Our mother was transferred from hospital to Beech Hill Grange for end of life care. Although she was not aware of very much by that stage, we were very impressed by the level of care taken by the staff to make her final days as comfortable as possible: for example, soft lighting in her room and Classic
playing softly. We were kept updated regularly on her condition and visiting family were all treated sensitively with understanding and compassion, especially just after her death. The family drew comfort from knowing that her final days had been spent in such peaceful and caring surroundings.
Reply from Sonia Nixon, Home Manager at Beech Hill GrangeThank you for taking the time to share such kind and thoughtful feedback. We are deeply sorry for your loss and are honoured to have been able to support your mother and family during her final days. Your words will be shared with the team, who will take great comfort in knowing their care, compassion, and attention to detail helped provide peace and reassurance at such a difficult time.

From the initial phone call to check availability, to my mother being assessed and then moving in, all has been an excellent experience. It was for 8 weeks restbite but should we ever need a home again, this would be our first port of call.

Overall the levels of service have been maintained at a good level, this year. In all principal departments there is compassion and awareness of residents care plans and needs. There used o be a hairdresser/manacurist service, free to all residents which has been removed and replaced with a "hit & miss"
charging system, which doesn't work well and is EXPENSIVE. I have suggested an alternative "opt out" charge scheme which would make profit & do the job, but this has not been acted upon yet & may not be.
Reply from Sonia Nixon, Home Manager at Beech Hill GrangeThank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We are pleased to hear that, overall, the levels of service have been maintained at a good standard this year and that compassion and awareness of residents' care plans and individual needs are evident across all principal departments. We appreciate you highlighting the previous hairdressing and manicure service and your concerns regarding the current charging arrangement. We understand that consistency, value for money, and accessibility are important, and we recognize your frustration with the present "hit and miss" system and associated costs. I also acknowledge that prior to COVID, relatives did contribute to salon services.
Thank you for taking the time to suggest an alternative opt-out charging scheme. We value constructive ideas from residents and relatives, and your proposal has been noted. While not all suggestions can be implemented straight away. Regards, Sonia

The level of care is very good despite recent frequent changes in staff. The new manager (since July 2024) has made an enormous difference regarding transparency and attention to detail. Meetings are regularly held for relatives, to bring us up to date on progress with staff training, upkeep of records
etc, and to discuss any other business bought up by the relatives.
My relative is treated with respect and feels safe and well cared for.
Reply from Sonia Nixon, Home Manager at Beech Hill GrangeThank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback. We are pleased to hear that you feel the level of care remains very good and that your relative feels safe, respected, and well cared for. We acknowledge that there have been recent changes within the staff team, and we appreciate your understanding during this period. It is especially encouraging to hear that you have noticed a positive difference since the new manager joined in July 2024, particularly in relation to transparency and attention to detail.
We value the importance of regular communication with relatives, and we are glad that the meetings have been helpful in keeping you informed about staff training, record keeping, and other matters raised. Your feedback reassures us that these forums are meaningful and worthwhile. Thank you again for your kind comments and continued engagement with the home. Your support is greatly appreciated. I have been at Beech Hill Grange since April 2025, I lived my daughter & then went to hospital. I then came to the home, unable to get out of bed. I was hoisted, then I began to walk with a frame. I had physiotherapy twice & had exercises. These had to be done evening & night. If it wasn't for the carers
then I wouldn't be walking now. They know who they are.
Reply from Sonia Nixon, Home Manager at Beech Hill GrangeThank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are truly delighted to read about the progress you have made since coming to Beech Hill Grange in April 2025. Your journey from requiring full support with a hoist to now walking with a frames a remarkable achievement and a real testament to your determination. We are especially pleased to hear that the physiotherapy support and exercises, alongside the encouragement and dedication of our carers' played such an important role in your recovery.
Our staff will be incredibly proud to know the difference they have made to your independence and wellbeing. Your kind words mean a great deal to the whole team, and we will be sure to share your feedback with them.
Thank you again for your heartfelt comments. We wish you continued strength and progress and remain committed to supporting you every step of the way. Kind regards,

I find the overall services are excellent kind and helpful staff makes it a pleasure to visit. The only concern I have that the lift has been out of order for the last two weeks. The mother-in-law had to go to hospital and had to be carried upstairs in a blanket by the paramedics.
Reply from Sonia Nixon, Home Manager at Beech Hill GrangeThank you for taking the time to share your review,

We are delighted to hear that you find our service excellent and that our kind and helpful staff make your visits a pleasure. Your positive feedback is greatly appreciated and will be shared with the team.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience and distress caused by the lift being out of order during your mother-in-law's hospital admission. Unfortunately, the lift required a specialist engineer and parts, which meant it could not be repaired as quickly as we would have wished. Please be assured that it was fixed at the earliest possible opportunity once the specialist support became available.

