Robinson House is a 70-bed care home providing support for older people with nursing and clinical needs, as well as dementia-specific care.

The lounges and rooms are comfortable and designed with dementia care in mind, looking out onto private, secure gardens with plenty of areas for residents and visiting friends and family to sit and catch up with their loved ones.

In addition to a core nursing and care team who provide exceptional clinical expertise and personal care, Robinson House has a team of homemakers who focus on social interactions, activities and well-being. Homemakers can provide 1:1 social interaction, group activities and entertainment, as well as organise trips out to various locations. Residents could be at the zoo one day and enjoying a trip on a steam train the next.

The home has been awarded a Butterfly Care Model Accreditation by Dementia Care Matters for achieving the highest of a recognised national standard in dementia care, and platinum status by the Gold Standards Framework for Care Homes, for high-quality end of life care.

A big thank you from all the family for looked so well after our mum. All your help and understanding was much appreciated. We loved the way you even played her Irish music and made her cups of tea perfectly to her taste.

I have found Robinson House to get better over the last year and there are a number of staff who are wonderful and really care. Sometimes I go in and there is no one around but they do have a lot of residents in rooms. The rooms and decor are much improved as the fees, albeit competitive are massive
and the system stinks. There should be more help or tax breaks for people who have saved all their lives. The home is very convenient for me and although mum is asleep a lot in the days, she goes on some fab trips organised by the team who are amazing. Also the food and kitchen staff are great. I am happy with it now as didn't feel it was being managed in past year very well. Would recommend.

I've been visiting for the last 5 yrs and have always found staff polite, caring and approachable whether they are part of the care staff, housekeeping, kitchen or admin.
Individual rooms and facilities are always kept clean, the wet rooms could be modernised but perfectly functionable however, would
also be nice for Mum to have at least a weekly bath.
Food is always good, sometimes a little repetitive. For a small charge relatives can also eat, a daily menu of soup , choice of two main courses and dessert is always confirmed in advance and the kitchen staff can be flexible if necessary and able to offer an alternative to the daily menu.
Activities are varied including occasional trips out and monthly entertainers which Mum enjoys. Relatives can join in too. Sadly in the last few years both the tea room and quiet room have been repurposed.
Care is good but staff levels seem low which, in my opinion, feels staff no longer have time to just sit with residents for any length of time.

Mum has only been a resident for 3 weeks. We looked around about 6 care homes and chose Robinson House as it felt the friendliest home. They were the 1sr home to offer us a cup of tea. When we looked around every member of staff we saw spoke to us. It felt warm and welcoming.
As I said mum has only
been there for 3 weeks but looks better than she has for ages. She's clean, food is excellent (we have even been offered a meal if we ate there at the time. The staff are lovely, friendly and very helpful.
Would recommend it to anybody looking a home for a loved one. X

The reception is always very polite and friendly. It is very clean, there are always cleaners about the floor tidying and keeping the individual service rooms clean. They cater to everybody's needs, and the kitchen staff don't mind preparing something different on short notice. The staff are friendly
and polite, but I have found that there are loads of times where staff have been short, which can affect the care my family member has had in the waiting time.

My sister & I always visited our mum every day until the viral infection allowed only 1 visitor so now we alternate.
On Thursday 13th Feb I visited at 4:00 pm, Mum's dinner was still there & she had not had a dessert or a cup of tea in the afternoon. I left at 5:00 pm and no-one had been in to check
on her or bring her evening tea.
I visited again on the Saturday at 3:15 pm. She pointed out to me that her bed was soaking & her top was full of her dinner. After trying to find staff after 20 mins 2 carers came to change her & her bed. She had also soiled herself.
On several occasions while I've been visiting there has been no presence of staff checking on her & they should be helping her to eat her dinner.

I was very upset and worried that my wife had to go into a care home, but Robinson House is absolutely amazing, the staff are all first class, very caring and on the ball with everything and are very approachable if you want to talk to them about anything. The food is very good, the rooms and facilities
are very good, the place is modern and clean, it's like a hotel. I cannot speak highly enough of the place and everyone who works there.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.128)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.128) out of 10 for Robinson House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.585 for Robinson House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (83 Excellents x 5) + (23 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 118 Ratings = 4.585
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.543 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Robinson House Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 14 = 0.643
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
