Although it has been very difficult throughout the pandemic not being able to visit my mum, we have been communicating throughout and I am comforted by the fact that she has been extremely well looked after. Since day one, the care home has been on top of the situation and I have been impressed by the level of professionalism taken throughout. I was actually able to visit this week, for the first time in over a year and the staff are as friendly as ever and my mother couldn't speak highly enough of the care she has received. A huge thanks to everyone at Victoria House.

Victoria House is an excellent care home, with a warm and family caring environment. As soon as we first visited the home we knew it would be the right place for my Mother to be safely looked after, a home away from home. All the staff are so friendly, positive, thoughtful and caring and because they remain constant you can build up a relationship. I am always kept updated with anything I need to know about my Mother's care and well-being. The residents are encouraged to join in the activities such as bingo, arts and crafts. My Mother has settled in well and is very happy, enjoying daily banter with all the carers. During the pandemic the home has continued to excel with the daily challenges and been even more support to the residents due to the restrictions on visiting. I can highly recommend Victoria House!

I just wish that my niece would be encouraged to do more, have the TV put on in her room etc. She does not get enough mental stimulation. I appreciate it is of her own request but she is losing her social skills. She falls asleep when I visit her.

My friend has been a resident since June 2020. On arriving at the home, she was welcomed in a friendly manner and immediately made to feel part of the family at Victoria House. The staff have always kept me informed of my friend's welfare and contacted me if there has been a problem. Whilst I haven’t been able to visit on regular basis, (due to Covid 19) when I have visited, I have been welcomed by the staff and could see they are caring to all. My mind is at rest for the care she is receiving. Thank you very much.

I have nothing but praise for the wonderful team at Victoria House. The care for my mother has been exceptional, all members of staff show empathy and care for her, although her dementia has given them many challenges over the years. The home is a lovely modern purpose-built unit, is cheerfully decorated, has modern furniture and is always clean. The staff are always welcoming and informative on Mum’s current physical and mental health. I feel we have been very lucky in finding this home for Mum.

I’d been looking after my friend for many years and then the time came for her to go into a care home. I and her family were very apprehensive. I rang Victoria House and explained my worries. From the get go, I was reassured. When I looked around it was beautiful, so homely. The staff couldn’t do enough for us and put our minds at rest from the very start. This great service has continued and even through these difficult times, we have been reassured. My friend is more than happy there. She plays bingo, does arts and crafts and has made some great friends. Sometimes I feel left out because I ring and she’s to busy to talk as she’s at activities. I can’t praise Victoria House or the staff enough.

After having dealt with numerous care homes in my previous employment as a Police Officer and seeing first hand the varying standards of care and standards of location, accommodation and surroundings plus the calibre and commitment of staff, I can say without question Victoria House in my opinion rates highly in all areas. I have had a long-running relationship with this home who are/have looked after several elderly family members over the years and now would not entrust their care with anybody else. The surroundings are pleasant and inviting, the grounds and activities are second to none but most importantly is that you are welcomed by the staff and that anything asked it never a problem or an inconvenience. I highly recommend if you find yourself looking for a placement for an elderly loved one you ring them up for a chat you will not be disappointed in the fact that your loved one is receiving second to none professional care by staff who do care.

My mum had been very settled in another home for 9 years and when we had to move her we were all very upset as that was her home. However, after being at Victoria House for just a few months it soon became home. It was a weight off our shoulders knowing mum was so happy there, she had such good laughs with the staff And they soon became friends. Victoria House has a lovely warm atmosphere when you walk through the door. When my mum passed the staff were amazing and all her wishes where honoured. I cannot thank the staff enough.

At first, I was very apprehensive of the thought about moving to a care home for a few weeks after my recent hip operation. However, I was pleasantly surprised by Victoria House and the staff. All staff were very helpful and friendly, I was offered activities although I declined due to me isolating I thought it was lovely I wasn't forgotten about.
The food is excellent and I have to say I've eaten more than I ever would at home.
It has been lovely to have my meals presented to me rather than me cooking for myself.

On a whole I don't have any concerns with Victoria House, I've really enjoyed my stay and am looking forward to having my hair done on Wednesday.

From day 1 the home/staff has been a very positive experience. The level of care shown to my friend has been outstanding. My friend has been made welcome and cared for in every way possible, particularly throughout the pandemic and the staff have been brilliant. They have kept the residents safe and also reassured them when it was needed so they have all been kept as safe and happy as possible. From the manager right through to the cleaner they are like a family of caring people. I'd like to say well done to them all.

I am currently a Team Leader at Victoria House. I started as a Domestic in 1992 and have worked here through many job roles over my 30-year service.

Victoria House has a special place in my heart, its my second home and my extended family.

The service users are happy and content, and family members often comment how happy their loved ones are.

We excel at providing person-centred care, promoting independence and excellent palliative care. I have known many staff to go above and beyond to ensure someone’s last days are comfortable and in compliance with their wishes.

Shaw healthcare have supported me throughout my progression, and provided many training opportunities. To enhance my skills and knowledge. I love my job and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

I was made redundant in the job that I loved in March. I knew I had to go to work but I was really unsure on what I wanted to do.
Id worked in care previously but, wasn’t a 100% sure if it was exactly what I wanted to do.
I saw on Facebook that Victoria House was doing some fundraising for a local man and I could join in in by zoom.

When I did I was blown away by the atmosphere in the home, it felt as though I was their joining in and I thought “I want to be part of that”.

I applied for a job straight away and I joined last week. I haven’t been disappointed, everyone’s so friendly and they are literally like an extended family to each other here. I was very apprehensive being the “new girl” but everyone’s made me feel very welcome I look forward to my future at Victoria House.
