Abbott House

My Mum was cared for at Abbott House from June 2023. Mum was well looked after by all the staff. The home is clean, rooms are excellent with ensuite facilities. Food is prepared with care and a choice is given to residents. I visited Mum daily and I was extremely impressed with the caring staff. After Mum died, I visited another lady there until May 2026. In all that time, it was a pleasure to find the same staff working, I think this is very important for the residents to have the same familiar faces looking after them. I visited Abbott House today to see a friend of mine, what a pleasure to see all the staff again. Nothing is too much trouble for them. I applaud them.

The overall feel of AH is friendly, welcoming, caring & professional.

As always , am super impressed with the attention to detail that staff at Abbott House have looking after my Mum. Regular contact to discuss her care. Mum is very settled and I am very happy that she is being cared for so well. Shout out to all the lovely staff.

Mum has been in Abbott House for over 4 years and has always been treated with care, dignity, kindness and respect by all the staff. Unfortunately during that time the home has had 4 managers! Thankfully Holly (one of the previous managers), did stay for 2 years so there was a stable and happy atmosphere during that period. Since then if it hadn't been for Hannah who has been at Abbott Houses for at least 5 years (initially as a carer, then working alongside Holly as Assistant Manager), and the regular staff I may have considered moving mum. But thanks to them, mum is safe, contented and well looked after.

When my friend first went to Abbott House it was well run and it was obviously the well being of the residents which was the priority. In the last few months, although it can be seen that the carers still have the best interests of the residents at heart and they do their best for them, this can not be said of the management which is poor.

"Care" home ???

Carers, housekeeping and kitchen staff all do their best in difficult circumstances. The home lacks effective leadership and is currently, in my opinion, poorly run. The best interests of residents is not at the centre of decision making. Poor engagement with adult social care has caused considerable disruption and ultimately my mother has moved to another home.

My Mum, Marion absolutely loves being in Abbott House. The staff are so lovely to her and very caring aswell. They always have activities on for the residents and the residents are really well cared for by the staff members. Abbott House is really clean and welcoming to every one. The atmosphere is very homely. The rooms are always spotless clean and nothing is to much for the staff to do. Mum has been in Abbott for 3 years now and wishes she had gone in there earlier. The food is excellent to and always a variety to choose from. I wish all care homes were like Abbott House, warm friendly and the staff faultless.

On my last visit Abbott House had a friendly atmosphere, the staff greeted me by name which is welcoming. I had prearranged a time to sit and discuss care plan and needs. This provides a family centred approach to care for my mother in law, with good communication between staff and family.

Abbott House continues to give my mother in law the care and attention she needs. The staff are caring, friendly and thoughtful. The standard of care is high and the Home is always clean and welcoming.

There is a nice atmosphere in Abbott House, and very relaxed when visiting. Very happy we found Abbott House to look after my wife.

Thankyou to the very welcoming staff who are able to answer questions. Lovely garden area outside. Dad is being treated respectfully and everyone is patient with him. Food very good and staff are monitoring his welfare.

Mum has been a resident for some years now and treats it very much as her home. All staff, the manager, the office team, those in the kitchen and those providing care go out of their way to meet the foibles and preferences of the residents. The manager has brought some long-needed stability, long may it continue.

Content with services provided, staffing levels are subject to cost constraints so not ideal, the staff there do their very best and are friendly to my mother in addition to provding the services required.

Our mother has been a resident for 10 months now. On admission she was very confused, resisting any help from everyone including her children but within a very short space of time and with the care and attention shown by each and every member of staff, she has adapted very well and now joins in with a lot of things. The team are fantastic, whether they are care staff, laundry staff, kitchen staff or admin, everyone goes out of their way to make the residents feel cared for and their families and friends feel welcome.

Mum is now 101 and has been at Abbott House for more than five years. She is looked ate very well, even though she is very frail and can be a bit stubborn and difficult at times. The staff are attentive, open, friendly and conscientious and appear to work happily together under caring management.

Both my parents are now residents of Abbott House and they couldn't be happier. The care they receive is excellent and nothing is too much trouble. All the staff are very friendly and visitors are also made to feel very welcome. The home receives excellent service from a nurse practitioner at the neighbouring surgery and it is very reassuring to know that she is on hand to deal with any health concerns etc. The recently appointed activities coordinator is also an added bonus and she is already very popular with my parents. The food is excellent with plenty of choice and the kitchen staff go above and beyond to accommodate special requests.

Auntie is looked after very well. I am very pleased with the care she receives.

Since my Father-in-law has been a full-time resident I have found the care home is run to a very high standard. The rooms and other areas are kept very clean. The staff who look after the residents are first class and very polite. Also, the support staff are also very polite and go above their work to a good standard. I hear from my Father-in-law that the food is good and with 3 good meals a day. The nursing staff I find are very kind and good at what they do. I put the good running of the care home down to two very experienced managers.
