Victoria House

I am currently a Team Leader at Victoria House. I started as a Domestic in 1992 and have worked here through many job roles over my 30-year service.

Victoria House has a special place in my heart, its my second home and my extended family.

The service users are happy and content, and family members often comment how happy their loved ones are.

We excel at providing person-centred care, promoting independence and excellent palliative care. I have known many staff to go above and beyond to ensure someone’s last days are comfortable and in compliance with their wishes.

Shaw healthcare have supported me throughout my progression, and provided many training opportunities. To enhance my skills and knowledge. I love my job and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

I was made redundant in the job that I loved in March. I knew I had to go to work but I was really unsure on what I wanted to do.
Id worked in care previously but, wasn’t a 100% sure if it was exactly what I wanted to do.
I saw on Facebook that Victoria House was doing some fundraising for a local man and I could join in in by zoom.
When I did I was blown away by the atmosphere in the home, it felt as though I was their joining in and I thought “I want to be part of that”.

I applied for a job straight away and I joined last week. I haven’t been disappointed, everyone’s so friendly and they are literally like an extended family to each other here. I was very apprehensive being the “new girl” but everyone’s made me feel very welcome I look forward to my future at Victoria House.

I have worked at Victoria House since October 2009, initially as a Support Worker then a Senior Support Worker and recently a position as a Team Leader too.
I have gained a variety of experience during my time here and always enjoyed being part of the Service users lives and doing my best to help them feel at home.
Victoria House would not be the same without the Kindness, compassion and Camaraderie of those I have shared my time here with.

I have been working at Victoria House for 7 years. I started off as Catering Assistant and worked my way up to Senior Cook.
I make homemade, nutritious food and cater for all diets. I really enjoy working at Victoria House, it's friendly, rewarding and I feel supported in my role

I started working at Victoria House alongside school when I was 16 as a Bank Domestic Assistant, and since leaving school I am now have permanent hours as a Catering Assistant.
As a first job, I have felt extremely supported by everyone here and really enjoy doing both roles.
Victoria House has such a homely atmosphere and welcomes everyone in, it truly is like a second family here.
I am looking forward to progressing into a support role and gaining more experience.

I have worked at Victoria House for 27 years, I started out as a Domestic Assistant and went on to do Care. I have also worked in the kitchen as a Kitchen Assistant and a Cook.
I have enjoyed all my roles working here over the years and have worked with and still do, some lovely, genuine, hard working people. When you walk through the front of Victoria House, you will notice what a friendly, welcoming and homely place it is, this is down to the caring staff that work here making Victoria House a lovely place to work and live.
This reflects in the residents as they are happy and always saying what a homely environment Victoria House is.
They have a variety of daily activities, bingo, quizzes, themed food evenings etc.
The hairdressers visits also once a week to do their hair if they wish to have it done.
The last 18 months since Covid has been about has been very tough but, with all the staff pulling together, we have tried to maintain as much normality as possible for our residents.

When I first started to work at Victoria House I worked as a Night Support Worker.
After 4 years, I moved to the day shift where I have worked on many roles.
I currently work as a Team Leader and support the staff working as a Senior and a Support Worker on the floor. I love both roles, Victoria House has a very homely atmosphere and we pride ourselves on the excellent care we give our service users.

I have worked at Victoria House for 32 years.
I take my job in the Laundry very seriously and wash their clothes and return them like I would my own. I love a Label.
Over the years I have seen many changes, I have been given the opportunity to work in different homes but, because Victoria House is lovely, I have stayed and remained happy in my role.
Staff are lovely, but most importantly our residents are happy.

I’m the cook at Victoria House, and I absolutely love my job.
I left and recently returned because I missed it so much, and everyone welcomed me back with open arms. I feel supported by the Manager in my role, and staff and residents are lovely and friendly.

I have been working at Victoria House for 7 years, I started as a Domestic Assistant and I am now a Support Worker on days.
Victoria House is like a second family to me, there is a great atmosphere with in the home, we all pull together and I really wouldn’t want work anywhere else.

I started at Victoria House 13 years ago as a Senior Support Worker and have never looked back.
Since started I have been given a Bank Team Leader role and I help out where necessary.
I’m very happy in my work place and they are a great team at Victoria House residents are always happy and smiling.

After a very bad experience in another home, I left care for some time. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go back into care as my confidence had been knocked.
I applied for Support Worker role at Victoria House & have never looked back.
I love coming to work here, I always pick up over time as the staff & residents are so lovely.
I feel fulfilled in my job role when I see a smile on the residents faces.
I got employee of the month once and the fact that my hard word hadn’t gone unnoticed meant so much to me.

