There is always a friendly welcome in the care home from reception, to staff. The place always smells fresh and clean, and the grounds are well maintained.
There always seems to be lots going on for the residents.

I have trust in the manager who follows up on things, which we have not always had in the past with previous managers.
The general atmosphere is good the manager is very positive with a can do attitude. There is a proactive attitude from the carers on the floor - that has improved under the current
management.
I feel that my wife is well looked after. We are awaiting for the GP to refer to physio.

Throughout the time my mum has been at Barleycroft I have observed her being well cared for and treated with dignity and respect by the day staff. They are to be commended for he work they do in sometimes very challenging circumstances and with regard to my mum I can only say that she is cared for with

Staff are excellent, keep the best interests of residents in mind. They do a very difficult job really well
Possibly need more staff.
Only negatives, perhaps better maintenance of rooms missing clothes, belongings etc.

When coming in to the home. Its a lovely place clean made to look nice. Since my mum has come in she has been well looked after any problems. the staff has been very understanding when I have needed to talk to the staff. they have comforted me when I needed it so I am very happy this is my mums home.

I find the Home lovely very friendly very well kept and my mother in law is very settled here.

Since my brother has been in home I feel he is a lot safer having 24hr care. Did have a few issues at start with clothing going missing even though it was labled but that has been ok lately. I find all the staff very welcoming when you first walk in front door it all looks very clean, and dinnertime
always smells lovely and looks very nice have been to functions and there fetes VE Day even singalong been most enjoyable on all times. Staff work hard but always have time when you need a word with them.

We all know it's difficult putting Parents in a home!
A. Everything I asked for was done in record speed, staff so very polite.
B. IT SMELLS BEAUTIFUL...not bolied cabbage and wee. So hat's off to All Staff.
C. Parents can refuse being cared for, getting everyone on side can be tricky.
D. For us
as children it is a big sigh of relief.
E. I visited today, I had issues and concerns as we worry! No more....little concerned about what we can supply and what they do, one telephone call will sort that tomorrow.
F. Extremely amiable, kind staff

I've been here for seven months, I have found that I feel better in myself. Staff have helped me to bring my sanity back. I feel that once I have a prosthetic leg, I will be good to go home. The new manager is very understanding and helpful. She is one of the only people in charge I have found it's

My amazing mum has been a resident here for the last 11 years.
We have a great team of nurses, carers and managers.
I visit Mum daily and participate in her care, and they work as a team with me!
I have no issues with the home, and to be honest, some carers are incredible!
Mum being here has enabled
me to continue working and get quality time with Mum as well. Food is always good with great choices and when Mum was eating solid food, I used to join her for a lovely Sunday roast lunch! And for only £1.00!
Mum is 97 now and on a puree diet, but they cater for her with no problem!

If you really care about your loved ones please do not send them here, my mum was a resident there for a few weeks and I can honestly say, that the home was filthy dirty, you wipe your feet on the way out.
They had mice in residents' rooms, the food was like slop and the majority of the staff were
rude, the residents were not properly cared for, minimal activities, residents spent most of the time in their rooms like prisoners.
Even Social Services were aware of the mice being in the home back in October 2023.
I am so glad I moved my mum out of here.

I am sorry to hear you had a negative experience with our home, September 2023. Since then, we have a new management team in place that have implemented positive changes in the home. In October 2023 we have applied many prevention and improvement measures to resolve this problem that was due to major building works surrounding Barleycroft which resulted in underground nests being disturbed also impacting the local community. We have a positive dining experience with fresh food prepared daily by our chefs who cater for individual specific dietary requirements. Recently been inspected by EHO maintaining the 5*rating as well as IPC achieving 93% which indicates very good hygiene achievement across the home. We have a good diverse care team at Barleycroft who are consistent and therefore ensure high standards of care to all our residents. All our activities planner is made with our residents taking into consideration everyone's wishes and medical condition. I hope Mum settled well in the new home.

My mother came to Barleycroft Care Home from hospital after spending several weeks at hospital. She was quite distressed as the new home was all so different to what she knew. Mum seems to have settled in well. The staff have been kind, caring and supportive in helping make Mum's next part of her journey
with dementia and less mobility.

Eleni has been our head chef at Barleycroft since we opened.


Eleni is originally from Cyprus and lived in England for 36 years. She has been with us for 18 years.


Eleni said she has a passion for healthy eating providing a healthy balanced diet nutrition and keeping fit.


“We started ready meals with Apetito and I was not very keen to serve ready-made meals to the residents. Slowly, slowly we started with one meal created from scratch per week which was a roast dinner.


We now serve four weekly menus prepared from scratch.
I like chatting with the residents and getting their feedback about the meals.

After a long tiring day, it is good to hear positive comments about the meals from residents
