After quite a difficult year, my family and I came to the decision that my mum needed far more than family and daily carers could provide. After an initial visit and several questions and queries, we decided to choose this care setting for mum. She was greeted very warmly and introduced to many of the
staff and management on her first day. Mum is very anxious and has not always found it easy, but staff are kind, helpful and empathetic.

My father recently spent a short time at Allenbrook's where he was treated with both compassion and dignity. The staff at Allenbrook were kind and caring, welcoming my father and our family and making him comfortable in his final days.
I cannot thank or praise the staff enough for the care they provided
at such a difficult time.
Reply from Helen Ayres, Registered Home Manager at Allenbrook Nursing HomeThank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words. It was a true privilege to care for your father during such an important and sensitive time. We are deeply grateful that you felt he was treated with the compassion, dignity and comfort he deserved. Your comments mean a great deal to our entire team, and we are honoured to have been able to support both your father and your family.

The care provided by staff to my husband is excellent. He has been a resident here for 3 years and has been treated with dignity and kindness which is very gratifying as he has several very complex needs. Any issues are quickly and efficiently sorted out by management. It is a place where all residents
are given the best individual attention and they are all part of the family. Also a very good activities program is carried out on a daily basis by an excellent team.

I found all the staff to be caring & helping. The activities try to involve all the members. The area that's used for members to relax during the day is large & bright with clocks (important) to elderly people, & paintings done by members adorn the walls. Daily, the seats are rotated, which puts members
in different positions. The managment are always available and holds meetings for updates and feedback. The staff do a great job under sometimes very difficult conditions.

Absolutely brilliant. John, my husband, has come on so much since being at Allenbrook Nursing home. He is always doing things that he enjoys - painting, bingo and the sing-a-long. The staff are wonderful. Nothing is too much trouble, they go out of their way to make sure John is happy, comfortable and
content.
We, as a family, have no worries at all. We know he gets the best care he could ask for. He's so happy. Food is fab. John has a cooked breakfast every morning. So getting spoilt rotten. Would recommend Allenbrook.

I was looking for respite care for my Mom who has dementia. I approached Allenbrook, from the first meeting, they put my mind at rest. Gave me a tour of the home and explained in detail what they provide. They are very attentive, and Mom felt at ease. Her room is light and bright. We were encouraged
to bring a few pictures and trinkets that she liked to have around her to put in the room. I was amazed how quickly she settled in., from the managers, nurses, carers, chefs, activity staff, housekeeping, nothing is too much trouble for them to help you. Mom is more stimulated helping with her activities, to do. The animal man she loved with all the birds and owls. The care is outstanding, giving tablets, her hygiene, her drinking lots, eating. I can't sing their praises enough, it as really out my mind at rest. So much so we are looking at making it permanent.

Dad went to Allenbrook for end of life care and was only there for 10 days. During those 10 days he received excellent care, comfort and was treated with respect and dignity by each member of the friendly staff. Nothing was ever too much trouble. This care extended to my brother and I, too, each time
we ²visited. We are so grateful to everyone at Allenbrook for enabling Dad to spend his final days in such a peaceful, caring environment.

It has taken a while but Mom has settled into life here and with encouragement is participating in activities, which is good to see. Care staff are excellent and we are very happy with the overall care Mom is receiving. This is Mom's first experience of living in this type of environment and ti was
always going to creat challenges but the care staff have really helped Mom adjust to her new life.

Nan has been in Allenbrook since January and the difference in her is fantastic. She was bedbound at home for 2 years. She's now out in the chair everyday socialising and playing games. She is so much more alert and the level of care she gets is great. I find all the staff friendly and welcoming. We
are very happy.

Our family have been through a really difficult couple of years. Our Mum died and Dad was diagnosed with dementia. Dad's condition deteriorated really quickly and soon needed nursing care because he was unable to perform even basic personal care. The staff at Allenbrook are so brilliant with Dad. He
is looked after really well. There are activities to keep him happy and he tells us all of the time how well they look after him. He loves the food which is prepared fresh by chefs. As a family, we can enjoy our time with Dad knowing he's looked after well.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.622)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.622) out of 10 for Allenbrook Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.622 for Allenbrook Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (229 Excellents x 5) + (101 Goods x 4) + (13 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 344 Ratings = 4.622
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Allenbrook Nursing Home is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 36 registered maximum number of service users is 7.2, which has been reached with 29 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
