Having a loved one suffering with dementia so that they can no longer live outside a care home is difficult, and finding a home where you feel they are cared for and supported take the sadness away a little. We, my bothers and I feel we have found that and more at Meadowcare. This is the second home
that my father has stayed in, and the most important thing that stands out at Meadowcare is the staff, they know dad well and treat him with respect, kindness and understanding. Often when visiting I am told about something he has said or done, or just how he's been since my previous visit. He's not a great one for activities, but is included when he can be persuaded. Meadowcare have designated activity staff who work with a group of individuals on a one to one. I don't worry about him getting washed, or dressed, hygiene, or tidiness of his room because everything is always as you hope whenever I visit, and I rarely visit the same days each week. The staff welcome and are interested our whole family, and when my elderly mother visits she is cared for too.
Reply from Francis Castillo, Home Manager at Meadowcare HomeThank you so much for sharing this. It really means a lot to us to hear that your dad feels settled and well looked-after here. The team know him well and genuinely enjoy spending time with him, so it's lovely to know that comes across when you visit. We're also really glad your whole family feels welcome and supported and that's important to us. We'll continue doing our best to keep him comfortable, safe, and treated with the kindness he deserves.

My sister has been a resident at Meadowcare for nearly 4 years, and in all that time we (her son, her other sister and myself) have been more than satisfied with every aspect of the care provided. Meadowcare is a home we would recommend to anyone seeking excellent care for a loved one.
Reply from Francis Castillo, Home Manager at Meadowcare HomeWe're really grateful that you took the time to share this. An excellent experience - now entering its forth year. As Meadowcare only has residents with various stages of Dementia and Alzheimer's, this appears to have created a centre of excellent where all the staff have a good understanding of the 'up and down' nature of the illness. The care provided to my
mother by the nurses is outstanding and the management very approachable. First class!
Reply from Francis Castillo, Home Manager at Meadowcare HomeThank you so much for sharing your experience. We're delighted to hear that your mother has felt well cared for and supported over the past four years. Our team works hard to understand each resident's individual needs, and it's wonderful to know this has made a positive difference for her and for your family. Your kind words mean a lot to us, and we'll continue to do everything we can to provide the best possible care.

The family has been so pleased with the care mum has received at Meadowcare Home. The staff are all amazing so patient, caring and positive. There is plenty of activities and entertainment and she has made firm friends. She has also regained weight and mobility. We are always made to feel welcome and
involved.

So lucky to find Meadowcare Home for my dear wife. Meadowcare felt like a home and not institution. Diane's room sunny/bright with a suite facility, house always warm and clean and what a lovely caring staff. My wife nicely dressed each day for her day in the social room. Two wonderful social and entertainer
ladies who constantly endeavor to stimulate and exercise residents. Management always very friendly and I was always made to feel at home 10/10

My mother has resided in this care home for a number of years.
She is well cared for by all her attend her needs.
She is up and dressed and in the community room each and every time I've visited.
She is made to join in activities such as bingo, painting, colouring in etc.
She enjoys these and the
constant parties that are organised.
I feel she is safe and secure and well looked after, which is a great relief to us all.

My mum was given the utmost professional care during the end-of-life care at this wonderful nursing home. From the moment I arrived on my initial visit, I was made to feel so welcome and this view was sustained by the actual experience. Warm, attentive, diligent staff. Inspiring activities, comfortable
communal areas and bedrooms. I highly recommend Meadowcare as a place where care is not just a word.

I had a good experience as my Mum was either in her room or in the downstairs room. The staff were very helpful in helping obtain a health declaration I needed.
One minor issue is that you can be stuck inside or outside the front door, waiting to be buzzed in or out. The bigger issue seems to be delays
getting out.
Reply from Francis Castillo, Home Manager at Meadowcare HomeThank you for leaving us feedback. We do give the exit code to our visitors but not the entry code due to safety and security reasons. Throughout the year the staff at the care home have done an excellent job caring for mother, who can be a handful at times. That's a lot to do where being in charge and not liking people telling her what to do. She has lost the power in her legs and can't get around, it's a real downer. Mum's always
been capable being a here, there, everywhere person. It's a real bane for her to comprehend.

We placed our mum with Meadowcare from October 2023 to May 2024 when she passed away. Throughout the process, the Meadowcare team were excellent at what they did, kept us fully informed about her health and happiness and cared for her brilliantly. At the end, the staff were enormously sensitive and
left us to experience Mum’s final moments. She had a peaceful and beautiful passing as a result.
We would highly recommend Meadowcare to others. Thank you Meadowcare for everything.

Hi, my mum received excellent care at the Meadowcare Home. She has come to think of the girls as part of the family and has offered them to come home with her. The atmosphere was upbeat and all around a genuinely pleasant place for her to reside while things were in motion to get her home. The carers
would go above and beyond in the care they took to look after her.

Meadowcare are brilliant!
My grandad was always looked after, he was always clean, happy and I don’t have a bad word to say!
The staff are friendly and caring. Thanks for everything you have done for my grandad, my family appreciate it all. In the last years of my grandad's life, we as a family felt
my grandad was in safe hands. If something was up, my family were always kept updated and informed. We had regular photo updates and could see how relaxed and comfortable he really was.
There were lots of activities that my grandad participated in, which he enjoyed and he always had a smile on his face.

Not sure if teeth cleaning is a priority, I know staff are very busy but dental hygiene is said to be important for general health.
Could residents be encouraged to go to the toilet as opposed to waiting for them to ask?
Everyone I have met at Meadowcare has been outstanding, always cheerful, alert,
helpful and kind, both to residents and visitors.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.753)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.753) out of 10 for Meadowcare Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 21 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.753 for Meadowcare Home is calculated as follows: ( (193 Excellents x 5) + (47 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 247 Ratings = 4.753
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Meadowcare Home is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 34 registered maximum number of service users is 6.8, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
