Overall Experience

Mum moved into Ashgrove recently and with all the love and care given by the staff she has settled in well. She is kept busy participating in activities and loves the regular trips out. She has fallen in love with the companion robotic cat the home gave her and this helps her to remain calm and relaxed having memory problems. I live a long way away so this reassures me as my visits are not as regular as I wish. In addition to this the staff provided her with an amazing birthday party for her and a beautiful cake.

We had to make a decision about where Mum was going to go following a fall. Not knowing anything about nursing homes, but aware that they are not all the same, we visited the best rated ones in the area and asked for personal experience from residents, and their friends and family. Ashgrove consistently received warm reviews, with consistent reference to the kind staff and genuine care they provide. We were still nervous but I'm very pleased that we had no reason to be apprehensive. Mum was looked after very very well - all the time not just when we were able to be present. We are glad we made the right decision and grateful that she was cared for so well in her time at Ashgrove.

My wife has been in Ashgrove from early December 2025, after 4 months of hospitalisation following a massive stroke and life-saving operation at the hospital. We feel so privileged to have found Ashgrove, where her ongoing care has been second to none. She is very disabled and disoriented with many health issues; yet the care, support and concern she has been shown is truly incredible. As visitors, we have the same support.
We feel she is completely safe and protected, and management, nurses, and care workers give her and us a very positive experience, even when she is difficult and angry.

This is such a difficult time for family and friends, yet to know she will be so well cared for now and in the future is so reassuring.

The Care home is excellent. the staff are so kind and caring to the residents. There are activities organised for the residents everyday, they also take the residents out on shopping trips, garden centers, and the seaside.
There are staff who arrange massages each week and the ladies have there nails and hair done.

The food is all freshly made and there is always a good variety on offer. Nothing is too much trouble

All staff have contributed in a caring and positive way to support our daughters complex needs. We as a family have been overwhelmed by the kindness and professionalism shown to our daughter and ourselves. They have achieved, what we thought was the impossible resulting in us seeing a more upbeat positive outlook with a happy and contented daughter.

My Mum has been a resident at Ashgrove for the last eighteen months and the care she receives is amazing. The nurses and carers are so kind, caring and patient and we know Mum is safe and very well looked after. The activities team do a fantastic job as well, organising a variety of daily activities and trips out which Mum really enjoys. When visiting we are made to feel so welcome and nothing is too much trouble. As a family we feel so fortunate to have chosen Ashgrove for Mum's care.

My mum went into ashgrove with end of life care and she was treated like a queen. I mean I could not fault the staff as they went above and beyond for her. Even before my mum passed she would tell me she felt like she was in a luxury hotel. So i know she was loving it as well. And the staff made us relatives feel very welcome along with tea and coffee when we visited.

It has been a privilege to meet the staff and see all the hard work that is involved in caring for the residents. They have been attentive, kind, compassionate and patient. They are without doubt a credit to the care home. They work hard yet remain kind and empathetic and genuinely care fro their residents, as if their own. I will & am missing visiting my friends mum who sadly passed away and I miss not seeing the lovely staff as well. I am grateful for the times I had with all and sad for our loss.

My mum has been a resident at Ashgrove House since May 2023. We couldn't ask for a better care home. I feel my mum is safe, cared for and looked after. The food is excellent and there is entertainment every day and lots of trips. There are lots of staff and they are all caring and very efficient. A happy wonderful place.

My mum had a serious stroke in May and went to Ashgrove House after a month in the hospital and palliative care. We were immediately struck by the welcoming atmosphere and the approachability of the staff. My mum had been living at home with support and never thought she would need a nursing home, however, the kindness and attention to all her needs helped her make the adjustment and relax into her new life. The last months of her life were peaceful and comfortable.

Ashgrove House is the perfect place for Mum since she moved in, in July. We can only say that Mum has been thriving since moving in. There is a real hub of activity every day with quiet areas to go to if needed. The staff are really caring and know Mum and her little ways. Mum was always a very sociable person and loves talking but was struggling to take care of herself, her world was gradually becoming smaller and now it has opened up again. We have used the van to bring Mum home on Christmas Day. She loves the trips out. Food is plenty! Ashgrove House is open to suggestions. They make us feel very welcome. Thank you so much!

My mother has been at Ashgrove House for 20 months and during that time she has been treated with care and respect. Over Christmas, I was able to have meals with Mum and on Christmas Day Father Christmas arrived with presents for all the residents. The love and care taken are exceptional and the entertainment team is innovative, providing a wide range of experiences for residents. Having visited a number of nursing homes in the area I am so pleased that we chose Ashgrove.

My lovely sister went into Ashgrove to have palliative care on 14th December 2022. The care that was given and the compassion shown to her and our family was above and beyond. Just taking the time to go into her room for a chat meant a lot to her, sadly she passed away on the 22nd December 2022 just over a week in their care, and I saw how wonderful they were. Be so proud of yourselves, it will never be forgotten. Love to you all from her sister and family.

Overall I am very satisfied with Ashgrove. Occasionally they have forgotten to communicate information to me - Mum had covid but I did not know (Nov 2020). They do not send regular updates about whether the home is open or closed due to covid or what the 'new rules' are.

A welcoming and reassuring move under difficult circumstances whilst in lockdown due to covid-19. At all times I was reassured despite not being able to visit. I am made to feel that the care of my father is their primary concern. I am kept informed and able to speak to them any time I wish to. My father's care is first class and carried out very caringly and with the utmost dignity. 'This is his home' is a wonderful mantra - thank you.
