I came to visit my aunt during dinner time. She looked very well for her age. It can be a little difficult at that time as some residents tend to play up a bit. But all in all the staff tend to deal with situations very well. Probably need another member of staff on at meals to help residents who find
it hard to eat and some can be disruptive to other residents at that time. Otherwise very good and plenty of activities.
Reply from Sonia Nixon, Home Manager at Beech Hill GrangeThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're so glad to hear that your aunt is doing well and that you observed how our team manages various situations. We understand that mealtimes can be a bit challenging and we appreciate your suggestion regarding additional staff support during this time. We are always looking for ways to improve the experience for our residents and will certainly take your comments into consideration. It's great to hear that you find our activities plentiful and engaging as well. Your feedback helps us continue to provide the best care possible.

My dear mother has now been a resident of your wonderful care home for just over six years now. And to say that I am so glad that we chose Beech Hill Grange Care Home is an understatement. I have seen many carers, nurses and other staff come and go over the years and I have always been met with that
same high level of care and dedication from these wonderful and professional people. I have always been welcomed by a smile and a chat and made to feel at home and comfortable throughout my many visits to my mum.
What I also love about Beech Hill Grange is the building itself. The interior has that feeling of "home from home" and what I mean by throughout is the structure and decor of all the communal rooms reminds me so much of my mum's home, a style shared by so many from my mum's generation. I'm sure this helped my mum settle in very quickly.
Also, at the back of the care home is a huge patio and a well-kept grassed area amongst the trees and plants that I'm sure my mum loves.
Reply from Sonia Nixon, Home Manager at Beech Hill GrangeThank you so much for your heartfelt feedback. We are delighted to hear that your mother has felt at home with us for over six years and that you have been pleased with the consistent care and dedication of our team. It's wonderful to know that the homely atmosphere and welcoming environment have made a difference for both you and your mother. Your kind words are a great encouragement to us all. Thank you for your continued trust in Beech Hill Grange. Regards, Sonia.

My father-in-law was moved due to cost from another home where he flourished to Beech Hill Grange. As a sufferer of both vascular dementia/Alzheimers, we knew change could lead to agitation. His grandson was called out on 5 consecutive nights even at 2 am to settle his grandad. BHG chose to do a telephone
assessment and knew no facts about him. It was only after asking for a meeting with a temporary manager this was addressed. We never once saw him engaged in any activity or any other resident. After less than 3 months he was given 28 days' notice to leave due to his challenging behaviour. An incident whereby they asked the paramedics to take him to the hospital to check his hand, the hospital found nothing wrong but as that day was the 28th day they refused to take him back. They clearly do not have the skills nor desire to care for people with dementia or Alzheimers. This home would only be fit for purpose if you are frail or catatonic and require no engagement with anybody.
Reply from Sonia Nixon, Manager at Beech Hill GrangeThank you for sharing your feedback. We understand how important it is to find the right care for your loved one, especially with dementia or Alzheimer's. At Beech Hill Grange, we carefully assess each resident's needs and always strive to provide appropriate care. We regret that your father-in-law's stay did not meet your expectations, but please know that our staff worked hard to support him, including involving family members when it was believed to be in his best interest. Regarding the notice to leave, this decision is made only after very careful consideration and with the safety/wellbeing of everyone in mind. We also strive to engage all residents in activities suitable to their needs, and we are sorry if this was not evident during his stay. We take all feedback seriously and are committed to providing the highest standard of care. If you would like to discuss this further, please feel free to contact me directly. Thank you again for your comments.

I am more than satisfied with the care my husband receives at Beech Hill Grange. He has been there for about sixteen months as I am too ill to care for him at home. Most of the time, he is happy and settled but due to his condition, some days he is unhappy but the staff really understand his condition
and help him, talking to him and sometimes even singing with him. I am kept in the loop about his care from the senior staff and always consulted about ongoing care or any changes. Every member of staff is friendly, caring and professional.

I am visiting an elderly gentleman who is in Beech Hill Grange Care Home. As soon as I entered the home, I was made welcome, i.e. management and all staff. My friend (95) is so well looked after and it's down to the care and attention given to him as he wasn't expected to live when he first came to
Beech Hill sixteen weeks ago. Apart from the excellent staff, I love the resident cat, Blie, who also greets me when I visit! 10/10.

I visit a resident at Beech Hill Grange every week. I am always greeted at the door with a smile and made to feel welcome. It is exactly like visiting family. Without exception, I have found all the staff the same, very caring and concerned for the welfare of all in the home. The facilities are superb
and very well maintained. If I had to enter a care home this is the place I would wish to be.

Reception staff at Beech Hill Grange are always warm and welcoming on arrival. All staff members interact with residents and visitors in a caring way. Lounge areas, dining room and Mom's room are always clean and tidy. Lots of entertainment put on and Mom thoroughly enjoys her glass of Sherry and Wine.

Having visited my mother for two years at Beech Hill Grange, I can honestly say that I've been delighted with this loving, caring nursing home. The environment is plush and attractive. When visiting the care of residents is evidently outstanding. Clients are clean, well-nourished (great meals), well-entertained
and dressed in well-coordinated outfits. Any unwanted facial hair is promptly removed. Clients enjoyed free hair-dressing on the saloon with qualified hairdressers - multiple times weekly if they fancy!
Leaders and managers are rigorous and on the ball. Staff genuinely care about their chargers, I feel so glad to have found this gen which offers excellent value for money when compared to similar settings.

My mother has been living at Beech Hill Grange for just over a year and I feel it necessary to place on record just how well she is looked after.
My mother is severely disabled as a result of a major stroke she suffered in March 2018. As a result, she requires total nursing care and is peg fed as she
is unable to swallow. She is superbly looked after by the staff on a day to day basis, the nursing staff follow up any issues or enquiries raised about her needs. This ethos is supported totally by managers in the home. Members of our family can feel relaxed and reassured about the quality of care, help and stimulation she receives and unlike other homes, we have had dealings with we can feel absolute confidence in Beech Hill Grange.
Given our mother's situation, they provide the best we could hope for. Our thanks and gratitude goes to all of the very caring staff.

An extremely pleasant establishment which is very light and modern with a traditional type of construction. The staff are always pleasant and very professional, conducting themselves with complete respect towards residents. The food is varied, as is the choice of activities and interests. As a place
for a cherished loved one in your family, you would struggle to improve on this - reassurance and confidence assured.

My husband was at Beech Hill for 2 and a half years and during that time he was very well cared for.
He had had a stroke and also Parkinson's.
He was never happy there because it was not his nature to be 'confined' and unable to be free in the open countryside.
I visited daily and was made very welcome
and still call in to see the staff occasionally.
A wonderful home!

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.681)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.681) out of 10 for Beech Hill Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.681 for Beech Hill Grange is calculated as follows: ( (269 Excellents x 5) + (51 Goods x 4) + (15 Satisfactorys x 3) + (7 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 342 Ratings = 4.681
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Beech Hill Grange is based on 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 74 registered maximum number of service users is 14.8, which has been reached with 28 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
