Very welcoming, staff attentive, my husband settled in quickly which relieved me! The fact that he is happy with the situation means, so am I, for his sake. I can also visit whenever I like.

My friend moved to Croft Meadow last year. She moved there from hospital.
Everything is just great, she settled well and everyone is so helpful. I love visiting her, we just returned from a trip out on the mini bus. She could not be in a better place.

Although our mums stay was very short, can I just say the care and kindness shown to mum was excellent. The staff (all) are wonderful and caring people and we could spend a lifetime thanking them and it still wouldn't be neough. We live quite a way from our late mum but we knew that mum was safe and
being cared for so well. Thank you for being there for our mum.

After a two month stay in hospital and 4 weeks in a rehab unit, my husband moved into Croft Meadow, unable to walk. Even on arrival the change was instant. The staff treated him like a human being and were very kind and capable. 2 days later he was walking with a zimmer frame (2 months later he hardly
needs his walking stick!) He is showered, shaved and dressed every morning. Breakfast is provided when the resident wants it (other meals are more formal with everyone eating together). The tables are nicely out. The place is always clean and no smells! He is treated with respect at all times. Entertainment is provided am and pm on weekdays. The management listen when there is an issue and usually action is taken quickly. Very very pleased.

Came to Croft from hospital as I am not to well.
Eveyrone is so nice and always happy to help me out. Enjoy activities all the other floors, made some new friends in the home. I settled so well here.

Mum has had respite care in September and December 2024. Each time she has enjoyed her stay. Staff have made her stay very special. There are always so many activities going on to engage her! Whilst there I was able to attend a Christmas Carol service with her, which she thoroughly enjoyed and so did

It was my mother’s 100th birthday on May 1st and the celebration that the home put on was wonderful for relatives friends and of course for mother. The lady who organised had done a wonderful job with pictures balloons birthday cake and the entertainment.

Since Mum came to the home, she has settled in and really made friends. Food could be a little more fresh and more outings out. Very happy with the staff and the general keeping me updated with Mum. Was thinking if it would be good to have a meeting for families to attend on understanding dementia.

My wife has been very happy at Croft Meadow. The staff go out of their way to look after her, meet her needs and keep her safe They respond quickly to requests and do their best to anticipate needs. The housekeeping staff are excellent too. My favourite thing is that everyone talks to her, uses her
name (and mine as well) and gives big hugs when she wants one!

My mum has been at Croft Meadow since July this year. She has been very warmly welcomed and made to feel at home. As a result, she has settled in really quickly.
The staff have been really kind, caring and helpful. They have got to know my mum's needs and treat her respectfully and as an individual.
Any questions or concerns are dealt with/ answered quickly, which is excellent.
My mum enjoys taking part in the activities which are well run with lots going on. I also think it’s great that the website is updated regularly, as it’s nice to see what’s been happening and see photos (as my mum has dementia, she doesn’t remember what she’s been doing, so this is really helpful as a relative).
The home is bright, tidy, clean and homely and my mum is really happy there (which makes me happy too!).

My mother has been made very welcomed and safe at Croft Meadow. She was extremely unwell in hospital and subsequently couldn't go home.
All the staff have attended to her needs, both physical and mental. Her accommodation is warm, safe and secure. She has homely touches and very much feels at home.
The
facilities she uses are superb. Catering is varied and nutritious. She even had a cake made to celebrate her birthday.
Activities range from watching TV in the main room, to having animals and small ponies come in they can interact with. Weekly activities such as singing, food tasting, games quizzes and outings.
All staff are attentive, kind and have a sense of humour. My mother has commented she feels safe, warm well fed and above all happy. As a family, we couldn't wish for more. Thank you Croft Meadow for looking after our much loved mum.

Carmen Flueras

I began working for Shaw healthcare in November 2018 joining Hillside Lodge as a Home Manager. My first time as a home manager and the first time with Shaw, I am enjoying both very much.


Prior to joining Shaw, I enjoyed roles of clinical lead and deputy manager in three different homes, in the West Sussex area.
I originally trained as a nurse in Romania my homeland, where I worked in a cardiac clinic for several years.

Here at Hillside Lodge, I really like that I can make a change in people lives and I feel so privileged, to care for a generation to whom life was something you can only see in the movies.
Since becoming Manager, I have made a point of getting to know all the residents in the home, they all call me by my christian name.
My office door is open to residents whenever they would like a chat or sometimes, they just pop by for a coffee with me.


Memories of a special working day? Well, last year’s Christmas fair was something to remember, I was holding a snake weighting only few pounds less than me and the other reason I have to say is the joy in the residents faces whilst they shaved my hair for charity.

After having my children, I started at Croft Meadow (age 24) as a care assistant then after 29 years as a carer I changed roles to domestic. I have an NVQ in care level 2.
