The staff are good when you ask for something, their helpful. The office staff are very friendly, and you can go to them with any problem. The manager is the very best, and there should be more people like her.

Had a great experience here, the managers are superb and very hardworking and dedicated. Excellent team who provide high standards of care and service. The manager is really nice and has really improved the home and made the service users feel safe and provided excellent service in meeting the needs
of the service users. The home is so nice and friendly, service users are made to feel comfortable in their environment with loads of activities and things to do. Excellent service and would highly recommend it. Amberley has provided so much care and perfection to service users taking into account every detail.

I rely solely on updates from the home as I can’t visit due to COVID. I’m very grateful for the information given to me and it makes me feel the home care about the residents and the families. Thank you to everyone at the home and BUPA.

The contact I have had with the new manager has been fantastic since she started. Very open and never makes me feel like I am wasting her time. Activities look fun and it is lovely to see on Facebook. All the residents look happy and included.

The team at Amberley Court have been caring for my mother who is 90-years-old and struggling with dementia for over a year now. It's been really difficult with the pandemic not being able to see my mom. Every time I visit to take my mother some treats, the nurses always make sure the bag and contents
are sanitised before they take to her room. They always help my mother to the window, so I can speak with her, and they really do everything to keep her hopes up that soon I will be able to come inside, just like before, and give her a cuddle. I'm always kept informed about even to smallest issues which have affected my mom, and when she's struggling, they get her on Facetime and give me a call, so I can cheer her up. The whole team are really caring and kind to my mom, and I'm just so happy she is at Amberley Court.
Thanks to the team, hope to see you all again very soon.

My mother moved here from another care home. The difference was noticeable from the moment I walked in. Everyone was friendly and smiled which was not very evident in the previous home. My mom was 91 years old when she arrived here and passed away two days ago. I can not express mine and my brothers
thanks enough, especially during the last three weeks when we were allowed to visit. The kindness and understanding from everyone has been exemplary. Thank you.

Amberley Court was my home for 4 years between leaving hospital after 10-month-stay and moving to my own home at the end of January this year. (2019) During my residency at Amberley Court, I made a lot of friends amongst the residents and staff many of whom I remain friends with. Although I was initially
very unwell when I moved to Amberley Court, my physical and mental health improved drastically during my stay, to such an extent that I am now back living happily in my own home. Amberley Court isn't perfect and being institutionalised is never ideal, but my time there definitely helped me to recover at my own pace and gave me the confidence to return to living on my own again.

I recently visited a close friend who was stopping in Amberley Court, I was absolutely overwhelmed at how professional the staff were, how clean the home was and what good quality service of food there was. My friend was only there for a short period of time but they are looking forward to going back
to stay there again. I would highly recommend this establishment.

I visited my brother in September. I left being extremely upset at the conditions in which he was living. His room was in a bad state of repair, needed decorating, bed linen was grubby. He didn't look cared for, his electric wheelchair was sent away for repair at least 5 months previously.

After

several phone calls, I did not receive any satisfactory answers from any of the staff members. I eventually got told that a new manager was starting.

I arranged a meeting with the new manager and addressed all my concerns, which she duly made notes of with a promise of rectifying.

I have nothing but praise for the new manager. She has executed all the promises. The room has been decorated, with new furniture and he has his wheelchair back.

The new manager has made a lot of good changes and with the promise of more entertainment for the residents which is in great need.

They have had many managers in the past who have not stayed the distance, so fingers crossed that this one will.

Thank you.

I was a resident at Amberley Court in December. My sister referred me and I don't remember much back then as my lungs were immune to infections and I caught a really bad infection and was sent back to the hospital for 2 months. When I came back to Amberley Court, the staff didn't recognise me, they
thought I was a visitor. I stayed there for 6 months and was discharged on the 17th June 2017. All the staff made me feel welcome in the nursing home. Every morning I would wake up and walk around the home welcoming them with a "good morning". I made loads of friends there with staff and residents and will always recommend Amberley Court to anyone.

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.765)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.765) out of 10 for Amberley Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.681 for Amberley Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (50 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 69 Ratings = 4.681
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.084 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Amberley Court Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 62 registered maximum number of service users is 12.4. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 12.4 = 0.484
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Clinical Deputy Manager Joined: 2020

I was born in Romania in the capital of Transylvania on the 1st of July 1990. I have double nationality: Romanian and Hungarian. Since I was a little girl, I wanted to be a nurse. In 2014 I finished nursing school - I have Bachelor's degree in General Nursing. I came to the UK in 2016 with a contract to work as a surgical nurse. I met my husband who supported me and advised me to try to work in Nursing Homes.

Since 2017, I worked in Nursing Homes, in Surrey, where I built up my confidence and my knowledge. In October 2018 I gave birth to my amazing daughter, and I was off for 6 months. In June 2020 I joined Bupa – worked as an RGN from the beginning until Nov 2020 when my previous GM suggested applying for the CSM role. In April 2022 we moved to Birmingham from Camberley with my family and I transferred to Amberley Court, where I am present and still adapting and learning about the residents and staff. I enjoy working with people and keeping myself active and up to date with new protocols and procedures.

Job Title: Senior Activity Co-ordinator Joined: 2017

I am the Senior Activity Co-ordinator and Engagement Champion at Amberley Court. I enjoy making a difference to the lives of our residents - I build friendships and I like to encourage our residents to try new things.

I studied sociology at university and I worked part-time at a community day centre. I enjoyed the role and when I saw the role for an Activity Co-ordinator at Amberley Court I thought it would be perfect for me whilst I continued studying. I ended up staying as I built good relationships with our residents and the team and they've become my second family.

Working in the care sector is hard but it is so rewarding. Seeing a smile on a resident's face is the best feeling in the world.

I'm currently working towards my NVQ Level 3 Lead Adult Worker - Activity Co-ordinator qualification. I'm the eldest of 5 children and I love to travel. I have a fear of heights but love the adrenaline rush of going on rides at theme parks. I am a huge film fan and enjoy reading and socialising.

I have worked at Amberley Court since 2013, starting as a receptionist. I have progressed to be part of the activities team. I really enjoy interacting with the residents and co-ordinating all our fun and engaging activities. Such as arts and crafts, cooking club, bingo, board games, card games, and organising entertainers. One of my favourite parts of my role is simply having a cuppa with our residents and chatting away, learning all about one another and sharing stories.
