. Mum was a reluctant resident to start with due to her illness. There was difficult times for both carers and us. The end of life care for her was very difficult for us but the staff went an extra mile for both her and us, special thank you to three members of staff in particular who kept us informed and made the final days easier. We feel the home is clean and safe and would recommend to anyone

My mum has been in the home for many years now, and the staff know her needs very well and take good care of her. Staff are very caring and do all they can to meet all needs. There has been much security and stability with the management making big improvements to the overall care in the last few years.
The unit my mum is on is well run, and many staff go above and beyond.

I could not be happier for my relative, knowing that she is in a very well run care home where her needs are being taken care of in the most attentive and dignified manner.

The staff at the home make us feel welcome at anytime and they genuinely care about the residents. We moved our relative from

another home and she is clearly happier at Kendal Care Home. The rooms are a good size, the food is excellent and there are a good selection of activities.

The home is strongly recommended.

Disappointed with the loss of Jumpers/nightdresses etc., watch, and hairbrush recently lost, and due to my sister being bed-bound, it can only be due to the staff not being competent.
Rooms are cleaned sparingly - beds not pulled out and full of crumbs etc.
No dusting done.

A quick note of thanks to all the staff at Kendal Care Home. Under the manager's leadership, everyone plays a part in making this a special place. From reception and office staff as you enter the building to all the carers nurses and entertainment team.
A couple of examples - yesterday was St Patrick's
day and everyone enjoyed what was on offer. The rooms were decorated with crafts done last week by the residents. The menus for a special lunch was perfect, and enjoyed by everyone in the dining room.
Whilst activities are taking place the staff are looking out for everyone and know who needs help. They help with enthusiasm, which I am sure the residents appreciate. They are all kind and sensitive.
Today a fabulous boat ride on Windermere. These trips must take quite a bit of organising but looking at the photos, everyone looks safe and happy. The weather was an added bonus!
Keep up the good work KCH you are a great team, and thank you.

This is the seoncd time I have written to you. I read the information when it stated that you would contact me within 4 days, and I am still waiting to hear from you. On my weekly visit to the home, the trousers my husband was wearing have not been ironed. He looked as though he had slept in them. He
was particular about his trousers as he worked for the service and would iron his own trousers two days before he came to the care home. Please let me know what you are going to do about this problem.

My father was a resident at Heron Hill until he sadly passed away at the end of this month. He suffered from dementia and so found life quite difficult for the past few years. He moved into Heron Hall in November 2023 and after a period of settling in seemed quite happy in the environment. Staff were
always kind, efficient and cheerful and provided a relaxed atmosphere in which the residents needs came first. Thank you.

Excellent nursing home. The staff and management are lovely and helpful. Carers are friendly and very caring, nothing too much. My mum is very well looked after unlike when she had to stay in a different care home (horrific place), which left her in bed and didn't care if she ate or not (she's diabetic),
the staff never spoke. Just grunted at you. Kendal Care Home couldn't be more different. Carers really look after her and take time to talk to her. It's a massive weight off my mind, knowing she is very well cared for.
