As soon as she arrived through the door, the general manager and care manager rolled up their sleeves and attended to every aspect of our mother's physical and psychological needs in her new environment. Without exception, all of the staff are conscientious, professional, caring and diligent, delivering care with smiles and good humour.

My mum was a resident from 2022 until she passed in March 2026. She was treated wtih love and respect throughout her stay. Her end of life care was given with compassion and the support we have been given since her passing has been outstanding.

My great aunt recently celebrated her 100th birthday together with family and friends. There were 28 of us in total, so it was quite a large gathering. The staff at Read House helped us organise the event by sectioning off half of the dining area and decorating it beautifully for the occasion. They provided delicious sandwiches - the food is excellent - and made sure everyone was very well looked after throughout the afternoon. We are all extremely grateful that we were able to use the facilities at Read House to celebrate such a special milestone with her.

In general, my great aunt receives very good round-the-clock care. Many of the staff take the time to sit and talk with her, sharing stories and conversations, which means a great deal to her. In recent years, she has understandably struggled at times with reduced mobility and the sadness of losing many close friends and family members. Human connection, kindness and companionship therefore really matter.

Over all care a 3 and a half star.

Daphne was made to feel welcome, valued and respected from the beginning which helped us feel more comfortable. The staff were always available to share our worries with and help if possible. Daphne was helped to live her last few years with safety and dignity. Thank you.

Since my mum has been at Corner Lodge all of the staff have been exceptional. They ensure she receives the medical care she needs, provide excellent food & drink & all round support.

My uncle was in another home for nearly 2 years and spent most of his time in his bed. Was not supported to interact. Since moving to Read House, he has spent very little time in bed and enjoyed his meals in the dining hall with other residents. When I visit, he is interested in conversation and seems brighter in himself. The staff are friendly and management approachable. Everyone there has helped him settle in and start to enjoy life again.

Mum has been at Corner Lodge for 1 year. She is happy & settled. The regular activities offered keep her entertained & physically & mentally active. The staff are excellent & go over & above to ensure residents are happy. Any concerns are dealt with promptly.

My father has only been here 3 weeks and in that time the staff and management have all been helpful with queries, dad seems to enjoy himself and he looks well looked after.

Since my wife has been in the home we have been very happy with the way she is looked after. We have no worries or concerns at all.

My father went into Read House during the last 5 months of his life. We were provided with an excellent pre-admission visit with all information we needed. Whilst there he was shown care and compassion staff got to know his likes and dislikes. Facilities were brilliant and particularly during his last week we also felt cared for and that we were important and part of the Read House family.

I've always found all the staff and management team to be very kind and helpful for Mum and also to us. The home is looked after well and the activities on offer are varied and really good for all residents. I'm at ease with mum staying here as I know she is being cared for and looked after extremely well. Thank you!

A happy, caring home. All staff are brilliant, treating patients with care and respect. It's also great to see the teamwork between the staff. The range, frequency and opportunities to get involved with activities is excellent. As a visitor we are always made to feel very welcome and nothing is ever too much trouble. Overall I am very pleased with the way my mother is cared for.

All in all a lovely care home with exceptional staff.

Staff are very patient focused & treat residents with kindness & care & are respectful of privacy & self respect of the patients well being.

Mum is a lady with advanced dementia, she can be extremely difficult to deal with. The care staff have shown patience and understanding when dealing with her personal care! The management and staff have been so welcoming to not only my mum but also to my brother and myself when visiting.
