In the main Mams stay here has been excellent save for a few little niggles that have been resolved quickly. Staff are lovely & friendly and deal with difficult situations with fortitude. Management have been very forgiving when I have forgotten to pay Mams fees - thank you!
We looked at many other
care homes before placing Mam here and this was by far the best we saw. Glad she's here!

Mum moved into Ashley Lodge at the beginning of June on a permanent basis. Mum is very well looked after and is very happy there. The staff are all excellent and the manager is always available and very approachable.
The activities are a lovely part of the day and are varied and well run. The level
of care mum receives is excellent and nothing is too much trouble.
Initially I found it very difficult when mum went into the home but mum has settled in very quickly and within a very short space of time thinks of it as home.
Massive thanks to everybody.

The care given to my dad was excellent. From the 1st time we met with the Care Home manager to the end of his stay there. The staff were all extremely helpful and patient with my dad when he wasn't always co-operating fully or on his best behaviour. They also treated him with respect and in a friendly
manner which was much appreciated. It was good to see my dad smile when some of the staff came in to see him. We also noticed how frequently the staff checked in with dad while they were passing his room.

In addition, the staff were always very friendly and helpful to ourselves in such a difficult time for the family. The food, drinks and toiletries provided to us as we stayed with our dad were very much appreciated.

Thank you all for what you did for my dad whilst he was with you.

Mother in law came into Bryony 6 months ago. She was made welcome. Encouraged to join in various activities. Staff are aware of her deep religious faith and do what they can to encourage/support her. We are kept informed of any falls etc. Staff always have time to talk/answer questions. Family are satisfied
that she is in a safe/clean/caring environment and are grateful for care given/received.

My mother is always telling the family how good the food is and how lovely the staff are. She is always clean and well dressed whenever we visit, and enjoys taking part in all the activities. All the staff know her by name, even the catering staff and receptionists. The entire home is well cared for,
and when you walk in, it puts you in mind of a hotel and not a care home. She loves the hair salon!

My dad stayed in read house for two weeks respite in June, he stayed in the new area which was lovely and very well equipped, he said he was in a five star hotel, he said he enjoyed his stay and wouldn't hesitate to return, we couldn't fault anything about his stay, every one was extremely kind and
caring and the food was excellent, management made everything stress free for me as I was very apprehensive about having to leave him, I would like to say a massive thank you to you all, you do an amazing job!

Mum spent close to 3 months at Ashley Lodge following a very difficult situation, and with various health issues. The staff immediately made us feel so welcome, and made sure all of Mum's needs were catered for, with a level of care and efficiency like I've never seen before. Medical and other needs
are seen to extremely quickly and with much care, which was a revelation, and such a relief to us.
Visiting Mum every day, at varying times was never a problem, and despite suffering badly with anxiety, I never felt anything but welcome and at ease. I can't recommend Ashley Lodge highly enough
A massive thanks to the Manager and Deputy Manager who moved mountains to help us through a very difficult time, and also to all of the staff who helped make Mum's stay safe and comfortable.

After my dad passed away in November it became apparent my mum was struggling, as we all were as he was such a central part of her life in particular after 60 years of marriage. However, we realised there was more to this and mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. I live in Switzerland and mum is happy
to visit but wanted to stay in Essex close to friends. We visited a number of residential homes with my mum and she liked Read House from the moment she walked in, as did I. All of the staff are incredibly caring and the Manager always has time to talk. Mum initially came in for respite last month but she told me that she knew she wasn't safe to live on her own and Read House would be somewhere she would be happy to stay. Mum has a lovely room overlooking the beautiful garden and whenever I call she always seems to be busy in various activities or getting her hair done. I just returned from visiting her and she was smiling as I left sitting with new friends.

Since my father moved into Read House, he has been so beautifully looked after. The understanding, compassion and care that they show to my father is outstanding. Dementia is a very cruel illness but every single member of staff that my father interacts with is so patient and always has the time for
him.

The residence is spotless clean at all times and the food provided is wonderful, always catering for my fathers' specific dietary needs. It is a scary thing to decide that your parent needs to be somewhere other than their own home, however Read House had made that transition so much easier for both my father and myself. Their support and guidance to me has also been invaluable.

I would love to name every member of staff as they are all truly wonderful, however there isn't the space. So I will just mention the manager whose one ambition in life is to ensure that Read House feels like a resident's home. She believes it is their sanctuary and it truly is.

Nan was scared about going into a residential care home, but at the grand age of 96 when she entered here, she quickly began to like it. (Nan always liked Ashley Lodge, as another member of her family was here a few years ago and was treated very well before she passed.)The staff are lovely to her,
and she loves it when they chat and interact with her. She has made some nice friends to talk to, but also enjoys it when she has visitors, which she has most days from her Daughter and Son, down to her Grandchildren even her Great Granddaughter, and occasionally her Great Great Grandchildren.
Nan loves the food here, and if there's something she doesn't like, they quickly find her something else to eat.

I come every few weeks to see my mum who has been in the home for over 2 1/2 years, the staff are always friendly, smiling, personable and so caring, could not ask for anything better. My mum is so happy in the home, she is made to feel special all the time and looked after with first class nurses and
management. The senior manager of the home, is far more than just a manager, she is a friend and feels like family every time I come to visit mum. Cannot speak more highly about the care home, staff, environment, food and just everyone being so accommodating and personable.
Thank you for making mum so comfortable and even with her dementia, she is always smiling and that's down to every single person who works at Ashley Lodge and the way the management team work so hard to make it a family environment.
Thanks again for being amazing.
