Laxfield House eased the last few days of her life with care and dignity. She passed away gently without pain. We were able to assist this procedure and give her as much support as possible. We cannot speak more highly of the care.

My mother has been a resident in Laxfield House for almost 2 years after a lengthy stay in hospital resulting in her needing continued nursing care. She is extremely happy there and we can't praise the Management/nursing staff and carers highly enough. She is not able to attend to her personal care
herself but is always clean and tidy. From what we have seen of the meals they are always of a high standard and the residents choose from a varied menu. The corridors and communal areas always look very clean and tidy whilst maintaining a relaxed homely feel. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and family and visitors are always made to feel very welcome. The large conservatory overlooking beautiful gardens is my mother's favourite place to spend her day in a comfortable reclining chair.
We highly recommend Laxfield House to anyone looking for a caring and safe environment for their elderly relative.

My father has been looked after by all the staff to the highest of standards. He is very poorly, but the staff all treat him with respect and as an adult, it is great to see, all his needs are fully taken care of by the very professional, attentive, caring staff. I cannot rate the people highly enough.
Laxfield
House is a very smart building with fantastic surrounding gardens that are kept very neat and tidy. The setting is very tranquil in the village of Brent Eleigh. The interior of the house is also very neat and tidy, the en-suite bedrooms are all of a good size and the conservatory is exceptional with great views over the well-kept garden. The house is kept at a nice temperature throughout the day and night, and the windows let in bags of light.
At this traumatic time for my close family, we couldn’t wish for a better place for my father to be in and cared for and we will be forever in the debt of the people who make Laxfield House the superb nursing home that it is.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.702)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.702) out of 10 for Laxfield House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.802 for Laxfield House is calculated as follows: ( (85 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 106 Ratings = 4.802
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Laxfield House is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 34 registered maximum number of service users is 6.8, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I have been the Matron / Manager at Laxfield House for 15 years. I qualified as a registered general nurse over 40 years ago and still use my nursing skills daily. I have a background in nursing within the NHS and private nursing homes. I moved to peripatetic management, regional and operational management at senior level within the corporate environment and obtained a wealth experience.

I have always been passionate about good and thorough nursing care and came to Laxfield House as the environment is a calm and caring one, with an infrastructure of skill and knowledge.

I am very proud of my excellent team of dedicated nursing and care staff here at Laxfield House and the way they provide a very high standard to care, attention and whilst respecting resident dignity at all times.

My free time is spent enjoying life with husband, children and grandchildren and can often be found on the local waterways in my trusty Kayak !
