My mum settled here well the carers and nurses are lovely they look out for mum,mum was here for rest for couple of weeks then mum needed full time care so we all happy for mum to come here,they have singers and music coming in mum enjoys listening to it.over all pleased with this care home.

My wife has settled in really quickly. She is very happy. She smiles at the staff when they give medication or help her to the toilet. Her appetite has improved. She is more alert as the nurses working with her G.P have reduced the medication she was taking.

I have not attempted to 'mark ' some of the points. I was here such a short time and my needs so untypical. The floor staff were all very friendly and always willing to help. They have patience and understanding with the ordinary residents. A possible future for me.

We have found Mum has settled in well. So far so good. Knowing some of the staff is a good thing. If I'm honest could ask Mum if she needs anything. But that's if Mum Is telling me the truth! But we are happy with the service so far.

Dad moved to Waverley house in 2024 with a broken hip after a stay in hospital struggling with dementia. He was very confused and lost. The staff at Waverley House have all been extremely caring and kind and they brought Dad back to stable and happy and content. The support they provided was first class. Dad grew to be as settled as he may ever be and we couldn't have asked for better care for Dad. Thank you to all the wonderful staff.

Recently my wife had a fall resulting in a fractured hip. She lives in the nursing suite of 40 residents. The carers and nurses have provided excellent rehabilitation support and real progress is being made to improve my wife's quality of day-to-day life. Waverley provides a homely, relaxed atmosphere for residents and visitors with hardly any restrictions imposed. The kitchen staff produce excellent meals and if needed adjusted for individual needs. The standard cleaning and laundry is excellent. Activities to stimulate interest is a regular feature including a wide variety of musical events; most allowing residents to take part. A Church communion service is held. One-to-one interaction is tailored to specific needs and abilities. Residents' families and friends form informal groups to share their own feelings and discuss ways in which life can be improved for residents without adding to the very high workload.

After finishing my degree I returned to live in the Leominster area, I was looking for a job to get into the health care sector. I applied for several care positions, Waverley’s “care for them like your own family” attitude is what drew me to them.
When I first started at Waverley I was extremely nervous and had zero experience with helping to care for others. The team were fantastic showing me around and able to answer all my questions. One benefit of working for Shaw is the 70 hours shadowing period. In other care settings, this can period can be as low as 12 hours. Shadowing over a longer period like this allowed me to learn from staff in a hands-on approach, in turn, this allowed myself and the resident to feel confident in my ability to carry out high-quality care when I started my shifts.
I had been a support worker for two years when the position of a team leader became available. I had worked hard as a support worker and felt ready to progress in my career, after an interview I was offered the position.
My current role includes liasing with other health care professionals such as doctors and social workers. It involves me creating care plans individually tailored to each resident under my care. Care plans highlight client's specific needs and includes important information in regards to an individual's care. As a team leader, I am also responsible for a team of care staff in the delivery of care to residents in a designated residential unit. I am responsible for the management and administration of medication. My role includes working effectively with others within the home to ensure resident's needs are safely met. Furthermore, I strive to champion person-centred care approaches. It is my responsibility to maintain knowledge of the organisation’s responsibilities under the CQC regulations, including residents’ rights. In addition to Work in compliance with Shaw Healthcare Policies & Procedures.

It has been an honour to accompany our residents along this important journey of their lives, and provide the wellness, happiness and kindness along the way. I like working at Waverley because amidst all that may seem uncertain to our residents and their families, we provide the certainty of a home away from home.
