My sister, Olive, has been in the Barleycroft Care Home from July 2024. During that time, as next of kin, I have been kept informed of Olive's state of health and treatments proscribed by the visiting G.P.
I have had good contact wth the staff when visiting the home, finding them informative to questions asked and in all, generally helpful.

My sister seems happy in her situation and does not complain about how she is treated.

I have trust in the manager who follows up on things, which we have not always had in the past with previous managers.
The general atmosphere is good the manager is very positive with a can do attitude. There is a proactive attitude from the carers on the floor - that has improved under the current management.

I feel that my wife is well looked after. We are awaiting for the GP to refer to physio.

Throughout the time my mum has been at Barleycroft I have observed her being well cared for and treated with dignity and respect by the day staff. They are to be commended for he work they do in sometimes very challenging circumstances and with regard to my mum I can only say that she is cared for with love and humour and made to feel very valued, which is so important

Staff are excellent, keep the best interests of residents in mind. They do a very difficult job really well
Possibly need more staff.

Only negatives, perhaps better maintenance of rooms missing clothes, belongings etc.

Since my brother has been in home I feel he is a lot safer having 24hr care. Did have a few issues at start with clothing going missing even though it was labled but that has been ok lately. I find all the staff very welcoming when you first walk in front door it all looks very clean, and dinnertime always smells lovely and looks very nice have been to functions and there fetes VE Day even singalong been most enjoyable on all times. We all know it's difficult putting Parents in a home!
A. Everything I asked for was done in record speed, staff so very polite.
B. IT SMELLS BEAUTIFUL...not bolied cabbage and wee. So hat's off to All Staff.
C. Parents can refuse being cared for, getting everyone on side can be tricky.
D. For us as children it is a big sigh of relief.
E. I visited today, I had issues and concerns as we worry! No more....little concerned about what we can supply and what they do, one telephone call will sort that tomorrow.

F. Extremely amiable, kind staff

I've been here for seven months, I have found that I feel better in myself. Staff have helped me to bring my sanity back. I feel that once I have a prosthetic leg, I will be good to go home. The new manager is very understanding and helpful. She is one of the only people in charge I have found it's easy to talk to.

Natalie had worked in care homes for over 8 years in senior roles, and uses the ethos that " She works in her residents' home, they do not live in her place of work".

Eleni said she has a passion for healthy eating, providing a healthy, balanced diet, nutrition and keeping fit.

“We started ready meals with Apetito, and I was not very keen to serve ready-made meals to the residents. Slowly, slowly, we started with one meal created from scratch per week, which was a roast dinner.

We now serve four weekly menus prepared from scratch.
I like chatting with the residents and getting their feedback about the meals.

After a long, tiring day, it is good to hear positive comments about the meals from residents
