My aunt has recently moved into this care home and already I can see the difference in her mental and physical wellbeing. Myself from entering the home, meeting reception, admin, managers, nurses, carers everyone showed compassion and care above anything I have seen before. Bring a past carer myself this is very reassuring and wonderful to see. My aunt and myself want to thank everyone for their support at this difficult time. Thank you I can rate this home 5* and 100% excellent.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review and 5-star rating. We are delighted to hear that your aunt has settled in well and that you have already noticed a positive difference in her wellbeing. Your kind words about our reception, admin, management, nursing and care teams mean a great deal to...
Poor standards of care and poor standards of communication between staff and family and friends. Also miss leading information given to family and friends overall not impressed with overall standards of care
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are very sorry to read your comments and would again like to offer our sincere condolences to you and your family.
We take concerns about care standards and communication extremely seriously. Following the concerns raised with us, we...
We visit our friend Ron as often as we can. He has had a few naughty spells but he is now settled at Farnworth care home and we have noticed a vast improvement. His room is lovely and quiet and both Ron and ourselves think that the staff are wonderful. Many thanks to all of you for taking care of him. We now know that he is safe and happy compared with the Care Home that he was in before. Once again a big thankyou to all you wonderful people. xxx
What an absolute pleasure to read your wonderful, kind review. Thank you so much for putting aside a moment to share you feedback with us. We are extremely grateful, thank you Jayms!
Farnworth Care Home has provided a safe, comfortable and caring last home for my mother. Things have not always gone smoothly but all the staff have been supportive, patient and reassuring. Mum's needs have been met in all aspects of her nursing care and well being. The home is clean and tidy. Dirty laundry is removed daily and returned speedily. The standard of food is varied and prepared to a high standard, nothing is omitted. Hot/cold drinks and snacks are provided 24 hours a day. I cannot fault Farnworth Care Home. You all deserve a medal. You are all wonderful. Thank you for caring for my mum.
Firstly I would like to sincerely thank you for taking the time to provide a review of yours and your loved one's experience at Farnworth Care Home. We strive to provide a positive and home-from-home environment for everyone and to receive your wonderful feedback, enables us to review and reflect upon a person's time here. Thank you again, Jayms!
My dad has been a resident on Firwood at Farnworth Care Home since January 2025. During this time, the care that he has received has been exemplary from all of the staff. My dad says how lovely and caring they all are; each member of staff that deals with him has formed a relationship with him, and that makes him feel valued. We are also really impressed with all of the activities that are available to residents every day. We also can't speak highly enough of James, the manager who too is very amenable.
Thank you so very kindly for your beautiful review of the care your Dad receives at Farnworth Care Home. We are so grateful to you for taking the time to share your feedback and I will ensure that this is passed to the Firwood Team in recognition of the exemplary care that they provide. Thank you again, Jayms!
The home itself is very modern, bright, clean, tidy and safe; it has a lovely warm, welcoming atmosphere and feels very homely, and the staff make it a fun and lively place to be, but equally if you want peace and tranquility this is also accommodated for.
The dining room is also lovely, it's like a restaurant. It's very clean and the staff are very organised, and are very attentive to the residents and their needs. The food is good quality too with wonderful menus.
There is also plenty to do with lots of events taking place, and not just at Christmas and Easter, which often include residents' family members too. Recently they even did a Chinese New year celebration and meal which was lots of fun. There are plenty of games and activities, entertainers and singers that come in, and trips and days out. My mum loves it. So yes, very pleased.
What an absolute pleasure to read your sincere and kind review. It truly means the world to us that you have taken the time share your feedback with us and I will be sure to share your feedback with the team. Thank you ever so much, Jayms!
Both my Mum & Dad had to get care at the same time and we was very lucky that Farnworth care home could take both in at the same time, Mum was very sick and passed away a couple of months after, the care she got and dignity she got from all the staff was amazing and they truly helped in a very difficult time, Dad is still in Farnworth care home and the staff really looked after him after Mums passing, he couldnt be in better place. All the family and Dad are very happy with all the attention and care he gets from the staff and he is very settled and content. A big thank you from us all to all at Farnworth care home.
