My mother has been a resident since 2017 and the staff have done a fantastic job of care during this period. My mother has a reasonable degree of awareness and is still 'Mum' to myself and my sister, therefore, we know when things are 'right' or not so. The staff are caring and approachable too. My father was also a resident during late 2016-2017. Many thanks to all the staff for keeping Covid out of the care home this testing year just gone.

I have only been in this care home for three weeks so I can only go by the way I have been treated. Having had an amputation in early June, you can imagine how difficult it is with only one leg. Everyone involved with me has been more than kind and understanding. They are always pleasant and the management is always ready to help.

Dad had to go to Cowbridge as we were waiting for a care plan, so his stay was never going to be a permanent one. The home was very inviting and had a good atmosphere. It didn't smell and the staff were incredibly kind and caring. For a home that had a lot of residents with dementia, it felt calm and was quiet and respectful. The only downside was Dad's room was poor, the furniture broken and the windows couldn't be closed. The place could do with some refurbishment, blown windows et.

Cowbridge Residential Care Home is a friendly home where individual needs, passions and moods are catered for. For my Dad this has included walking (at the beach or local lanes), singing with choirs (often in the restaurant), sports (e.g. indoor badmington) and helping others with the many activities (e.g. gardening, dancing, games etc.). All the staff I have had contact with have been kind, helpful and fun. Thank you Cowbridge team for being part of our family.

Would certainly not recommend this home to family or friends. I feel very sad that my uncle was there for as long as he was (two months).

Reply from Bridget Varney, Operations Director at Cowbridge Residential Care Home

It was our great pleasure to have met your relative and a privilege to care for him during his short time at Cowbridge. We would like to extend our very best wishes to him and hope that he is settled and well.

My sister and I have looked at several homes before we decided this was the right one for my mum and dad. The day they entered the home most of the staff were there to greet them and put them at ease and made to feel very welcome. Both were given a wheelchair and taken to the dining room where they were given a drink, their cases were taken to their room which is very clean and acceptable. The care they have received is exceptional as a family we cannot fault them, our parents are looked after and all their needs are met. The staff are very friendly and give my parents respect.

I make every effort to visit my mother twice a week. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. There is always information given both written and verbally/ The home is kept clean and tidy and has recently undergone large-scale decoration. This has greatly improved the occupant's surroundings and is a credit to all involved. My mum is always clean and tidy. Cowbridge is a credit to caring.

We visit our relative on a regular basis. We are greeted in a warm and friendly manner by the staff. Any questions are answered and we are notified of any changes to the care and well being of our relative. I feel I can approach the staff with any concerns I may have which are treated sympathetically and professionally. Our relative is bed bound but she always is presented clean and tidy.

My husband was in respite care for four weeks at Cowbridge Care Home. The staff treated him with great care and respect. I visited my husband on a regular basis. He was always clean and tidy.

I telephoned the home daily, the staff always took time to talk to me. They really are wonderfully dedicated people - much praise and many thanks to them.

I came to Cowbridge for respite for two weeks.
Staff are very nice and helpful. Unfortunately, apart from staff there wasn't anyone else to have conversation with, also the activities person was on holiday.

But I had a nice rest which was the idea and cannot complain about the running of Cowbridge.
