Trenewydd provides both day and residential care for older people as well as for those living with dementia. It also offers respite, convalescence and palliative care.
The purpose-built home works hard to create a welcoming and homely atmosphere, and residents can access any of the three lounges to share time with friends and family. In fine weather, residents can enjoy the lovely grounds, which include a sensory garden and patio area.
All the nutritionally balanced meals are freshly prepared by the home’s chef and cater for individual tastes and special diets. Tea and coffee is served mid-morning, as it is mid-afternoon accompanied by scrumptious homemade cake.
Regular trips to local places of interest are arranged and home-based activities include arts and crafts and visits from local entertainers. Every month a special event is organised to celebrate traditional days and events, from Burns Night to Christmas Day.

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.
1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

Review submitted from a Website Submission by Irene P (Daughter of Resident) on Tuesday 6 March 2018. Relates to February 2018.
On behalf of the family, I would like to sincerely thank the manager and his team for the devoted care that our mum received during the last 4 years of her life. All the staff were so caring, patient and kind and made mum feel so loved and secure.
I would also like to say a big Thank You to the kitchen staff for providing refreshments and occasional meals for the family. This was much appreciated especially during the last 2 weeks of mum’s life. We were all treated with the utmost respect, sensitivity and love.
Having spent so much time at Trenewydd during the past 4 years I consider staff and residents as my friends. I will continue visiting the residents especially the ones who have no local family. I hope also to occasionally volunteer with the home's activity officers and support the monthly church services.
I would highly recommend this home.

I am generally very satisfied with the standard of care which my mother is receiving but am unable to comment on whether it offers value for money as I have no direct experience of the service provided by other similar homes in relation to their cost.

My mother moved into the care home on Friday 16th of September 2016 and the transition from hospital to care has been made very easily due to the efficient and friendly manner of all the staff. In particular, the manager and the housekeeper.
