Mum went into Edgemont View for 2 weeks of respite care in February 2024 and stayed until she died on June 1st 2024. Our only regret was that we didn't find Edgemont sooner. The care, kindness and love for Mum and our family was wonderful and the dignity she had in her last days was humbling. The home-cooked
food was excellent and the events, therapy, pastimes and nursing were exceptional. We cannot praise them enough.

My brother went into Edgemont View on 18th March from hospital, as soon as we saw how the staff were with him we knew this was the right place for him to be cared for properly. He was very poorly and sadly was only there for a few weeks before he passed away, how we wish he had been placed in Edgemont
View when he first had to go into care.
Can't thank the manager, carers and nursing staff enough for their care and compassion.

My wife went to Edgemont View from hospital on Pathway 3 and stayed for 6 weeks. She was welcomed and made to feel at home immediately: she had complex physical and mental problems but received the very best care and treatment from the carers and medical staff there which contributed significantly towards
her progress to the point where she could return home. It was obvious to me from the time I spent there that all the staff were committed to providing a 'home from home' environment, showing an interest in the residents beyond just 'doing their jobs'. We feel lucky to have been allocated a place at Edgemont View and recommend them to anyone.

Fortunately Edgemont View had a bed, and at that point, we didn't realise how lucky we were.
They assessed Dad at home and took him in, unfortunately his health was not as robust as he had been making out. He immediately felt secure and safe, and sadly within a short time passed away.
The staff were
always polite, respectful, cheerful and outstandingly kind. My only wish is that he had entered sooner so that he could have enjoyed his stay more. There is always a registered nurse on duty, and this provides excellent continuity of care.
The lounge is happy and residents have access to a wide range of activities.
The food was good, with options for blended meals readily available.
The staff are very caring to all, with some individual residents receiving a sing-song before bedtime, a little like reading a story to a toddler. These small immeasurable acts of kindness make this well run home very special.
Thank you for an unforgettable short spell, we couldn't have wished for better care.

My mum was a resident of Edgemont View from June 2016 until January 2019. She came from hospital, very poorly. Over a relatively short period, the staff, through encouragement, managed to get her engaged with the place and after a few days days in bed, she was well enough to go downstairs into the
lounge. There she was given a position in the conservatory which she enjoyed as she preferred to be a little remote from the activities going on around her. She liked plants and I was able to provide her with some to make her feel more at home. This included quite a large rubber plant.

The reason why Edgemont View is so good is the community feel the place has.
It isn't the most palatial but it does have excellent care and genuine concern. The staff have a good sense of humour and engage well with the residents and visitors.
I saw my Mum most days and was always welcomed openly. Because of their good communication, problems were generally solved early before they became serious.

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.510)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.510) out of 10 for Edgemont View is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.909 for Edgemont View is calculated as follows: ( (20 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 22 Ratings = 4.909
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.601 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Edgemont View is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 21 registered maximum number of service users is 4.2. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 4.2 = 0.476
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
