Upon visiting my elderly uncle I was so happy to see him looking so well.
The staff and manager were very welcoming.
There was a singer in the lounge which all the residents enjoyed.
The home smelt clean and was very tidy.

I loved the offer to return and book the private dining room. A great idea with Christmas approaching.

Thank you so much for your kind review and it's really great to read that you found Holmer so welcoming - it is very much the resident's home for life and we very much encourage family and friends to see it and treat it as such. I hope you have a lovely meal with your uncle!

My Mum moved into Holmer Manor Care Home in late 2022. Mum has vascular dementia and very limited mobility. I wanted to care for her at home for as long as possible but when the time came for 24-hour specialist care for Mum the manager at Holmer Manor was so helpful and understanding.
Mum is happily settled in Holmer Manor. Her room looks out onto the garden, she is well cared for, enjoys the variety of activities and really enjoys the meals, especially the afternoon cakes.

The staff are always very helpful, caring and cheerful.

My wife was diagnosed with dementia in 2017 and was admitted to Holmer Manor Care Home in 2021. The loving care and support given to my wife is second to none. I am always appreciative of the support given by the nursing staff and the care staff for personal needs, dressing/undressing and assistance with walking now she has become unsteady on her feet. Most of her waking time is spent in the day room, with a love of dancing she is eager to take part, but with the unsteadiness on her feet support is provided willingly by one of the carriers. As a visitor to the home, usually three times per week, you are made most welcome by the manager and all her staff and any queries or questions you have are answered most willingly.

Overall Experience

My partner has been in Holmer Manor Care Home since February 2023. he is 90 - had a second stroke in November 2022 - making his mobility worse and also the vascular dementia. The family have all found it very stressful dealing with a very different man and realising that he needed more care to keep him safe. he is settling in well though every day is different. I have found it particularly helpful being able to talk to other carers at the carer's meetings and hearing of their experiences on the journey with their loved ones.

Reply from Geoff Butcher, Director at Holmer Manor Care Home

Beautiful home, staff so friendly and go the extra mile. the manager is so approachable and you don't feel rushed when talking to her, she makes time for you and takes the time to listen to you. The residents are always doing activities and not just sat in thier rooms, The activity co-ordinator is so friendly, a true asset to the home.

If you are thinking of placing your loved one in this nursing home I wouldn't hesitate, I wish my mam was here from the beginning.

It was the hardest thing putting my dad into someone else's care being a carer myself but the experience has been excellent. If anything does arise I just have to contact the staff and it’s sorted. My dad feels safe and confident that he can approach staff for help if he needs it. Dad's room is always clean and tidy and he is always clean. The activity coordinators work with my dad on his own at times as he has socially withdrawn, his needs are being met. My dad needs to walk most days as he is restless and this is something he did before he became ill, the staff take him for walks on the days the family aren’t able to. I cannot thank the manager and her team for all that they have done and continue to do for my dad and our family.

I cannot speak highly enough of the care my mother has received at Holmer Manor Care Home. She is physically very frail, but her mental capacity is very strong. No signs of dementia so the very fact that all the staff she interacts with have the time to chat with her whilst providing the intimate care she needs with dignity. The office staff, catering (she loves the food), nursing, cleaning, activities and hairdresser all come in for providing a first-class service. Thank you and apologies if I have missed anyone.

Staff extremely knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and thoughtful. Cleanliness is to a very high standard. Rooms are to a high standard. The care of my aunt has been amazing. She settled in well, and I have been very impressed with the standard of her care. All her needs are being met and exceeded. I feel more relaxed knowing my aunt is being cared for so well. Thank you to all of the team here.

Words aren't enough to express my gratitude and praise for Holmer Manor Care Home staff. My mum spent the final month of her life as a resident. From my initial interaction with the home manager prior to and throughout the month across all levels of staff, you would be hard pressed to find a more consistently professional, kind, caring, knowledgeable and helpful group of people.
I spent a lot of time there, and the standard of care Mum received was second to none. The staff did all in their power to make her as comfortable as poss. I witnessed the care they gave other residents. I can honestly say that all residents I saw were treated with immense kindness and compassion with very high standards of care 24x7. The thoughtful things the staff did made a huge difference.
There are many names I'd like to mention for their outstanding care but those involved with Mum will know who they are, and no matter whether involved, a little or a lot - you were all wonderful.

Thank you is simply not enough.

Review from Carol F (Wife of Resident) published on 19 December 2022 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My husband moved into Holmer Manor nursing home in January this year. He had been for respite care during December 2021 and in fact, asked to go there again as he found it very comforting in a bewildering world. His Dementia had progressed during the isolation at home caused by the Covid lockdowns. He settled very quickly and I was really touched by the care and patience shown by all the staff towards him. I also appreciated the understanding shown towards me and our family as we gradually adapted to our new and very different lives apart. The feeling of loving care and interest shown towards all the residents and their visitors allows me to realise he is happy and feels safe. His anxiety has significantly lessened and it is lovely to see him smile again. He enjoys his food and wandering around to see what is going on, keeping him mobile. I feel so lucky and comforted that he is so well looked after.

My Mother had advanced dementia and went into care with Holmer Manor Nursing Home in December 21.
They provided her with the very best care I could have hoped for. The premises were very clean, the staff experienced and caring.

My Mother had the very best care I could hope for until she died on 20th September 2022. She died peacefully and happy in her sleep all thanks to the wonderful care she had received in the twilight months.

My mum-in-law was reluctant to go into a nursing home. After a few days she was very complimentary about her room, nurses, staff, food and feeling safe.

The staff are always available to deal with any worries my mum-in-law has also all the family. It is a homely feel not too big or noisy. We feel so relieved and less stressed about my mum being safe and looked after.

Kate SmithJob Title:ManagerJoined: 2025

My name is Kate Smith and I am the Manager at Holmer Manor Nursing Home. I have worked in Health and Social Care since graduating in 2005, initially in supported living where I also gained my Masters degree. My first Registered Manager’s position was in 2009 when I commissioned an Extra Care Facility, and since then I have worked in a variety of roles as a Registered Manager. I have also worked as Regional Manager’s for care organisations and this has furthered my passion for providing high quality, person-centred care. I have recently come back to Home Management, so as to be closer to home and enable me to work in a home that’s good enough for my Mum – and I believe Holmer Manor is just that! My family are incredibly important to me and in my spare time I enjoy outings with my husband and our son, sunny holidays whilst reading a good book. If you would like to come and visit Holmer Manor, please feel free to contact me and I would be more than happy to show you around our wonderful home.

tracy jacksonJob Title:Deputy ManagerJoined: 2024
My name is Tracy Jackson, I started care in 2021, my background is in mental health where I started as a support worker, moving into a deputy manager role. This encouraged me to become a little hungry for a higher position in care, so I completed evening college putting my self through My NVQ level 4. In the meantime I dedicated myself to helping individuals to manage their well-being with compassion and understanding. During this time the opportunity to become a registered manager become available ; after successfully gaining my registration, I remained in the role for 14 years. After a period managing a supported living service, i wanted to return to my passion which is residential care as part of the management of team of the wonderful Holmer Manor.
My life has been shaped by a deep commitment to care , whether in a professional setting or with my own family.

I enjoy time with my children and nine grandchildren, holidays away with my husband, in the caravan exploring the UK coastal lines. gardening, arts, and crafts. My favorite down time is a good book on a beach.