We understand how upsetting this situation must have been and apologies sincerely for the impact it had on you and your family. Thank you again for your understanding and for your kind comments about our staff and care. Regards, Sonia

A Heartfelt Thank You to Beech Hill Grange
When my aunt was no longer safe to remain in her home, and following a hospital stay, our family made the decision to move her to Beech Hill Grange. From the very beginning, the staff showed incredible compassion and care. They truly understood her unique
sense of humour and embraced it, helping her feel safe, valued, and genuinely happy.
The care she received was deeply person-centred. It was wonderful to hear her being offered real choices and to see those choices respected. As a family member, I felt involved and listened to, and I appreciated being able to contribute to her care plan so that everyone could know her well.
I want to extend special thanks to a few specific members of staff. You built a beautiful relationship with our family, and nothing was ever too much trouble. Even in her final days, your support meant the world to us.
As a registered manager myself, I can confidently and wholeheartedly recommend Beech Hill Grange.

My mother moved into Beech Hill Grange in January 2025 aged 95. We found the support and care mom received second to none.
The public areas were extensive, friendly and very comfy. Tea and coffee were readily available to residents and visitors alike. Mom would visit the onsite hairdressing saloon
weekly. She enjoyed the sherry before lunch!
When mom passed away the staff handled the situation with compassion, dignity and sensible advise.
We can't recommend Beech Hill Grange highly enough.

My friends moved into the home in October 2020 during Covid. I had researched several homes within West Midlands and Staffordshire with the ability to cater for physical difficulties following my friend's serious fall, but also dementia that my other friend already suffered from.
The initial call with
the home made my mind up, asking about the couples' likes and dislikes, their lifestyle and history. This was in distinct contrast to many homes that seemed to only ask if they wandered at night and were physically or verbally aggressive.
Since they moved in the level of care and personal attention has been excellent, with I feel a genuine desire to care and improve the couples' lives. When my friend passed away in the home last year I saw the tears and outpouring from the staff that had cared for him, and the extra support afforded to my other friend.
I can only say positive things about the home following our experience and feel so fortunate to have found it for my friends. Thank you to all staff.
Reply from Sonia Nixon, Home Manager at Beech Hill GrangeThank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. Your kind and heartfelt words mean a great deal to the entire team here at Beech Hill Grange. We remember your friends very fondly, and it has been a privilege to support them both over the years. Your feedback affirms our commitment to delivering care that is not only safe and professional but also deeply personal and compassionate. It's incredibly meaningful to hear that you felt the difference from the very first phone call - we truly believe that knowing and valuing the whole person is essential to providing the highest quality care. The loss of your friend was felt by many of our team, and we were honored to be there during such a significant time. Your acknowledgement of the support offered to his partner is especially appreciated, as continuity and emotional care are at the heart of what we do. Thank you. Warmest regards.

Beech Hill Grange is an incredible care home. My mom was taken in for palliative care and after a challenging time with hospitals and lack of communication, the staff at Beech Hill were incredible in their care and communication. The whole place is amazing with its facilities as a care home and all
the staff, truly easing and providing comfort for my mom and in turn, our family.
I would like to especially thank a nurse, in particular for all of her kindness to my mom when working with her and to the many family members she took under her wing during the difficult experience, we are and always will be so grateful.
There were two sisters who were also exceptional and always smiling and a special mention to Blue, the cat, who we loved.
When my mom finally passed away, the staff brought us mounds of tea and biscuits and as much time as we wanted to spend with Mom, we will always feel indebted to the staff of Beech Hill for the kindness and dignity they granted to my mom at the end of her life. Thank you.

From day one, on arrival 13/12/2022, they have been marvellous. We arrived very late after a long journey from Edinburgh, immediately, staff were at hand with a wheelchair. They were so compassionate and immediately caring. From day one, my aunt has had the most marvellous 'total care' - I have loved
her being there. The room she has is excellent, it can be furnished with her own items (if she wanted), all her personal care in 100%, emotionally and physically another 100%. As said, it's "home from home", I feel, as a relative, very included. I'm actually happy to think even I would be happy as a resident eventually.
Reply from Sonia Nixon, Home Manager at Beech Hill GrangeIt's wonderful to hear such positive feedback about the care your aunt has received! It sounds like the staff went above and beyond from the moment you arrived, ensuring that both you and your aunt felt supported and comfortable after a long journey. The fact that they immediately provided compassionate care and made you feel included as a relative is truly heartwarming. It's also great to know that the facilities allow for personal touches, like bringing in familiar items to make the space feel like home. Your description of the care being 100%, both emotionally and physically, shows how dedicated the team is to your aunt's well-being. The idea that you would feel comfortable living there yourself someday speaks volumes about the quality of care and environment. Thank you for sharing this lovely review!

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.681 for Beech Hill Grange is calculated as follows: ( (269 Excellents x 5) + (51 Goods x 4) + (15 Satisfactorys x 3) + (7 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 342 Ratings = 4.681
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Beech Hill Grange is based on 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 74 registered maximum number of service users is 14.8, which has been reached with 28 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
