Palm Court Nursing Home

We had to move Mum so she could be nearer to family. Naturally, we were concerned, but we needn't have worried. Mum has settled well, thanks to the team that now look after her. It's now a joy to visit. It's so important to us to keep the family ties going, for as long as possible, as Mum's dementia is progressing. Thank you for giving us such a good welcome - it means a lot.

Palm Court staff are incredible; the care workers both day and night, cooks, kitchen staff, laundry lasses (the sock lady), nurses (one who never failed to raise the biggest grin), the 'fix everything' man, the activity angels, the office grafters, the cleaners and the local manager. You all worked so hard to ensure dads care was the best you could provide and I am immeasurably grateful. Thank you.

My husband was admitted from hospital in January 2024 suffering from Parkinsons. My family and I have visited daily and I can honestly say the vast majority of staff including the handyman, laundry workers, cleaners, cooks and kitchen assistants, carers and senior carers, part-time activity coordinator, nurses and internal management have shown nothing but kindness and care to both him and us. They do all they can within the constraints of the building to give residents a good home. I hope they all realise their worth and that just a smile can mean so much to each person on the receiving end. Thank you from all of us.

Alzheimer's is such a cruel disease, but Palm Court allowed Mum to retain her dignity and I will be forever grateful to all of the staff who cared for her.

My dad came to Palm Court in December. I didn't know what to expect but Palm Court are amazing. Every member of staff is so warm and friendly. Dad's so happy here. Everyone genuinely cares. They are all so professional and keep me up to date. Everywhere is spotlessly clean. Dad loves the food and the variety. The activities programme over Christmas was great and so inclusive. I can't fault Palm Court in any way.

My wife has dementia. The staff have really helped her to settle in. I am satisfied my wife is being very well cared for. Her quality of life has improved greatly compared with what she experienced at home, and in this respect, the many activities have helped considerably. I am more than satisfied with the care she is given.

I would like to thank all the staff at Palm Court and especially Grace the nurse for the wonderful care my Dad received up to his passing last week. From the moment my Dad arrived he was shown genuine warmth, patience and compassion. The home itself was always very clean and the meals were excellent. Communication regarding my Dads health was always exceptional right up until the end. I always felt informed and reassured about how my Dad was doing. Thank you again for the positive and caring environment as it gave me real peace of mind.

From the first meeting with the assistance manager, the service and attendance to service by the assistant manager has been outstanding. We had to fight several issues with NHS and the support from Palm Court was fantastic. Not only for my wife's well-being but also they were very conscious of my needs at this stressful time. Their staff go 110% on all issues, and I have never doubted their attention to detail and well-being of my wife's needs. They all do a fantastic job, sometimes beyond duties.

The staff here are absolutely fantastic. They are so warm, kind, welcoming and caring. They are doing a wonderful job of looking after our mum. This helps put our minds at rest during this very difficult time. I am very grateful for the staff here. They routinely check on my mum, they check if she needs anything. The location is perfect, couldn't get any better, I don't drive, so I can easily get the nearby train, meaning I can visit my mum often, as well as other friends and family. I feel that it is very safe and secure here. They provide good food and always accommodate my mum's preferences. The care home overall is cleaned to a good standard, however I feel there could be more attention to detail in the cleaning of the rooms, particularly the floors, surfaces and places that are often touched like handles/doors etc.

It has been a blessing in disguise to be here. Every member of staff have been brilliant. From the moment we arrived everyone was very welcoming. Not sure who does the personal training but well done. Example: When I was very stressed one day the management team very professional calm and very helpful and knowledgeable over all even though they probably have to deal with so many other problems. Only criticism is apart from empty bins every day perhaps if the floor was sweeped and cleaned (mopped) table sanitised every other day.

I would wish to express my appreciation for the amazing way Palm Court has cared for my mother.

The staff were so kind and showed a real empathy with my mum, always going the extra mile to make her life enjoyable and comfortable especially during her last days.

The care home has been very well run. Staff are engaging and helpful. Kitchen and meals are very well prepared. Great for cleanliness and comfortable for the residents.

Mum enjoys her days out with the carers whom take her off to town for coffees and ice creams! Also loves looking around the shops.

The staff are beyond praise, some of them I'm sure are absolute saints here on earth.

Our Mum spent the final 14 months of her battle with Dementia at Palm Court Nursing Home having been asked to leave a nursing home in Newton Abbot who were unable to offer her a reasonable level of care due to her condition. Despite some initial trepidation having read the previous reviews, we have nothing but praise for Palm Court - the staff cared for Mum fantastically as she declined, showing empathy, care and compassion throughout, which is what we value. Nothing was too much trouble, and we always felt assured Mum was being well looked after. The app on our phones also kept us up to date with Mum's day and her activities. The facilities although not plush are totally functional and suitable for the nature of the residents. Throughout Mum's stay we were able to make regular visits, despite the Covid restrictions, and were always very welcome. We would like to thank Palm Court for all their care and from our experience would recommend it.

We were delighted to be given a chance to visit during the lockdown and were given Covid tests at the start of each visit. Everywhere felt Covid-secure and the staff were all good at following the rules in place and explaining it to us. My brother appeared very comfortable and said that he liked it at Palm Court. He is relaxed and well looked after. Staff were friendly and make the effort to engage with him by singing and dancing to his music. Nice atmosphere.

My husband was a resident of Palm Court for the last month of his life. He had lived with Alzheimer's disease for several years prior to moving into Palm Court. During his stay, all staff were wonderful without exception. They were all kind and caring. I could not have wished for better care. The staff were also a great support to myself and my family.

For the three and a half years my husband's care and needs were met. Any issues I had were dealt with promptly. They were very kind and considerate to me, nothing was too much trouble. The food was very good, and food allergies were taken care of, and also whatever the residents wanted. There was no hesitation from the nursing staff to inform the doctor if my husband was poorly; he never suffered in any way.
