Symonds House provided excellent care for my father-in-law. Staff were all fully informed as to his condition and needs. Great care was demonstrated at all times. We were allowed to visit 24/7 (this says a lot to me). We did visit very regularly and staff always kept us informed of any changes. The first thing you notice is the building is old and needs some TLC, however it's of no importance when you receive such wonderful care!!!

My father received excellent care at Symonds House Nursing Home in the two weeks he was there. He was always well nourished with delicious food, spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable. All the staff we encountered were so lovely. Very, very caring with lovely bedside manner. We couldn't fault it and the only reason he left was to move nearer family. Sincere thanks to you all.

The care my Mum receives at Symonds House is lovely. The team go above and beyond to make sure she's comfortable, happy, and well looked after-even down to making sure her hot chocolate is just how she likes it. The staff are friendly, kind, compassionate, and always manage to make her smile. I have complete peace of mind knowing she's in such good hands.

My sister-in-law has been well supported and looked after in this nursing home. Her room is airy and clean. Her carers are friendly and helpful. When visiting we are always made welcome.

The fabric of the home is very tired and I would love for someone to help spruce it up.

My husband has now been a resident of Symonds House for over two years.
During this time I have found the staff to be most efficient and caring, and always very friendly.
The rooms are always spotless and laundry is done daily.
The food is very well prepared and with a good variety., meeting my husband's particular needs.

I have no hesitation at all in recommending Symonds House and their staff for giving a warm welcome and exemplary care.

The staff who care for Mum are helpful and kind. Mum does seem to be relaxed and calm. However, Mum does not always understand what is being asked of her, and rather than attempt to communicate in a slightly different way, the instruction tends to be repeated and repeated, which is not really going to get the result. I wonder if some further training for staff on managing residents with dementia would be of use.

Unfortunately, I am not always kept up to date with situations by the office. I received notification that Spec Savers were visiting residents in early July, and I was keen for mum to be included. However, I am still waiting to receive an update on whether Mum needs a new glasses prescription or if there are any further concerns relating to her vision.

Symonds House is a historic building and sorely in need of refurbishment.

However all the members of staff, at all levels, are caring, respectful and dedicated. My husband, who has dementia, can be challenging to deal with at times, but the staff seem to be able to calm and reassure him.

When visiting Symonds House everyone, staff & residents, seem happy and relaxed. Staff are approachable, rooms clean, food is served at specific times and my relatives medical needs are met. It is an old building but utilised well. There are activities taking place and staff can't do enough for residents or family. When visiting we are always offered refreshments.

When my father first went to symonds house there were a lot more staff to for fill his needs but I feel with the lack of staff. That are there now I worry his needs are not being meet anymore. I have been in the service in the last 2 years. Since then, the management has increased the staffing to meet our Resident's needs better. All staff are instructed not to leave any resident they are assisting to do another activity at all cost. Patient safety is paramount to us. Every day is...

My mum was admitted to Symonds House Linton for respite care from the hospital, I am so pleased she was, she had 1 to 1 care 24 hours a day which was extended to 2 weeks as she did not make the progress that had been hoped for.
The staff have been exceptional not only caring for Mum but also making sure the extended family are okay. Always had time for a chat when it was needed. Sadly, Mum is now on end-of-life care. She is pain-free, clean, happy and comfortable. The building may not be the prettiest but the care by far makes up for that.

Thank you all at Symonds House, you are all doing an amazing job.

I have to be honest, Symonds House is not pretty on the inside. This is the only negative thing I can say about the home. My mother-in-law is receiving respite care and is being looked after with an abundance of care and compassion. Every single carer and nurse has been so kind to Mum but also extends this to her large family. We are always greeted with a smile and an update on her condition and usually asked if we would like a cuppa! Please don't judge Symonds house on appearance alone, the care given is exemplary and we all know which is most important.

My mother had five falls in total in this home, none ever witnessed, always told she had been found on the floor, one fall resulting in a fractured pelvis. This fall was never reported to safeguarding but my mother was charged for extra care as they didn’t have enough staff to look after her one on one. The staff shortages were never reported to the QCQ for that time. The next fall resulted in a broken hip again, nobody saw the fall but they picked her up and put her in bed. Ten hours later she was finally taken to the hospital where she ended up having palliative surgery and will never walk again. Several times we reported the cleanliness of my mother's room this unfortunately never changed.

Dad became a resident of Symonds House Nursing Home in September 2018, following a long battle with vascular dementia. During his time there, we found the levels of care and support provided to Dad to be exceptional. The staff are extremely dedicated, professional and hard-working. Whether it be the nurses, carers, housekeeping team, kitchen staff, management team etc, they all had a crucial role to play in providing Dad with such a high level of care. Sadly, in the last couple of weeks, Dad passed away peacefully. The Symonds House team were so supportive to Dad and our family in those final weeks, always respectful and professional but showing great compassion and support. A heartfelt thank you to the team from our family. From our personal experience, we can highly recommend Symonds House and their amazing team.

My mother was admitted to Symonds House for palliative care around September 2020 from a local hospital. In an already difficult time plus covid, I was happy to find the care home so quaint and comfortable. And I was able to visit with PPE.
The staff were/are so happy helpful and professional, and made my difficult time more bearable. Always willing to offer a drink, a chat, and were there for my mum when she most needed their expert help in this awful pandemic.
Thank you, everyone, as I said many times, I couldn't have done it without your help.
Keep doing what you do so well, let's hope now your valuable work is recognized as its
much appreciated and needed.

Thank you, true heroes.
