I would like to give a big shout out to Paige, one of the activities staff, her care and compassion are second to none, she really has helped my Mum, who struggles with in social situations, she has managed to get her to join in activities and took her to the beach, my Mums favourite place, which really
made her happy, I cannot praise Paige enough for the time and effort she has put in to make my Mums quality of life so much nicer, I'm very happy that she is being well cared for.
Reply from Joanne Holman, Home Manager at The MartletsThank you so much for your lovely feedback. We are delighted to hear how much Paige has helped your mum. Her care and compassion mean a great deal to us, and it is wonderful to know she has encouraged your mum to join in and enjoy such special moments. Your kind words will be shared with Paige and the team. We are so pleased your mum is happy and well cared for.

My Mum has been going for respite at the Martlets several times a year for nearly 3 years. The staff and management are friendly and professional and there is generally a homely atmosphere, not an institutional one. The building is spacious, light and well cared for. My Mum is welcomed back each time
which makes the whole process easier. The management and carers go out of their way to try to meet requests.
Reply from Joanne Holman, Home Manager at The MartletsThank you for your lovely review! We're so glad to hear that your mum has had such positive experiences during her respite stays at The Martlets. It's great to know that the friendly and professional staff, along with the homely atmosphere, make her feel welcome each time. My mother will have been at Lancum House for nearly three years in May 2026.
The care given to my mum has been consistent, all the workforce continue doing a brilliant job,, often under very challenging circumstances.
I appreciate the hard and demanding service they provide, but always with a smile,
kindness and compassion, so cannot thank everyone enough for what they do, I am very grateful to everyone, and I am sure my mum is too.
The Activity Leaders arrange various activities, the kitchen staff too, cook and provide delicious meals.
The app is just so brilliant , mum really enjoys looking through the photos in her printed Gazette each week with Jackie and Charlotte. I have just prepared Gazette No 130 for my mum this week! A trip down memory lane for everyone.
The Dementia Choir is thoroughly enjoyed by everyone too-its all smiles and laughter...and memories too!
Reply from Alysha Coleman, Home Manager at Lancum HouseThank you so much for your thoughtful review. We're incredibly grateful for your kind words and are so pleased to hear that your mum is receiving such wonderful care at Lancum House. My mother has been at Deerswood Lodge for one week after a stay in hospital following several falls and unable to cope at home. I feel compelled to write this review so soon into her stay because I am blown away by the kindness of every member of staff no matter their role. Mum has been made to feel
so welcome by everyone. I am a specialist hospital nurse of 35 years so I know good care and I was so anxious about mum moving away from home as was she. I could not feel more reassured about leaving mum in their wonderfully kind, capable and caring hands. Her room and the whole home is spotless and so well equipped. The food and menu choices are incredible , beautifully presented and so much attention is taken by the carers to make sure mum has exactly what she would like to eat . I love visiting , there is always something going on, music playing , laughter and chat, the residents have total freedom of the home. It is such a fabulous place .

Overall, the home is clean and tidy, and the staff are lovely and very caring. The management team are good, anything that is needed they will endeavour to sort it. Food, I feel, with most of the residence they do need something that is softer to eat due to lack of teeth, but overall the food is satisfactory.

After two falls in his home, my brother was admitted to hospital for examination. Elizabeth House (EH) had been recommended as an excellent care facility and we visited to consider a possible later placement for him. However, during our visit - late afternoon, the hospital called to say my brother
would be discharged that evening. Suddenly, a "general overview" visit became a critical requirement for accommodation!! EH Management and Care Staff responded brilliantly - and immediately began making arrangements, preparing a room/facilities to make my brother comfortable - and obtaining information from us about his condition, medication etc. Later that evening, the Care Staff Shift Leader confirmed that my brother had arrived and was now safely in bed. Every time we visit we are pleased to see the care, attentiveness and friendliness of all the care staff - and their caring interaction with all residents and ourselves. Very pleased with everybody involved at Elizabeth House.
Reply from Marian Drake, Home Manager at Elizabeth HouseThank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are so pleased we were able to support you and your brother at such short notice and help make his transition as smooth and comfortable as possible. It is wonderful to hear your kind comments about our management and care team and the warmth and attentiveness you see when you visit. Your feedback means a great deal to us and we will be sure to share it with the whole team at Elizabeth House.

I have nothing but thanks and praise for the staff of Elizabeth House. Dad has been there a year, the staff have always been warm, welcoming, friendly, caring and professional, contributing to the family feel. Communication channels are always open, whether thats regarding dads care, activities dad
has chosen to join in (which are many and varied. There have been outings, in house activities also visits from singers, animals and entertainers) or generally how he's been. There is support for the family too, all staff have ensured we feel welcome there, that we can drop in anytime to visit and keep family together as much as possible. I see the interactions with dad and staff, making him laugh, treating him with dignity and respect, ensuring his room/ the home is clean tidy and comfortable. They ask dads preference for drinks, he has his elevenses still, with cake or biscuits and fish and chip Friday, but with other choices if preferred. He is settled, in a safe, caring, clean home.
Reply from Marian Drake, Home Manager at Elizabeth HouseThank you for such a thoughtful review.
