I found the care excellent. The level of "Nursing" care e.g washing was exceptional. Also the care of personal clothes at the laundry was excellent.
Staff were friendly and really treated you as an individual that they were genuinely interested in, often using their initiative beyond the absolute essential tasks!

Manager office staff were pleasant efficient

Overall the home does its best. Two thirds of the staff arent English therefore communication & culture makes a differen! My cousin is almost blind and hard of hearing - although this is stated outside the door not always observed! (Maybe forgotten to leave a glass or towels until the evening - she (my cousing) was given a boiled egg with a fork & knife & the top of the egg still on!! But there are many kind staff who go out of their way to help! The weekends are not good - mostly agency staff, service not so good they don't know the residents - very little or no activities at this time. Reception - Julie - brilliant. Jeremy & Tracey (activities) brilliant!!

Mum had been a resident in the care home for the last 4 years. At first it took a while for her to settle in after living independently in her own place but as the staff were very welcoming and mum found a fondness in the staff caring for her.

The home is lovely, all the staff including the Manager, Admin and health workers are very helpful and friendly and will assist with any issue you may have. Jeremy & Tracy are the entertainments members of staff and organises some good entertainment or trips out for the residents. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped with a TV and furniture.

I came to Field House as a service user to join a resident at Christmas time to be taken around Bristol to see all the Christmas lights. The managers Dee and Holly took a couple of us out after hours in their van to look at all the Christmas light displays. We had a great time. I had tea and cake with staff before we went out. I'll be doing more activities.

It's a difficult decision when choosing a care home for your beloved mum. We made the right choice with Field House. The personal care has been excellent and equally important was the relationships that she built with the staff. All staff were very caring - the office staff, nurses, carers, activity staff, cleaners, laundry staff & kitchen staff - even if it was to say a quick hello. Mum was there for 20 months and she was happy & settled there.

I am the daughter-in-law of a service user. She was fortunate enough to be taken out in December by Field House staff and another resident to see the Christmas lights all around the Bristol area. It was such a lovely experience for her and staff were caring, reassuring and friendly, which put my MIL at ease as she has Alzheimers and really doesn't like to go out that much. She told me all about her adventure and despite her memory issues it has stayed with her as a lovely experience she still recalls. Well done to the staff involved.

Our first experience of a care home facility exceeded all of our expectations. Dad needed care after a hospital stay. The home itself is spotless, staff amazing, food all home cooked, onsite entertainment and outings all made Dad's care here wonderful. Residents looked after like family.

My mum was a resident at Field House for 4 years. She loved all of the staff and was very happy in the last years of her life. Mum was looked after with so much care and compassion not only by the nursing/care staff but by all of the staff. The family was also cared for by the home especially in the last days. We were given food, drink and so much support. We will never forget Field House and all of its staff.

My 91-year-old sister has been at Field House for sixteen months and has been cared for brilliantly and consistently, despite advancing dementia. The staff and management are professional, but caring, and do what their publicity says - they put the residents first. A well-run home. I recommend it to others.

The staff at Field House, from the management, nursing and care staff to the maintenance, cleaning and kitchen staff, all are a credit to the business. Time is taken to know their residents in their care. Sometimes when possible, an outing will be arranged for individuals to bring specific pleasure from an interest or place they remember. I'm more than happy with the care provided.

My mum stayed here, started with mum not feeling too well and finished much better. The nurse worked great with the Doctors to achieve this and the care staff were so professional kind, patient, caring and safety conscious. There was also entertainment which kept mum's spirits up, that team was great. The office staff were lovely helpful and kind. Mum became comfortable here and sad to leave. So very grateful to all the staff. A great team.

My Mum went to Field House for an assessment after surgery following a bad fall. She had always been independent and was uncertain how she would cope in a nursing environment. The staff from the carers to the laundry ladies were so kind that Mum felt at home almost immediately. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was very good (especially the puddings) and everything was cooked on the premises. I would like to thank everyone for their kindness. I would have no hesitation in recommending Field House.

My mother came to this home after spending several weeks in hospital due to fracturing her shoulder. From the first day Mum went into Field House until the day she was discharged to another care home, we were delighted with the care she received, although at first, she was quite confused. Dee
Dee Job Title:Nurse managerJoined: 2007

I started my career in nursing 41 years ago, in 1982, as a Nursing Assistant in Hortham Hospital, for people with learning disability. I started my nurse training in 1985 and I have worked in various clinical settings since qualifying as a nurse.

I first started as a Registered Nurse Manager in 1993 in a nursing home working for Southmead Health Authority. Later on, I worked at Brandon Trust in various managerial roles for people with learning disability. I then worked in the private sector in elderly care.

After a short break, I commenced my career with Bristol Care Homes in 2017 at Field House as a Carer. I have worked in various roles within Field House becoming a Registered Nurse Manager in September 2018. I enjoy working for Bristol Care Homes as I like the values and philosophy of the organisation. They value the staff and strive for positive outcomes for the residents who live within the homes.

I am dedicated and passionate about my role and enjoy working with both staff and residents.

I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my granddaughter, looking after my dogs, and travelling to various destinations.

Holly Green
Holly GreenJob Title:Deputy Nurse ManagerJoined: 2025

Hello! I’m Holly, Deputy Nurse Manager here at Field House. Caring for others has always been part of who I am - my mum even wrote in my baby book that I’d grow up to be a nurse!

I began my journey in care in 2003 at 18 as a bank care assistant and worked my way up through senior roles before qualifying as a Registered Mental Health Nurse in 2021. My passion for mental health care is deeply personal, and I’m dedicated to creating a safe, supportive environment for every resident.

At Field House, I oversee well-being, manage care plans, and make sure daily life runs smoothly. I love getting to know our residents and helping them feel truly at home.

Fun fact: I was named after the musician Buddy Holly, so music has always been a big part of my life!

I look forward to welcoming you and making your time with us as comfortable and fulfilling as possible.

Marcia Ellington
Marcia EllingtonJob Title:Well-being ManagerJoined: 2017

I’ve been working at Bristol Care Homes since 2017.

Bristol Care Homes is a great organisation to work for because they value their staff just as much as they value their residents, and their vision is something I am very passionate about. Having grandparents on both sides affected by dementia, I have the greatest empathy for the elderly and those who are living with it.

I want to make a difference in the lives of the residents by taking a holistic approach and providing relevant activities. Important and meaningful.

Within this company, there are excellent training opportunities for development and growth; in my case, I progressed from Activities Co-ordinator to Social Engagement and Well-being Manager in three years, something I am very proud of.

I enjoy spending time with my family away from work. I like singing, dancing, and taking my dogs for walks. Knowing how valuable life is, I like to live it to the fullest.
