Resident was naturally apprehensive when they moved in ten months ago. As a very regular visitor, I have seen change over time and the resident became relaxed and considers this placement to be their home. The resident and myself have high regard for the staff and management - nothing is too much trouble
for either residents or visitors.

My mother in law moved into The Seaton earlier this year, whilst in the throws of the Covid-19 pandemic, she moved in without us being able to look around beforehand.
She seems very settled and loves getting involved with all the activities put on for the residents.
I don’t think any of her family
have had any concerns whilst she has been there.
Staff are always warm and friendly and we know she is getting the best of care.

The staff and nursing staff at The Seaton are excellent and could not be more helpful to both residents and their relatives, at what can be very distressing at times. As I live out of the area and the office staff are always happy to answer the phone and update me with my father's condition. The nursing
staff kept me informed and were supportive and sympathetic

My wife is bed-bound and has been in The Seaton nursing home, so far, for over 1 and a half years.
The true measure, as far as relatives and residents are concerned, are the care staff. At The Seaton, they are marvellous.
It is so reassuring, as a husband, to know that when I leave after my daily
visit, that my wife is left in the capable hands of such a friendly and caring staff.

My Dad was treated with dignity and respect by each and every member of staff at The Seaton. I witnessed this with my own eyes and he often told me how great the staff are. They offer exactly the right combination of kindness, compassion, honesty and professionalism. I feel extremely fortunate that
my Dad was able to live out his last surrounded by people who genuinely care about and clearly take immense pride in what they do – an often very difficult and emotionally challenging job. The food is great, it is nutritious and home prepared, and residents are offered a variety of options daily. The activities on offer to keep people active and happy are fabulous and staff encourage everyone to get involved. I cannot sing The Seaton’s praises highly enough; a truly wonderful experience.

My Aunt has been a resident for the past 14 months before she passed away a couple of weeks ago. During this time I have been impressed by the professionalism of the nursing and local management staff as well as by the compassion and patience of all carers. They all treated my aunt with dignity and
respect and local management kept us informed of any events. My aunt was encouraged to participate in activities both inside and outside the home. We were made to feel part of The Seaton family.

During my husband's palliative care in the nursing home, my family and I cannot praise enough the professional and compassionate way care was given not just to him, but also us his family. Even during the final hours of his life, the team were amazing, offering us privacy and support throughout.

My father was a resident at The Seaton from April 2012 until his death in November 2016. On our numerous visits during that time, we have had very positive experience with both day to day staff and management. The carers/nurses have compassion knowledge and skills to make the residents stay as comfortable
and stress-free as possible while the management shows vision and understanding to the needs of people coming to the end of their lives. Overall a first class establishment with perhaps the only shortcoming being a shortage of staff at times.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.649)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.649) out of 10 for The Seaton is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.949 for The Seaton is calculated as follows: ( (75 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 79 Ratings = 4.949
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Seaton is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
