From the time I contacted the home to find care for my father, the staff were engaged with getting to understand his needs. Since he moved in, his care has been excellent, and the busy staff will always find time to talk to me about how he is doing.

Trying to do their best in difficult times. My father seems relatively happy being it's his first time separated from his wife in 70 years.

On visiting my cousin on Wednesday morning I found the staff extremely welcoming, friendly and went well above normal duties. Offering refreshments informing me why my cousin was a little delayed in visiting me, making sure we had a good visit.

My husband went to Holmer Manor for respite. The first impression was worrying, the staff who answered the door were not aware of his arrival. My husband had some complex issues There were no pre-admission notes taken. My husband phoned early afternoon to say he was still in his wheelchair with his
outdoor coat on. The staff had been informed he had a small sore on his sacrum and he needed to be put to bed for a couple of hours in the afternoons. It states in the brochure there is access to both a TV and internet!. My husbands first day was sitting staring out onto the A49. The manager sorted out these issues the following day. On his first night he had to phone home to ask if we could phone and ask to be put to bed. Often his buzzer was out of reach. If they were short of staff he would be left in bed. On two occasions the staff let him slip off the sling onto the floor, luckily he was not hurt. The sore on his sacrum has broken down. It's been a terrible experience.

My mum was in Holmer Manor Care home till she was taken into hospital in January after catching Covid from someone within the home, so after all the expense and putting a screen up it didn't stop the virus and my mum went without seeing her family this last year for nothing and she has sadly passed
away. The staff were mostly caring but the management and owner were a disgrace. They never called the hospital once to see how mum was doing and when she passed away not one call to the family, not even a condolence card which is very uncaring and unprofessional. I would not recommend this home at all.

It is very disappointing that having tried so hard to fulfil your expectations and having exchanged in excess of 50 detailed emails with you and your sister since August 2020 that you continue to denigrate our incredibly hardworking and diligent team. I have emails from you praising our manager but now you publicly call her a "disgrace" and I personally felt I bent over backwards and could have done no more to address your wishes.
We do not call the hospital because when there are next of kin involved the hospital rarely if at all communicates with care homes about the patient, especially with their huge C-19 workload. Profuse apologies for not calling you but we were managing an outbreak of Covid in the home which meant many staff were off work self-isolation and the manager and admin were working 18+ hour shifts caring for our residents. We would ask readers to note that other reviews have a very different view of Holmer Manor and its staff team.

My mum was at the home for 15 months. The care was average apart from one or two that really made an effort. Because of lockdown, we were unable to come into the home to see mum and during this time her dementia got worse. Mum was in good health until January when one of the staff gave my mum COVID.
She never left her room so who else did she get it from.
My mum died in hospital after being in there for three days. The home did not call to see how she was, we did not receive a sympathy card, no contact at all from the home.
When we went to collect mums belongings they were dumped into boxes like rubbish some in black bin bags, ornaments mum had for years were broken (absolute disgrace).
My sister and I had contact with the owner during mums stay here and found him to be unapproachable and very rude. Would definitely not recommend Holmer Manor.

My experience of visiting mother was satisfying. I would probably say that if anything could change it would be the time getting through to management on the phone. I think that £850 week is a lot of money but it was local and Mother seemed to be well looked after. Although she caught a chest infection
(don't know how). The staff could maybe answer the door a bit quicker.

Mother had been in care at Holmer from January 2020 to her death in December 2020. The care provided by the staff at Holmer Manor was exemplary. She was treated with care and dignity at all times. Staff were always on hand to either provide updates on mothers' condition or would find the nurse on duty
for mothers floor for an update to be provided. The nursing staff always had time to talk through mothers' condition.

Always made to feel welcome. Staff really care about the welfare of the residents. Residents always appear happy and well cared for. The food is excellent. The home is clean and well maintained. Plenty of activities and entertainment provided.

The recently created "covid safe" family meeting room is beautiful, lovely decor and floor to ceiling clear perspex screen, with microphones to hear each other. The owner has gone to a lot of trouble and no doubt expense to set this up for family and friends to visit their loved ones. The staff are
a delight and are so positive, caring and helpful. They recently assisted my friend to contact their bank with new instructions, and the carer used their own phone for this purpose. The admin staff are so friendly and nothing seems too much bother for them. When you think about what they have all had to deal with during the pandemic lockdown, it is a wonder they have any energy left. I am so pleased and relieved that my friend is living at Holmer Manor, it has been a load off my mind and he is very happy there. Thank you.

I am here on respite and have been extremely well looked after. The only problem I have is the rest of the patients are beyond having a sensible conversation with. That is because at 81 I am still reasonably mentally stable, able to reason and I can do things for myself.

I have nothing but good things to say about Holmer Manor Nursing Home. My mother was treated kindly and with respect at all times. The staff, from the manager through to nurses and care assistants, in fact, everyone, went over and above what might reasonably be expected of them.
Sadly, Mum recently
passed away in the nursing home, suffering from both Dementia and breast cancer so her needs were complex. For the last critical week of Mum's life, the staff were especially caring. I would not wish to miss anyone in giving praise so would also like to mention the Cook as well as all the lovely caring staff, as she made a special effort to look after my family as we sat for the last week with Mum. She cooked food for us, ensured we had tea/coffee and sandwiches which helped to sustain us.
So, to conclude, the whole team worked to ensure the most important person was nursed and cared for as a person, not just as a resident or a patient, but as a frail and needful human being. Thank you all.

My mother has been cared for in a very compassionate way. The staff are all very caring and helpful. The standards of cleaning in the home are very good. The general appearance of the accommodation is good, clean and tidy, but not clinical, more homely. The food is of a very good standard and plentiful.
Overall, this is a very good home, and I am very grateful to the staff for caring for my mother.

Staff pop in regularly to offer drinks and check Mum is OK.

My name is Kate Smith and I am the Manager at Holmer Manor Nursing Home. I have worked in Health and Social Care since graduating in 2005, initially in supported living where I also gained my Masters degree. My first Registered Manager’s position was in 2009 when I commissioned an Extra Care Facility, and since then I have worked in a variety of roles as a Registered Manager. I have also worked as Regional Manager’s for care organisations and this has furthered my passion for providing high quality, person-centred care. I have recently come back to Home Management, so as to be closer to home and enable me to work in a home that’s good enough for my Mum – and I believe Holmer Manor is just that! My family are incredibly important to me and in my spare time I enjoy outings with my husband and our son, sunny holidays whilst reading a good book. My name is Tracy Jackson, I started care in 2021, my background is in mental health where I started as a support worker, moving into a deputy manager role. This encouraged me to become a little hungry for a higher position in care, so I completed evening college putting my self through My NVQ level 4. In the meantime I dedicated myself to helping individuals to manage their well-being with compassion and understanding. During this time the opportunity to become a registered manager become available ; after successfully gaining my registration, I remained in the role for 14 years. After a period managing a supported living service, i wanted to return to my passion which is residential care as part of the management of team of the wonderful Holmer Manor.
My life has been shaped by a deep commitment to care , whether in a professional setting or with my own family.
I enjoy time with my children and nine grandchildren, holidays away with my husband, in the caravan exploring the UK coastal lines. gardening, arts, and crafts. My favorite down time is a good book on a beach.
