Reviews

9.3 Meadowcare Home has a Review Score of 9.3 (9.303)

The Review Score of 9.3 (maximum of 10) for Meadowcare Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 8 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Meadowcare Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.568 for Meadowcare Home is calculated as follows: ( (59 Excellents x 5) + (31 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 95 Ratings = 4.568

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.735 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Meadowcare Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 6.8 positive Reviews (34 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 5 Reviews ÷ 6.8 Target = 0.735

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Alzheimer's is a dreadful debilitating disease and if the law was different, we would never have wanted to reach the stage of needing to go into a dementia home. That said, Meadowcare provided an exceptional service in sad circumstances. The staff really care and are incredibly responsive. They recruit happy staff with a sunny disposition which makes a real difference. The team genuinely work as a team under strong, fair and professional leadership. Highly recommended.

My aunt has lived at Meadowcare Home for 7 months now having had a long protracted hospital admission. She has a long history of issues with her mental health and now dementia, but has settled incredibly well at Meadowcare. Whenever I visit she appears happy and content. The staff are caring and compassionate in their approaches to residents and staffing levels seem good. I have also been pleased with the variety of activities available to her.

Staff ratio at Meadowcare Home, Bristol is excellent, furthermore, the staff are well trained and therefore able to deal with the most difficult situations.
For example, I have witnesses residents becoming very distressed (due to their dementia) on several occasions and the staff are very good at both calming their anxieties and diverting their attention.

Thank you very much for these kind words. At Meadowcare we strive to ensure our residents are well cared for and through training staff have a very good understanding of Dementia and what it means to live with such an illness.

Choosing Meadowcare nursing home has been very good for my mother. She has been very settled and is never agitated, or restless when we visit her.
The staff are very approachable so if I have any concerns I can always discuss them and always come to some suitable decision.
It is reassuring to know my mother is being cared for in a homely environment.

Thank you for your comments - very much appreciated.

My mother and I viewed, and rejected a number of nursing homes before this one. This was the first that we felt confident would provide the care we wanted for my father.

The manager showed us around and made a very positive impression on Mum and me. She was energetic, warm, enthusiastic and it was obvious that she cared very much about the residents. She had met Dad the day before and seemed to have a good understanding, from that brief meeting, what kind of man he was and what made him tick.

The room was big and clean, nicely decorated and had a lovely en-suite. The corridors were clear and uncluttered. Every member of staff we encountered on our tour smiled and said hello.

The home isn't everything we were looking for, but like most things in life, we felt we had to be prepared to make some compromises. I'm pleased to say that our first impressions and instinct were right, and we have no regrets about placing Dad in this home.

Thank you for taking the time to give feedback. It's a privilege to be able to care for your Dad alongside our other residents and your comments are very much appreciated. The management and staff work very hard to ensure our residents are cared for in a positive, warm and homely atmosphere and comments such as yours help others who are looking for a Nursing Home for their loved one.

I was recommended Meadowcare nursing home by the discharge team at Southmead Hospital in Bristol. I went for a viewing. Directly as I walked through the door, there was a lovely ambience. I was greeted by friendly happy faces, who were very helpful. I was taken to the bedroom that my husband could occupy. It was completely repainted, with bed linen and curtains to match, very pleasing. I then went to the communal area, where residents were clean and happy. I knew this was the place I could trust my husband to. After nearly 7 weeks at Meadowcare I have not been disappointed, his every need is attended to by a very special team. They keep me informed of everything I should know regarding my husband.

They cared for my wife who suddenly became unwell, as she broke her hip and had early dementia. She was cared for at Meadowcare and right from the start her every want was cared for. Her Alzheimers was handled with respect and understanding. The staff also kept an eye on any problems that might develop, like getting out of bed in the night. My wife needed a special bed with sides to keep her safe. There is also lots of daily amusement and stimulation for the residents.
