Bramble Down Nursing Home is part of Peninsula Care Homes. It is situated in Denbury, a quiet village located between Totnes and Newton Abbot.

Bramble Down offers the best care to those in the latter stage of life, ensuring all physical, emotional, spiritual, and psychological needs are met and offering around the clock support for residents and their loved ones. Provides care for individuals with more complex healthcare needs and those who require the supervision from a dedicated team of registered nurses and carers.

Bramble Down is registered to accommodate 40 residents in a mix of single and double rooms, although it predominately uses rooms only for single occupancy. The home was purpose-built and has had many upgrades in recent times. It looks out over open farmland and has its own beautiful grounds with lawns, mature trees and flower beds. It has an inner courtyard that has a water fountain and bird tables.

Individuals living at Bramble Down choose their activity programme with the activity co-ordinators. In-house activities include arts and crafts, gardening projects, iPad sessions and games. The home is working towards accreditation with the Eden Alternative – a philosophy to ensure individuals never experience boredom, helplessness or loneliness.

So far the experience for my mother under very tough circumstances has been excellent and amazing. Everyone has been so caring and thoughtful and attentive to our needs as relatives but most importantly to my mother's needs.

All I can say about this home is that it is that the home is first class. Staff are very, very caring. The food is excellent. The home cleanliness is first class, we get classes in cooking.
Staff give you all the help you need in washing and bathing and meal times. The entire home is first class.

My father received exceptional care at Bramble Down during the last 8 months of his life, for which our family will always be incredibly grateful. All the staff cared for him with the utmost kindness, respect and dignity. They also took great care to support my mother during this very difficult time
and made our whole family feel welcome and supported during our visits. We could not have asked for more.

The friendliness of this establishment was shown within minutes of our meeting and being shown around by a staff nurse. Everyone smiled whom we encountered as my family walked around. Every care and consideration was given to my husband to help him settle in. The ongoing care is noticeable. This applies
to all levels of staff. I have never come across a nursing home or residential home like it. Bramble Down Nursing Home is exceptional!

I have visited my wife at Bramble Down six afternoons a week for over five years. The home is well-equipped plus an exceptionally high number of staff; staff training sessions are a regular occurrence. My wife’s care benefits from the flexibility and friendship among the staff who are observant, caring,
compassionate, attentive and affectionate towards her. This ethos spreads throughout the Home including the domestic, kitchen and maintenance staff.


They don’t have a cook at Bramble Down they have a “Chef”. The food is excellent both in quality and variety; a criticism might be that unless you say, the portions can be too large. One of the few pleasures left to my wife is her cake in the afternoon.


The everyday Activities are both innovative and varied thanks to the unflagging exuberance and ingenuity of the dedicated Activities Co-ordinator. My wife also enjoys the varied entertainers that visit the Home each week.


I know that when I go home at night my wife is in safe caring hands.

My mother requires the input of experienced nurses and carers to manage her condition. The staff at Bramble Down Nursing Home are able to provide her with excellent care and in my opinion, have prevented hospital admissions. She is treated with thoughtfulness and dignity. The food is good and staff
ensure mum is in a comfortable position to eat it. The home is kept to a high standard of cleanliness. Mum is encouraged gently to help herself as much as possible and join in with activities of she wishes. We are very happy with this nursing home.

My father has just become a resident of Bramble Down Nursing Home and early impressions are very good. The staff appear helpful and friendly and are keen to promote a homely atmosphere. Even the smallest detail has been considered to make living at the home as comfortable and relaxing as possible. The

My in-laws have been in Bramble Down for 4 years until their deaths in 2016. The care has been exemplary without, which my mother would have died 4years ago. Each of my in-laws was treated with respect, dignity and love (in the end) treated as individuals despite being a couple, was important as their
needs were very different, so the level of care was appropriate.
The staff all cared to ensure their stay was as enjoyable and comfortable as well as looking after us on our visits.
We felt part of a family and actually miss coming to the home and interacting with the staff.

From the moment I walked through the door, I knew this was the right home. It felt warm and welcoming and smelled clean. The nurse who showed us around was very experienced and inspired great confidence. I witnessed her dealing with a slightly difficult resident and the resident was treated with compassion
and respect with no loss of dignity.
I researched many homes before choosing this one and have been very impressed. Yes, it is expensive, but the level and quality of care makes it good value for money.

A very good care home. Lovely food and nice, caring and happy atmosphere. Beautiful garden to sit in in the summertime. Christmas time as made more enjoyable for everyone with lots of pre-Christmas activities. Well done to all.

My wife has now been at Bramble Down Nursing Home for 2 and a half years and having settled in has been very happy under the circumstances and regards this as her home. Being able to visit her at most times has helped me and her, cope with the situation - the standard of activities and entertainment
has been excellent and varied - I work in the voluntary sector and have recommended Bramble Down Nursing Home on many occasions - keep up the good work.

Jo started at Bramble Down in May 2025, having been our Registered Manager at Cornerways in 2021. Before joining Peninsula Care Homes, Jo brings 22 years of experience within the care sector. Her passion for care began at the age of 13 whilst working as a kitchen assistant in her local care home – she says that she knew then that this was the career path she wished to follow.
