The care that my Dad receives is excellent. Every member of staff; nurses, carers, cleaners, chefs etc.. all go out of their way to help and ensure that dad has all of his needs taken into account. He really benefits form the range of activities that are organised both inside the home and outings to
interesting places in the area. Dad looks forward to these in particular. He doesn't have a great appetite but the high standard of all the meals means he has a great diet. They also will adapt meals to Dad's preferences.

My mum had to move into this care home when my dad passed away as, at the time, we were not in a position to care for her ourselves as she has multiple sclerosis (MS). Mum was in The Seaton for 8 months and we cannot fault the care, genuine respect and kindness given to her and other residents during
her stay. It has a very relaxed and homely feel to it with lots of activities for residents to participate in. As a daughter visiting my mum, all the staff were so friendly to me and I felt like part of the family too. All the staff were sensitive in accommodating Mum's needs and abilities and she thoroughly enjoyed herself while staying there. You only had to see the smile on her face and the constant credit she gave to the carers. Mum is now accommodated for by ourselves but she and we cannot praise the hospitality and care that was given to her enough. All the staff are a true credit to this home.

Viewed the Home for a friend - I met the manager first, she was very professional and friendly and answered many questions. I left feeling happy that my friend would be well cared for and looked after if she decided to go there. All staff I saw that day, were friendly and smiling. Residents looked happy.
It was clean and homely. The social media page gives a great feel for all they do there, lots of fun.
On the day she moved there, all went to plan and a great idea to bring her over so she could have lunch with others. It was lively with a professional singer as she went into the lounge area, a lovely atmosphere. There is also another lounge more peaceful and a lovely meeting area with a coffee machine and a beautiful fish tank. The staff were always polite and friendly. The first few days were tricky for my friend to settle in, but when she was used to it, she really enjoyed her time there and even ended up on the front page of the newsletter with their resident tortoise Nugg.

Mum has been at The Seaton Nursing Home for over 6 years, during which her health has deteriorated, especially with the diagnosis of vascular dementia. The Seaton has dealt with these changes expertly and at all times the staff are professional, friendly, attentive and caring.
Sadly, Mum now has no
mobility or speech. Yet even now she is always well dressed every time we visit.
It is clearly a very well-run place and a very welcoming one too. Staff are quick to offer visitors a cuppa, which is welcome, and have often offered lunch to my elderly father who visits – this goes beyond what one might expect.
The staff are always very encouraging of my requests to take Mum out (by car in the early years and latterly by wheelchair) to town, which is nearby, and to the seafront. In addition, staff take her out themselves from time to time.
Choosing a home is a daunting and worrying thing; we made the right choice and have no hesitation in highly recommending this nursing home to others.

The Seaton is a well-run home with a relaxed atmosphere with the main focus on making the resident's home their 'own'. They have wide and varied activities which dad loved and would often call up when a band was playing so I could listen too. When dad was end of life, The Seaton Home were supportive
to all of us, listened to our questions, and researched the answers before responding to us. This gave me confidence in what I was being told and trust. Dad loved his time at the Seaton, he had 2 happy years it was lovely to see him joking and laughing with the staff and their genuine affection towards him which made me feel pleased that he was happy and relaxed. A big thank you.

After suffering from a significant stroke 2 years ago, my Mum was left needing an extremely high level of care, having little movement, speech or cognitive ability. This meant that we were unable to look after her at home and had to quickly find a suitable nursing home for her to move into. We were
given the choice of two and had to make a decision within a couple of hours! We chose The Seaton Nursing Home - Oh how lucky we were, we honestly couldn't have picked or wished for a better or more caring team. They were absolutely excellent in every way, including Mum in activities where possible and spending time with her giving her many manicures and doing her hair. She always looked so clean and well presented and the same can be said for her room which had a lovely outlook so she could watch the birds feeding. We very sadly lost Mum last month, due to old age, but the care, understanding, empathy and dignity shown by all the staff at the home was absolutely impeccable.

Thank you so much to all the staff at The Seaton for the lovely, kind and compassionate care of my mother-in-law during her last days. Also for the great kindness and understanding shown to my wife and other family members when visiting. The simple requirement of a negative covid test for any visitors
made a difficult situation much easier. This was a great relief after the pedantic rules applied in the previous care home and hospital. Thank you so much to The Seaton for taking her in and caring for her so well. We knew you are the best place as you cared so well for her twin sister just a few months earlier. Highly recommended.

A big thank you to everyone at the home for the care and kindness provided to my cousin who was in the home from 28th February to 10th April 2022. My cousin needed full-time nursing care and it was a relief when this home was offered to us. We all knew that our cousin was well looked after 24-hours
a day, so the pressure was taken off the family and many friends. Highly recommended.

Overall, standards are high. I have felt genuine love, warmth and care from all the staff towards my Mum and towards me and my son. This is incredibly reassuring when care hands over to others. The end of life care was so well handled, it felt authentic and individual. I know Mum felt loved by the staff.
The Seaton now continues to care for my Mum's sister who is just about coping thanks to the care received. Thank you, I will never forget you.

Thank you all for looking after my Mum so well - the care and kindness of everyone at the Seaton is heartwarming and precious. After you cared for my Aunty (Mum’s twin) until she passed in October 2021, I was desperate to get Mum in with you at her time of need. I can’t thank you enough for helping
to make that happen. It was so precious for Mum to be able to see all of her loved ones and not have to choose which of her three octogenarian brothers were to be allowed in. After staying at a couple of places where it seemed that the rules were more important than the people, it was a big relief to have your sensible and caring simple rules. Thank you to all the staff for making Mum’s visitors so welcome too and especially for the care and kindness shown to me. It was such a blessing to be able to spend lots of quality time with both Mum and Aunty and especially to be able to be with them as they left for the next stop on life’s journey. Highly recommended and so very much appreciated.

Cannot fault the care given to my mother. I was made very welcome on my visits. My mum was always happy and looked after very well. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff would always help and listen. The manager and her team were always on the end of the phone, if I needed them. This is an excellent
nursing home and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.

The staff are always friendly and kind. Relaxed atmosphere and feels very homely. Nurses are very helpful each time. Manager has a lovely manner and knows about the residents. Thank you to everybody at The Seaton for the care that Dad received during the last few months of his life. Everybody was so kind and caring towards Dad and us visiting. I can't speak highly enough of the quality of care that he received. Thanks also, for the kindness you showed towards us in Dad's
final stages of his life. Everybody treated him with dignity and respect as well as having a good laugh with him which is how he always wanted to be treated, even though he was so poorly. He always spoke so highly of you all and loved the food. Your upbeat but caring attitude by all always made it easy for his grandchildren to visit and they were never afraid to come to The Seaton which is high praise to you all.

Thank you to all the staff at the Seaton for the care and kindness they gave to my twin sister during the last two months of her life. Thanks also for looking after me and my daughter when we came to visit. Someone always helped me with the lifts as I can't manage stairs and the cup of tea and biscuits
were always gratefully received! It has been a comfort to know that she was so well-liked and cared for, even though she was not there for long.

As my wife has only been a resident at The Seaton since July, my visits have been during covid restrictions and therefore, restricted. My wife has severe rheumatism, is living with a broken hip and suffering from advanced dementia and dreaded being in care. Despite being hardly able to communicate,
she has a rapport with all the staff and has been able to tell me the food is good and she is happy and obviously well cared for, the staff being very kind, caring and helpful.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.649)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.649) out of 10 for The Seaton is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.949 for The Seaton is calculated as follows: ( (75 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 79 Ratings = 4.949
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Seaton is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
