I first went to Abbott House as part of the community action program which is run by Oundle Primary School. We take a small group of children to visit the home, once a week after school, we organise games, reading, singing activities with a few of willing residents. We always get a warm and cheerful welcome, from both the residents and the staff. The living area is light, spaceful, looking on to the garden and the Oundle School chapel and welcoming. The children always have a little cake/biscuit and a drink before they leave, most generous and kind!

I then decided to keep going visiting on my own and I have always been very welcome, whatever the time or the day. I hope I can visit again soon.

Visits to Abbott House have always been pleasant. In the current covid situation, I appreciate the extra measures put in place to keep the residents safe. Although the lack of flexibility in visiting is frustrating, I can appreciate why it is like this for now. The staff are always welcoming and hopefully, moving forwards, we can get back to a bit more normality and contact with our loved ones. The care provided to the residents appears to be of a high standard. There might be some frustration from residents when they question rules or procedures and they are not given a clear explanation of why things are done in a particular way.

Extremely pleased with the care provided. The care taken to ensure residents don't contract Covid 19 is second to none. All visitors to see residents are very carefully screened before being taken to a separate room or outside to the tent for the meeting and after every visit, everything is thoroughly cleaned.

I visit a friend on the way back from town regularly. The home is always welcoming and inviting and the staff always make me feel welcome and offer me refreshments. The home has a pleasant warm atmosphere and is clean and tidy. The residents are always happy and smiling. The manager will always talk to me and shows great empathy to her residents.

This is a excellent care home , demonstrated again through their handling of the COVID-19 situation. Through the whole period I have felt my mother has been safe and this has lessened the stress of not being able to see her regularly. The staff have kept us well informed and are always available for any questions. The fact they have kept the residents safe and free from catching this virus to date is a credit to all of them. The Job of a care worker has been proved to be as valuable as other health staff during a time like this and it should be recognised properly for the vocation it is. Thank you to all the wonderful staff at Abbott House, the care you give is 5 star and it is certainly appreciate by myself and my family.

I have been visiting my dear friend for many years. It has always been a joy to visit. The Staff and management team treat her with the utmost respect, she is always saying how happy she is. I have been unable to see her due to the covid restrictions but have always had constant updates on how she is. I cannot fault the care and dedication of everyone involved in her care. If ever asked to recommend a care home, Abbott House would be the first place I would recommend to anyone enquiring.

My mum had to be moved into nursing care after four years at Abbott House, I want to leave this review as we end our time with this wonderful care home. The staff there have been a wonderful support throughout a difficult process. This is a gem of a care home and I would not hesitate in recommending it. I think what is good is it doesn't have a high turnover of staff like other care homes. The manager is highly respected by staff and visitors and goes that extra mile for people. The same supervisory staff were in place for mum's four years at Abbott House so we had continuity of care. I think if the staff like working somewhere then that speaks volumes. We could not fault mum's care. They also looked after my elderly father with such kindness when he visited. He cried when Mum had to be moved because he will miss the staff greatly. This little place in Oundle to me is the Rolls Royce of Care Homes in terms of the care provided. We will miss everyone. Thank you to you all.

I have such admiration for the team at Abbott House. The compassion, consideration and patience they show to my Mum as her physical and mental condition deteriorates are genuine, consistent and really admirable. I can see that their first priority is for the residents both as individuals and as a community. The staff really go out of their way to find imaginative ways to engage with all the residents. But they're also considerate and caring for the friends and family of residents. I live overseas and have every confidence that they will always do their best for my Mum which is very reassuring.

I have found the staff to be extremely considerate and caring, very discreet about their residents, but also affectionate and tolerant of the volatile behaviour of those suffering from dementia. They are unfailingly polite and sympathetic to the diverse needs of their residents. I must also say how much I appreciate their warm welcome and kindness to visitors - all reflecting good, responsive management of a care home with high standards of delivery.

I visited an elderly friend on 24-1-20. After visiting Abbott House prior to my friend moving in I was impressed by the friendly and professional attitude of the staff which also showed treating the staff with dignity. The menus were of a high standard and varied. I made an impromptu visit which showed that I saw it as it was and not a set time to put on a show for visitors, I have every confidence my friend was in a first-class friendly competent way.

I visited my Aunt at the home, spent 2 hours with her there, then took her out to lunch locally. I return her, rested with her for an hour, then took her to my cousin for tea. On each occasion, I was greeted warmly by staff, brought coffee and later tea and I noticed the staff treated my Aunt kindly, using her name. Her room was extremely comfortable and the home very clean. She seemed happy and contented - all we want.

We moved mother from another nearby care home 18 months ago. Abbott House was in all respects superior.
Mother is 100 in December and has settled superbly and now enjoys life in a well managed, friendly and caring environment.
A wide range of entertainment is available, her room and personal care are exceptional.

She has been well cared for at a couple of times when she had health issues. All in all, she has the care she deserves in the last years of life.

Having looked at several care home facilities in and around the Dundee area, I visited Abbott House unannounced on five separate occasions and at different times of the day to "get the feel of the home". The manager and her deputy were very informative and sensitive to my situation in regard to my mother. It is a huge responsibility to choose the right care home for your loved one and to know that they will be treated well and with the respect that they deserve. My 90-year-old mum has settled in quite well and in a reasonably short space of time considering she has been diagnosed with dementia. The staff are both very kind and caring. There are daily stimulating activities to encourageable residents to join in and not become isolated in their rooms. My mum enjoys the variety in her meals and in my opinion, receives a well-balanced diet. Overall, I am very happy with my choice of care home and would have no hesitation in recommending this facility.

I visit Abbott House weekly with my PAT dog. From my very first visit I was impressed with the building itself and how very friendly all the staff were, not just to me but to all other visitors. In my view, all the residents are treated with kindness, care and consideration and there is a large and varied programme of entertainment, craft sessions and visits from local schools and groups.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Abbott House to friends and family.