I have worked at Victoria House for 5 years and have made some Friends for life here.
It’s a lovely place to work, atmosphere is very welcoming and residents and staff are all friendly.

I've worked in care for the last 15 years, having worked in several different homes.
Victoria House is by far the best place to work. I love coming to work and have a great relationship with staff but most importantly or Service users.
I love to see them laughing and genuinely have a lovely time.
Victoria House is like a little community we all look out for each other.

I joined Victoria House when I was 16 this was my first job since school.
I enjoy coming to work everyone has been really helpful and guided me through my job.
I only came to help out here and there during Covid as a bank domestic and I now have a permanent Maintenance job.

I joined Victoria House as a Bank Support worker 18 months ago, for a little part time job whilst I was studying for University.
I loved it that much that as soon as I was offered permanent hours I jumped at the chance.
I feel like there a family of friends here, and they’ve always supported me.
I’m going back on the bank soon as I’m going University in September, however I'll be in at weeks as I wouldn’t want to leave completely.

I joined Victoria House as a Bank Support Worker as it was recommended to me by a friend that already worked there.
3 years later and I now have permanent hours on both days and nights.
I like the variety from both the job roles, and the hours suit me great working around my Family.
Victoria House is a lovely place to work, it's like home from home.

I worked for the Council for 25 years & then Shaw took over in 2004, so I’ve actually worked at Victoria House for 41 years and I wouldn’t be anywhere else.
Everyone rally’s round each other to make sure it all runs smoothly and that the residents are happy and safe.

I was working at another Care Home, but was after some bank work as well.
Victoria House was recommended to me by a friend that already worked there.
I started on Bank 6 months ago and soon left my other job for permanent hours at Victoria House.
Staff and residents are so welcoming and friendly and everyone has a smile on their face.

I love working at Victoria House and have done since I joined the team in 2017.
I work as a Domestic Assistant and in the Laundry.
Residents are always happy and smiling, this because the staff wear of them.

I worked at another care home for 17 years and never ever thought that I would be as happy as I was there anywhere else.
I absolutely love to come to work, I’m a Domestic Assistant, but I always help out on care when ever needed.
Everyone here mucks in and get the job done, I feel so happy in my job and at Victoria House.

I have been employed in the care sector since 1993 , firstly with the NNCC, private sector then with Shaw Healthcare from 2010, starting at Sandalwood Court as a Deputy Manager and then progressing to Service Manager in 2011, as my colleague will all agree, Victoria House is a home from home. The Team work at Victoria House is exceptional and I am very proud to be the Manager at Victoria House. No two days are the same, during this pandemic we have become, experts in fields we knew nothing about but we have achieved the very best of care our resident’s deserve, we have kept them safe and this is all down to the dedication of the staff within Victoria House and of course the support the residents have given to us, keep going as we are all in the same boat and we have all rowed together.

I worked in care many years ago, and left to raise my family.
My children soon grew up, feeling very apprehensive in what to do next I started Bank shifts at Victoria House.
I’ve never looked back.
It's just a friendly place to work, residents and staff are lovely and I enjoy coming to work.

I have a lot to “Thank” Victoria House for.
I joined in 2015 as a Support Worker and I met my girlfriend here in 2017 we now have 2 beautiful little girls together.
Victoria House is like a family we all look out for each other.

Victoria House is my first job since leaving school.
I was naturally very nervous about starting, but I was put at ease on my first day by all the staff.
Residents are lovely & happy and well cared for, staff are always looking out for each other.
I’m hoping to get permanent hours when some come available.

After having several different jobs I really wanted a work place where I could settle.
I heard about the catering job @ Victoria House through a friend that already worked there.
I applied straight away and was lucky enough to get it.
Since starting I have acted up to cook on occasions when necessary.
Staff are always very positive and encourage one and other.

I started in the Kitchen as Kitchen assistant, then I started university and now I’m back doing bank Domestic.
It works perfect around my university work.
Everyone’s very friendly and staff always encourage me to do the best I can.

I’ve been working at Victoria House for 3 years. It’s very flexible around my 2 Daughters. I work nights and they’re a great bunch of girls.

I'd been working in the community for some time but, the hours wasn’t suiting me anymore. I rang a family member who already worked at Victoria House and she booked me in for a interview. The whole process has been so simple, I felt right at home from the beginning. I’m looking forward to my future within Shaw Healthcare.
