Our mother, aged 89, was admitted to Read House following weeks in hospital.
As soon as she arrived through the door, the general manager and care manager rolled up their sleeves and attended to every aspect of our mother's physical and psychological needs in her new environment. Without exception,
all of the staff are conscientious, professional, caring and diligent, delivering care with smiles and good humour.
Reply from The Manager, Home Manager at Read HouseThank you so much for taking the time to share this wonderful feedback. We are delighted to hear that your mother felt supported from the moment she arrived, especially after her time in hospital.

Our managers, and the whole team will be truly encouraged by your kind words. They work hard to provide compassionate, attentive care, and it means a great deal to know this has made a positive difference to your mother's comfort and wellbeing.

We really appreciate your trust in us and your recognition of the team's dedication.

Read House

My great aunt recently celebrated her 100th birthday together with family and friends. There were 28 of us in total, so it was quite a large gathering. The staff at Read House helped us organise the event by sectioning off half of the dining area and decorating it beautifully for the occasion. They
provided delicious sandwiches - the food is excellent - and made sure everyone was very well looked after throughout the afternoon. We are all extremely grateful that we were able to use the facilities at Read House to celebrate such a special milestone with her.

In general, my great aunt receives very good round-the-clock care. Many of the staff take the time to sit and talk with her, sharing stories and conversations, which means a great deal to her. In recent years, she has understandably struggled at times with reduced mobility and the sadness of losing many close friends and family members. Human connection, kindness and companionship therefore really matter.

Reply from Helen Spurgeon, Home Manager at Read HouseThank you so much for taking the time to share such a heartfelt review of your great aunt's experience at our home. It means a great deal to our whole team to know that her 100th birthday celebration was such a special and memorable occasion for your family. We were delighted to help you host the gathering, and we're glad the decorations, food and service helped make the day feel truly worthy of such an incredible milestone.
We are especially grateful for your kind words about the care she receives day to day. Our staff take great pride in offering not only practical support but also genuine companionship, conversation and human connection - the things that matter most, particularly when mobility changes and loved ones are no longer close by. Knowing that this brings comfort to your great aunt, and to your family, is deeply appreciated.
Thank you again for your thoughtful feedback and for trusting us with her care.

My mum was a resident at this care home.
Some of the staff are likeable some not.
Cos some have sticky fingers.
When my mum passed some of her belongings what missing. When my sister and I went to get some of her belongings they was all put into a cupboard in black bags and we had to walk pass the
room she occupied when alive and it was already occupied it was up setting to see that and to see all her stuff in a cupboard that's when we noticed things was missing.
It was not until I put in a bad review I got them back will most of them.
My mums room was not that clean sometimes.
Food I don't know about.
Sometimes when I visited her she wasn't clean.
She smelled.
I had to ask them to give my mum a bath a few times. There is not enough staff for all the residents. Cos twice my mum was attacked by inmates there...
In this review I am telling the truth.
I think the owners should put more money into get more staff for the price they charge.
Over all care a 3 and a half star.

My uncle was in another home for nearly 2 years and spent most of his time in his bed. Was not supported to interact. Since moving to Read House, he has spent very little time in bed and enjoyed his meals in the dining hall with other residents. When I visit, he is interested in conversation and
seems brighter in himself. The staff are friendly and management approachable. Everyone there has helped him settle in and start to enjoy life again.
Reply from Helen Spurgeon, Home Manager at Read HouseThank you so much for taking the time to share this lovely feedback. Were delighted to hear how well your uncle has settled in and that youve noticed such a positive change in him. Supporting residents to stay engaged, comfortable, and connected is incredibly important to us, and it means a great deal to know this has made a difference for him and for your family.

Your kind words about our staff and management are truly appreciated. Were grateful for your trust and are so pleased to see your uncle enjoying life again at Read House.

My father went into Read House during the last 5 months of his life. We were provided with an excellent pre-admission visit with all information we needed. Whilst there he was shown care and compassion staff got to know his likes and dislikes. Facilities were brilliant and particularly during his last
week we also felt cared for and that we were important and part of the Read House family.

We heard very good reviews already from a resident living there and very much wanted to find a place there for my husband who needed really good care/ nursing and we were successful. Lovely care manager who showed me all round - spotlessly clean - airy, overlooking the sea in Finton - a bonus. The care
was exceptional - always friendly/ chatty + professional carers who also looked after the relatives also. Plenty of daily activities for residents - lovely back garden for walking + seafront and the meals were good.
All in all a lovely care home with exceptional staff.
Reply from The Manager, Home Manager at Read HouseThank you so much for sharing your experience. Were delighted to hear that you had already received such positive recommendations from a resident and were able to find a place here for your husband when he needed high-quality care.
Its wonderful to know that our care manager made you feel welcome and that the homes cleanliness, bright atmosphere, and beautiful sea views in Frinton added to your confidence. Were especially pleased that you found the care to be exceptional friendly, chatty, professional, and supportive not only to residents but to their families as well.
Our team works hard to provide meaningful daily activities, maintain our lovely garden spaces, and offer meals that residents enjoy, so your feedback means a great deal.
All in all, were truly grateful for your kind words about our home and our staff.
