Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Respite stay May 2018.
Staff encourage you to do as much for yourself even if it took longer. My family noticed no odours in common areas - always a good sign. Nurses & carers were clear nothing was too much trouble, day or night. Bells were quickly answered. Personal care, medication, meals, were
all adjusted to my needs which made it feel more like home. My special diet was well managed.
Once they got to know me I didn't need to repeat myself over personal preferences, which can be tiring. Checks were made overnight when doing pad changes but they try to keep the noise down - understanding the importance of sleep! Everyone seemed to enjoy their jobs which makes a difference. I'd hear them chatting to residents, laughing, even having a sing-along.
The activities coordinator spoke about my hobbies & gave me craft projects to pass time.
The only improvement would be name badges, as it's hard to keep track of faces.
I would thoroughly recommend Meadowbrook for respite/long-term care.

My husband, who has MS spent a few weeks respite in Meadowbrook House. The care and kindness of the staff and management to caretaker is impressive. Time is taken to chat to residents, they are all known by name and their personal requirements understood.

I would be very disappointed if I was unable

to make arrangements for my husband to stay there in the future.

This was the first time my mother, suffering from Lewy Body dementia, had been for respite care. I was worried that she wouldn't settle but within a couple of days she was very comfortable and happy in her new surroundings. All the staff I encountered were first-class; friendly, approachable and cheerful.
I called in at random times and always found things as they should be. Meadowbrook is in the process of upgrading and is very much a work in progress at this time but I have no hesitation in recommending the place. I am hoping my mother can spend future respite weeks there. It's a happy place.

Building security is well maintained. Staff are aware of visitors and are friendly and professional. Their interactions with my mother show understanding of her present condition and needs. Her comfort and safety are maintained.
If I have required information or help it is readily available.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.622)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.622) out of 10 for Meadowbrook House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.870 for Meadowbrook House is calculated as follows: ( (80 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 92 Ratings = 4.87
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.752 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Meadowbrook House is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.4 = 0.952
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
