Hannah is learning to bake, makes beautiful sandwiches and is also our resident DJ.
Astra is the newest member of our team, joining in April 2021. Astra has four children and is a grandmother. Astra loves cooking for her family and has worked in kitchens in hospitals and special needs facilities. Current favourites are cheese, mayonnaise and spring onion and the "all day breakfast" along with sausage and pickle. In her spare time Astra likes to spend time with her family and drive her new convertible...yes it is an Astra!
My name is Stuart James Upex. I have lived in Oundle for fifty two years. Most of my ancestors lived in the local village for many centuries. I have worked in a warehouse, a shop and for many years in a local school. For three years I was a carer for my brother and fathers. I have a NVQ qualification in cleaning from Cambridge regional college. Outside of work my interests are reading, cinema and history (especially the great war). I joined the housekeeping team at Abbott house in march 2021. I have found the staff to be helpful and I believe my efforts help to maintain a good standard of living for the residents.
I have always had a passion for working in care and joined Shaw Healthcare in 2021 as a support worker.
After realising this is the profession I wanted to remain in, I progressed from a support worker to a Senior, to a Team Leader, Deputy Manager and I am now the Service manager working towards my NVQ 5.
I enjoy my job immensely and I could not see myself not working in the care sector. It brings me so much joy to see the residents and staff interact as one big happy family!
My name is Hannah Francis I am the Deputy Manager at Abbott House. I started on the 6th of December 2021 as a Support Worker, since that time I have progressed through to a senior Support Worker, Team Leader and recently Deputy Manager.
Before coming to Abbott House, I previously worked in aviation and had my own business as a freelance equine groom. I made the decision to come into the care sector after being inspired by the team that cared for both my parents.
I started working at Abbott House in November as a support worker and over the last 2 years, I have worked my way up to become a Senior/Team Leader. I am being supported to complete my NVQ 3, I really enjoy my job as I like to care for and support others.
I started working at Abbott House in January 2020 as my first job as a day support worker. After a year of gaining knowledge, I have been lucky to have had an opportunity to become a night Team Leader to which I continue to enjoy whilst working with a great team.
My name is Suzanne Jolly and I am the Service Administrator at Abbott House.
I joined Shaw Healthcare in October 2022 after my family and I immigrated from South Africa to the United Kingdom.
My previous working career has always been in the legal profession and I was a paralegal in South Africa.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the change in my job role in the care sector and find every day both a challenge and hugely rewarding.
As a service administrator, my role is varied and I have interactions with colleagues, residents, service users families and external companies/associations on a daily basis.
I strive to be efficient in all of my duties and provide support wherever I can within Abbott House.