Thank you for your lovely, kind words and for taking the time to share your feedback about Farnworth Care Home. We are extremely grateful and reassured by your fantastic review. Thank you, Jayms!
Dad had an extremely difficult year in 2025, due to declining health including several infections alongside delirium. After a few weeks in hospital he was sent to a rehabilitation unit, which was a very distressing time, due to sporadic care and dad's increasing needs. Once we accepted the advice that he wouldn't be able to safely return home, we began the hunt for a suitable nursing home. We were quite shocked at some of the environments we came across, however when we found Farnworth Care Home we were warmly welcomed and it immediately felt like a homely and loving environment. It was a huge relief when dad finally became settled and comfortable; it wasn't easy upon his arrival but staff worked hard to manage his pain levels and provided the level of care that he had been much in need of. It was such a relief to see him in a clean, comfortable environment and in the last few months of his life he was treated with much dignity and care which was a huge comfort to us as family. Thanks!

Unfortunately much to our regret her condition rules out a lot of the activities which are organised although I can see that the majority of those who do take part really enjoy and appreciate them.
Although prevented from naming individuals by the Review Rules it is apparent that the nursing and caring staff are dedicated to their role in looking after all their patients and from me and the rest of our family it is a very grateful thank you and we consider ourselves fortunate to have selected Farnworth Care home.
Please accept my deepest gratitude to you for taking the time to write a review of yours and your wife's experience at Farnworth Care Home. I will take the greatest pleasure sharing your honest and thoughtful comments with the whole team. Thank you, Jayms!
Staff are highly professional, cheery and upbeat, they create interesting activities evolving everyone as best they can. Our Mum's journey with Dementia means that she can no longer participate much. Her medical care and needs are met with patience,, kindness and care. We feel so grateful that we managed to secure her a place here.
As family passes through the home..genuine love and care are in abundance. Our loved ones are treated with compassion and peace. I highly recommend this provision. Thank you all from the bottom of our heart.
I cannot thank you enough for the kindness and support you have shown in your review of Farnworth Care Home. I am genuinely and sincerely touched that you have taken the time to share yours and your Mum's experience with us. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, Jayms!
The home and staff continue to enable the residents to feel at home and be well looked after. During the Christmas period, there were well-planned activities for both residents and their families. All having a really good time. Dad always loved the food and enjoyed Christmas dinner along with the atmosphere. Really happy with the home and great staff.
I can't thank you enough for the lovely, kind comments you have shared about your experience of Farnworth Care Home. All of the team who work here try their very hardest to ensure that each person is treated with dignity, respect and individuality. Receiving your review is a testament to the great...
It is a custom, modern building. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Always clean. The staff make efforts to include the residents in seasonal events: Christmas, Easter, Valentines etc. I wasn't happy that I was made to pay £20 car parking charge, for once forgetting to sign in to the car park screen, despite registering an appeal.
I truly appreciate you taking the time to write a review of your experience of Farnworth Care Home. Your comments assist us in monitoring and improving the service to ensure that our Residents are at the centre of everything we do. I apologise for any upset or distress that the car parking fine you...
My mother in law went in firstly for respite. I agree at first it was hard for her when we went to visit She would get upset when we left & was very hard for the staff to try & console her. Over the month or so she has settled a lot better & now given the opportunity to stay on permanent.basis. I'm very impressed how they have daytime activities for all the residents & celebrate birthday's & other celebratory occasions. We are pleased to say she has gained weight as well. The staff who organise the games & activities are brilliant, my MIL has taken shine to them to which we are so grateful. She has made friend's and doing really well. So thank you to all at Farnworth care home.
Your feedback is so rewarding to read and I sincerely thank you for taking the time to write a review of the care that your mother-in-law is receiving at Farnworth Care Home. We highly value all types of comments from people who are using our service so that we can continually learn from and...
The care my mum has received from the home during her time there has been outstanding. We as a family know that all her needs are being met and that she is cared for in a safe and loving environment. All the staff we deal with have always been friendly and polite, and have created a fantastic new home for my mum to live in and her family to visit.
