My father joined this excellent care home after several strokes, increasing mobility issues and being unable to cope at home. During his nine years here, he was treated as an individual, consistently given personal care and considerate attention and included (within reason) in the entertainment, even
when unable to be moved from his bed. During this time, I have never heard a cross word from the staff, their patience, respect and caring manner are always present.
As a family, we were always welcomed and offered a cuppa and updates and a room for Dad's birthday party! My mother used to stay for much of the day whilst she was alive, transferring from the hospital for the last few weeks of her life to be cared for and also near to dad. The home was a haven.

My wife became a resident in the care home in March 2019, suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease. The environment was a high priority in terms of the rooms and facilities, when reviewing homes, although important, I quickly realised the standard of care was far more important and outweighed my original
thoughts.
Especially over the last three years or so, with the change of management, the standard of care was outstanding. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble, and my wife was treated with respect and dignity at all times. This was most relevant when she sadly passed away in June 2023 - the care and respect shown to my wife and the immediate family at that time helped to ease a very emotional and upsetting day.
The people working in this care home will always be remembered for their help and support, not only to my wife but all my family as well. They have an extremely difficult job to do which they embrace with good humour and a smile. A heartbreaking time made easier with their help.

My father was at Glastonbury Care Home from November 2014 until August 2023 when he passed away. First of all, he joined in with the activities, he enjoyed the singing and tried his best to play games with balloons and balls and I think he was happy to be there. Over time he became more unresponsive
to family and friends due to vascular dementia, but the carers always managed to get some response from him when we couldn't. They made great efforts to involve him with music and story CDs and talked to him, although not always getting any response. Overall, I think the care he received was good and I appreciate all that the staff did for him.

My father has been a resident at Glastonbury Care Home from December 2022. The rehabilitation team where he was placed for the first five weeks after his hospital stay were excellent and along with the management team fully assessed Dad's needs. They also reached out to external agencies to obtain further
diagnosis.
Dad clearly enjoys being at Glastonbury Care Home. His carers are compassionate, happy, and bring daily joy to Dad's life. They clearly enjoy what they do. Daily activities help Dad remain socialised with other residents. The food is amazing, with a changing, interesting menu. The team's communication is excellent and greatly appreciated as I live a distance away. I am kept informed with every aspect of Dad's care, there is a family meeting regularly for members to raise issues and a monthly newsletter summarising all the activities and events. You can reach out by phone, email, and visit personally any time. The main thing is Dad is well-cared for and happy because of the great team at Glastonbury Care Home.

My 91-year-old mother was transferred here after two weeks in the hospital with pneumonia. She has struggled at home for some time, even with carers visiting 3 times daily and realised she could not return to the same situation. She was referred for reablement and was initially quite anxious but the
staff could not have been friendlier or more reassuring. She has been looked after with huge kindness and consideration for her needs.
I have visited frequently and been so impressed with the staff who seem to deal with every situation calmly and courteously. Christmas was wonderful, carol singing, panto costumes and lots of fun!
The home is warm and clean, the food is good with a choice to be made on the day. The hairdresser restored her bedraggled locks and morale and she even had a manicure and head massage from very kind volunteers.
Mum is moving to a care home near me and her friends so it will be easier to visit but I cannot thank you enough for helping her make the transition.

My husband was referred here for rehab after a spinal tumour was removed, he was fit enough for ongoing physio but not fit enough to come home. I was very frightened about him being sent to a care home and had visions of him sitting in a chair all day with the television running on a wall. Nothing could
have been further from the truth, I was completely wrong. He had the most wonderful care and the physiotherapy he received was first-class. The therapy he received was definitely the main incentive for his continued recovery. The rest of the staff were considerate of his profound deafness and cared for him in every way possible.

After several weeks in between Yeovil and Taunton hospitals, we finally managed to secure a place at Glastonbury Care Home for my dad on 1st January. The home immediately has a warm and friendly atmosphere and that continued throughout dads stay. The managers, nurses and all the staff are helpful and
caring and particularly compassionate in my father's last days where he was treated with dignity and kindness. I only wish he could have spent more time here, but I do know that the time he did have he made the most of it and was happy and comfortable.

Edwin has the experience of working as a carer, then a registered nurse and deputy manager for the care home and having a humble beginning as a care worker in the care home sector. Edwin implements the best strategies at Glastonbury Care Home to continue to make it an outstanding place to live and work by focusing on well-being and delivering the best person-centred care for our residents.
