I am very happy with my mother's care. The staff have a good understanding of dementia. There has been a lot of changes in staff due to some staff retiring or changing roles. An excellent activity organiser left and has only recently been replaced. Now with Covid-19, I cannot visit my mother but the staff reassure me that she is content. The staff have worked incredibly hard in very difficult circumstances. Their kindness and care is superb.

I was pleasantly impressed when I was first shown round. My husband said on entering "This has a happy atmosphere" and he settled quickly and has been happy there for the past two-plus years. We were encouraged to 'personalise' his room and have done so, he enjoys the food and finds the staff kind and efficient. The doctor is called promptly if any health problems occur and appropriate treatment is put in place. He is kept comfortable at all times.

My sister thinks all the nurses and carers are all nice and kind.
Exit door (2) security needs to be improved. Some residents already know which buttons to press.

Activities are varied and good. More animal visits would be an improvement.

Following a useful pre-visit, Dad was welcomed into Croft Meadow where he was quickly made to feel at home. The staff were friendly and attentive and took great care with his medicines and ensuring his safety. He enjoyed mealtimes where he was encouraged to mix with the other residents and interact (albeit in a limited way due to his dementia). He thoroughly enjoyed his visit!

My father was placed here for respite care whilst he awaited a long term becoming available. Our experience of Croft Meadow was a really positive one. We found all the staff to be excellent, caring and helpful in the extreme. I really could find no fault with the care home please keep it up.

My mum went to Croft Meadow. She loved the entertainment after a few years of not leaving her room at a previous home. However mum was at Croft Meadow for six months and sadly passed away. The staff were great and showed great care in some difficult situations with some of the residents. Thank you all.

I find the home in general very good, but items from Christmas are missing. I think more staff are needed. The activities coordinator is amazing with the residents, they love her so much. She is so good for the home.

What a delightful home, light, airy, clean and a lovely safe caring atmosphere, with always friendly and cheery staff.
Would I want to live here? Most definitely!

Certainly the best I've seen. We're happy and confident our loved one is content here and receiving understanding and compassionate care. If only my son could be here too. He's on the waiting list. So fingers crossed it won't be too long!

My Mother was a resident at Croft Meadow for approximately 6 months during which time she was very well cared for by all the staff. The staff in charge of entertainment deserve a special mention as they managed to get my, 'reluctant', Mother involved in many activities. My Mother enjoyed the food and was very happy during her time at Croft Meadow.

My aunt has been at Croft Meadow for nearly two years. Since arriving at Croft Meadow she has thrived.
At 98 she was becoming frail and confused but now because of good nutrition and stimulation she's become her old self and has just celebrated her 100th birthday there in style. I find the carers kind, considerate and hardworking.

Couldn't find a better care home.

My aunt has been resident at Croft Meadow for almost 2 years during which she has received an excellent level of care. I can visit about once a month and always find a friendly atmosphere and caring and supportive staff. I was particularly pleased recently with the effort everyone at Croft Meadow put into giving my Aunt a wonderful 100th birthday celebration. Thank you so much

The staff at Croft Meadow have looked after and cared for my aunt for several years. They have shown care and patience and they have coped with her absolutely brilliantly. I think that she has given them pleasure, or cheek, but it has been rewarded tenfold by their care, response and dare I say, love. Thank you all.

From the day my father became resident at Croft Meadow, he and my family were warmly welcomed to the home.
The staff were friendly and professional and took time to get to know my dad and he was able to get to know them.
As he became more poorly, the staff did not put a foot wrong in the way they cared for him and for that I and my family are deeply thankful.

Croft Meadow became his home and it was a home that truly cared.

Nice atmosphere when you walk in. Staff are very friendly and efficient. The room and surrounding areas always look clean. There seem to be plenty of activities going on, which is good for the residents. Would certainly recommend Croft Meadow to friends and family if similar care was needed.

Carmen Flueras
Carmen FluerasJob Title:Service ManagerJoined: 2018

I began working for Shaw healthcare in November 2018 joining Hillside Lodge as a Home Manager. My first time as a home manager and the first time with Shaw, I am enjoying both very much.

Prior to joining Shaw, I enjoyed roles of clinical lead and deputy manager in three different homes, in the West Sussex area.
I originally trained as a nurse in Romania my homeland, where I worked in a cardiac clinic for several years.

Here at Hillside Lodge, I really like that I can make a change in people lives and I feel so privileged, to care for a generation to whom life was something you can only see in the movies.
Since becoming Manager, I have made a point of getting to know all the residents in the home, they all call me by my christian name.

My office door is open to residents whenever they would like a chat or sometimes, they just pop by for a coffee with me.

Memories of a special working day? Well, last year’s Christmas fair was something to remember, I was holding a snake weighting only few pounds less than me and the other reason I have to say is the joy in the residents faces whilst they shaved my hair for charity.

I really love my job!