Your review is an absolute delight to read, and we are ever so grateful to you for taking the time to leave feedback of yours and your loved ones experience. I am so happy that you both consider Farnworth Care Home to be Mum's new Home and I will share your feedback with the whole team who will continue to strive to provide the best levels of care for everyone living with us. Thank you, Jayms!
Farnworth care home is excellent, the staff from the managent to the cleaners are all first class. My mum who has dementia and is very deaf is thriving. She's 97 in May, at this rate she'll reach 100!
Wow! What an absolute joy to read your review of Farnworth Care Home. Receiving such positive feedback reassures us that what we do for everyone living at Farnworth Care Home is making a difference. We massively appreciate you taking the time to share your experiences and I will be sure to share these with the whole team. Thank you again, Jayms!
My mother has been resident at the home since mid 2025. The care home is clean, tidy, well decorated and on my mothers ward/floor is well run by staff such as Meena, (who is fabulous) and her colleagues. All the staff are approachable, kind and understanding.
There was an outbreak of scabies not too long ago and I felt the communication from the home should have been dealt with more effectively as both my mother and my father (who visits almost daily) contracted it, but when I questioned the management, they hid behind the 'we are following Health England's advice'. Sometimes (as we have seen in the recent past) Health England haven't been the bastion of truth!
Maybe lessons have been learned, time will tell that aside, my mother seems happy, the staff are vigilant/caring and aside from the above the ward/floor she is on and the wider home in general, is well run.
I would like to thank you for taking the time to share your experience of Farnworth Care Home so that we can continually evaluate and improve our service offering. I fully appreciate and take on board that you felt that we could have improved our communication following an outbreak of scabies...
I don't manage to visit that often because of my own circumstances but when I do, I am so impressed with every aspect of Farnworth Care Home. There is always a warm welcome and I can always get updates from staff about my friend's care and the things he has been doing. The last time I visited it was his birthday and there were birthday banners outside his room. The staff say he is so lovable and make him feel valued and treat him with dignity and respect. I can't fault Farnworth Care Home and I am happy knowing he is well looked after. Thank you to each and everyone of you.
We are ever so grateful to you for sharing your experience of Farnworth Care Home and are proud to read these wonderful comments. Rest assured we will continue to ensure that our Residents are at the centre of everything we do. Thank you, Jayms!
My Mum has been at Farnworth Care Home 12 mths now. It was a heart breaking decision and sometimes quite overwhelming. My Mum was struggling in so many ways and has found it difficult to adjust; however, the decision had to be made to keep her safe.
This wonderful gem of a place turned everything around. The staff, are Angels in disguise, from Management to housekeeper. They are wonderful individuals who care and they have given my Mum a better and safe quality of life, i couldn't ask for anymore. Knowing my Mum is in safe hands is all I can ask for.Mum looks better than she has done for years and my thanks goes to every member of staff.
What an absolute pleasure to read your lovely, kind feedback. Thank you! We highly value you taking the time to share your experience of Farnworth Care Home and I will ensure that your comments are shared with the whole team. Thank you again, Jayms!
My mother has been in Farnworth Care Home for 4 years. She is happy and always smiling which is all I want. All this is down to the way she is treated within the home. Staff are great on the Firwood unit (and everywhere else for that matter). They are engaging, patient and professional but also laid back in their approach providing lots of light hearted laughs and jokes which strikes a lovely balance and creates a really nice atmosphere. Thank you for preserving that smile and happiness that I associate with my mum despite the gradual and irreversible decline in her health.
We very much appreciate you taking the time to write a review of Farnworth Care Home. We are extremely grateful and thank you for your lovely comments which I will most certainly pass on to the Firwood Team. Thank you again, Jayms!

Meet the Team (1)

After qualifying as a Mental Health Nurse in 2007, I have gained over 15 years of experience working in the private care sector, predominantly with older adults. This area is especially important to me as I have experienced first-hand the negative side of caring for a loved one. I vowed to my profession that I would try my very hardest to ensure that nobody within my care would experience what I experienced. This is the ethos that I use each and every day.
