My mother-in-law’s dementia took a turn for the worse, and we needed respite care. St Peter’s House was amazing, quick, professional, and so lovely and friendly. Sadly she was only in 2-nights before passing away, we were so so thankful for there care and support throughout. I would highly recommend!

Thank you for your kind words, and I am so pleased that we were able to provide care and support to your mother-in-law.

Wouldn't take my 88-year-old father back from hospital on the end of life on the 23/12/2020 after a negative result from coronavirus. We phoned St Peter's again on the 24/12/2020, still negative result. Refused to have him back so he could isolate in his room which he had for nearly two years.

Reply from Will Neal, Director at St Peter's House Care Home

We were very sad not to be able to readmit this gentleman back into the home following his exposure to COVID-19 at the hospital. We are honoured to look after up to 66 people here at St Peter’s House and sadly we could not take the risk of bringing back someone who (contrary to this review) did actually receive a positive COVID-19 test whilst in hospital.

My daughter initially found St Peters by accident when trawling through websites to find a home for my mother. I had visited others which felt stark and uncaring albeit with new furniture and decorations. St Peter’s may not have the fancy frills of other care homes, but they do have such a different welcoming feel of ‘home’ and residents are truly loved and cared for by the amazing team they have.

My family have all be made so welcome, and prior to Covid, we shared some special times with my mother and staff at the home. Nothing is ever too much of a problem, and reception staff have been amazing how they have adapted to FaceTime calls and ‘safe’ visits over the past year. I feel the staff all know my mum well and understand her problems, and I am so pleased she is being cared for by the team at St Peter's. St Peter’s is not just a business out to make money, but a community offering special care to my mum and other residents. I recommend them highly.

Thank you for your review and kind words.
This year there are plans in progress to refurbish, however, we will maintain the same warm and welcoming home environment for all.
Yes, definitely agree that we have had many fun times, building new memories with residents, friends, families and will continue to do so.

Looking forward to the times ahead.

All staff at St Peter's House treat my aunt and family with respect and dignity. Pre-pandemic they welcome family and visitors and encourage us to stay and share meals. They keep me fully informed about her care needs and reviews. I have a lot of respect for the team and welcome their transparency and open-door policy. They have gone out of their way to understand and respond to my aunt's needs.

Thank you for your kind words.
The visitor's room is working well to enable safe visits, but we are all looking forward to a time when we are able to welcome friends/ families back into our home again.

Teams ensure that the care and welfare of all residents are person-centred and are responsive to changing needs.

Very caring and homely. I feel secure that Mum is well looked after by a fantastic team of staff. In today’s difficult time of Covid, not only do I feel relaxed knowing that Mum is loved and cared for by her family, St Peter’s House, but they also try their best to let you interact with your loved ones, be it by FaceTime, a visit outside when possible or through a screen.

Facetimes and the safe visiting room have worked extremely well and enabled Mum and other residents to maintain contact during these strange times.

I know that your mum always looks forward to chatting with you on Facetime.

St Peter’s House was recommended to me by a friend because her own mother had been so well cared for here. I feel incredibly grateful to the staff who understand dementia extremely well. They work alongside each resident, ensuring that they are as happy and comfortable as is possible. My father has advanced dementia and is also very frail at 91 years, his key worker deserves huge recognition for her skill through the pandemic, enabling my Dad to have video calls with me. She understands him so well, and she has the ability to make him smile and reassure him that he is loved. I cannot praise this home and all it’s wonderful staff enough.

St Peter's House is a wonderful care home. My mother, who had Alzheimer's, was looked after sensitively and with great kindness and respect during the time she lived there. All the people who work there are kind, caring, hardworking and professional. The kitchen provides excellent meals and residents can choose what and when they eat and drink. There are lots of well-planned activities organised including trips, musical events and arts and crafts. The end of life care is compassionate and dignified. I would not hesitate to recommend St Peters to anyone looking for a good quality care home.
