From the moment my husband arrived, he has received warm, friendly, helpful assistance to settle in.

Staff have been willing to listen and help us both to adapt to a new phase of caring. I couldn't ask for more.

My mother was in a nursing home for eighteen months - she was given one months notice as the home said she had senile dementia - on August 12th 2021 she was transferred to Croft Meadow Care Home. On her arrival, she was greeted like a friend by the lead nurse - I have been impressed ever since - wonderful, caring staff.

My husband, who has dementia, has been a resident at Croft Meadow Care Home for eighteen months now after contracting Covid. All the staff are dedicated to the care of others and their work - they are also wonderfully supportive to both of us. Especially when I feel guilty and sad. My husband is well looked after with excellent meals, personal care, laundry etc., other advantages are the various activities available i.e. singing, concerts, films, even a 'quiet room' and a mobile bar.

I do wish these lovely people could be better rewarded for their care and attention to the vulnerable as I am certain most of us could not do their job.

My husband has bad dementia and is bedridden. He had to have full-time care and be helped to eat. The staff are all so kind and caring and he has never seemed stressed or upset in any way. It has been very difficult during the pandemic with very little visiting but the staff have coped admirably.

My dad has been extremely well cared for. He hasn't been the easiest customer, but the staff at Croft Meadow have understood his needs and given him the care he needs. They have also given the family the support which has been gratefully received.

My sister finds it very difficult to get the right words and to say what she really means. Most of the staff appear to be patient with her most of the time. She can also have "tantrums", which they mostly deal with by showing patients and understanding.

My parents went into the home at the start of lockdown. It was very hard, but the staff did everything to make it easier. Their commitment to making sure all staff and residents were safe during the covid19 crisis. Every member of staff is so caring. I know my parent are in very capable hands. Some staff members have gone above and beyond for my mum, who is nearing the end of her life. This has been a great comfort to me and my family. I would recommend Croft Meadow to anyone looking for a safe and caring home for their loved ones.

My mother and father have been here for four years. The support they have received is excellent. The rooms and service are excellent. Sadly my father passed away last year but the support that was given I could not fault. I know these last few months have been difficult but have been kept informed all the time.

My husband was admitted to Croft Meadow at the beginning of Feb. He took a while to adjust but then unfortunately then the lockdown kicked in and his behaviour became a bit of a problem. However, the staff were very kind and patient and I understand his medication has now been changed. We have been very happy with the home and the support, especially from those in charge. Although it has been hard for all the staff in the current situation, I thank them all most sincerely for keeping my husband safe.

Croft Meadow was my mother's and my first choice when selecting a care home and I'm very glad that a place was found for her. She has a lovely room overlooking the garden. The staff are always very friendly to her and she also likes them all, especially when banter is involved. The food I am told is good along with the choices available and the little treats she has. During the COVID crisis, there have been many phone calls and Skype calls so we have been able to stay in touch. Thank you all so much.

Always a warm welcome to the home. My cousin always looks clean and well dressed and is happy. The rooms are nice and the cleanliness of the en-suite is good. The menu is varied. They always have plenty to drink. I usually visit three times a week. The staff is very caring and supportive. I thank them all.

I have known Croft Meadow for more than two years. My aunt became a resident after a very difficult period, and the staff at Croft Meadow were unfailingly patient, kind and professional. I have found team leaders and carers to be well-informed, thorough and warm towards the residents. The place itself has a friendly and warm atmosphere.

Croft Meadow has consistently offered good care to my father. cares have always been cheerful and accommodating. Team leaders and the manager keep me involved in any changes and the team have gone out of their way to organise skype calls twice weekly to comfort my father so he can see me. Nothing ever seems too much for this brilliant team.

Overall Experience
My mum has been in Croft Meadow for nearly nine years.
She has gone from being forgetful, but very active and wanting to get involved with everything that was going on, to having very little memory and needing help to stand and move around. Mum used to love music, singing, crafts, animals and more. Mum still enjoys a little dance or a sing with the help of carers and her face reacts when she hears the staff talking to her.
Mum has always been a very happy, calm, smiley person and she has kept these traits.
The staff at Croft Meadow look after Mum very well, she is always clean and neat. They have organised someone to come in and feed Mum her dinner which frees staff to help others. They watch her weight and health and let us know of any problems.
There is always a warm welcome when my husband and I visit, either alone, with grandchildren or other family members.

All the family are grateful for the care the staff at Croft Meadow give and it is nice to know that Mum is safe and well there.

Carmen FluerasJob Title:Service ManagerJoined: 2018

I began working for Shaw healthcare in November 2018 joining Hillside Lodge as a Home Manager. My first time as a home manager and the first time with Shaw, I am enjoying both very much.

Prior to joining Shaw, I enjoyed roles of clinical lead and deputy manager in three different homes, in the West Sussex area.
I originally trained as a nurse in Romania my homeland, where I worked in a cardiac clinic for several years.

Here at Hillside Lodge, I really like that I can make a change in people lives and I feel so privileged, to care for a generation to whom life was something you can only see in the movies.
Since becoming Manager, I have made a point of getting to know all the residents in the home, they all call me by my christian name.

My office door is open to residents whenever they would like a chat or sometimes, they just pop by for a coffee with me.

Memories of a special working day? Well, last year’s Christmas fair was something to remember, I was holding a snake weighting only few pounds less than me and the other reason I have to say is the joy in the residents faces whilst they shaved my hair for charity.

I really love my job!
