When looking for a home for Mum and Dad, Victoria House stood out for me. As soon as I walked in I felt at complete ease. The staff allowed Mum's visits to look at the rooms and building before deciding as well as multiple, continuous questions. It is home from home for my parents. They have settled in so quickly and I know they are receiving 24-hour, quality care which gives me total peace of mind. They always comment on the good food, the friendly, caring staff and I can see how well they both look. All the staff are amazing and this is their job but you can see how much they care.

My mother had to go to hospital for a check on her health. The team were very attentive to her condition and kept me informed.

On her return, they made her comfortable and with their care she has bounced back to her happy self. This care home is the best anyone could wish for.

The carers of Victoria House never let us down. My nan was ill for a third time in a few months and they always treat her with dignity and respect. The medical services were called but nan was never left alone. When she returned from A&E late in the evening they made sure she was comfortable and cosy for a good night's sleep. The staff are always keeping us updated and informed of how nan is. I cannot fault the care they give. As a family we are always welcomed and the fact you can visit at any time says a lot to me. We cannot thank you all enough.

My aunt has now been at Victoria House Care Home for one year. She was very reluctant to go to a home and it did take her a while to settle down. During this time the staff were extremely patient and kind to her. She has now settled down and is happy to be there. From the beginning, she has been very happy with the food service and has eaten well. Staff respond quickly and efficiently to requests for information and I have been made welcome whenever I have visited my aunt or put through on the phone to talk to her.

I am so pleased with the care that my sister is receiving at Victoria House. Since she was admitted in December 2022, the staff have been helpful, friendly and reassuring. They have treated her with consideration and dignity in order to meet her needs and helped her make the adjustment from living in her own home to being cared for with all the amenities that Victoria House has to offer plus a carefully considered care plan.

Her room is spacious, homely and comfortable and I have always felt welcome when visiting. Thank you to all the staff involved.

My mum was transferred to Victoria House in early January 2023, having been assessed as needing long-term residential care. She has vascular and Alzheimer's dementia and has become quite frail. She has always been adamant that she wasn't going to go into care so I was concerned that the transfer might be traumatic and confusing for her. I have been so pleased with the welcome and the care that she is now receiving at Victoria House. The management has been friendly and approachable throughout and very reassuring. Her room is ample size and light and airy and she has easy access to the communal areas which she likes to spend time in - she is now far less isolated than when at home. the whole atmosphere of the home is friendly and caring but professional. I am relieved and very pleased that we have found an excellent home for mum.

I would like to thank all the carers at Victoria House Care Home for looking after Mum for the past six years and particularly in her last few weeks of life. She thought of you as part of her extended family. Her quality of life had deteriorated quite badly in her last few weeks but you all went the extra mile to make sure she was comfortable and well looked after and we thank you for that.

Once again, thanks to everyone for the love and care they showed to my mum during her time at Victoria House Care Home.

Mum was with Victoria House for three years but unfortunately due to failing health, we had to move her to a nursing home.
We cannot begin to thank the staff at Victoria House for the love and respect they showed for Mum throughout her stay. Even on her stubborn days they still treated her with humility and accepted she was having a bad day.
Mum was always clean and tidy and it was obvious that she loved the staff too and would be blowing them kisses which they returned with love.

Thank you to all for making Mum's stay the best it could be. We really didn't want her to leave.

My mum came into this home 18 months ago, she was treated with respect, dignity and like a human being. She did not want to go in a care home, but within a few days, she settled. All through Covid, the staff were brilliant. They keep all strict rules, so all residents are safe and also visitors. My mum was looked after by the best care team I have had the privilege of knowing. My mum recently passed away, but because of their professionalism, she was able to be pain-free and all the family were able to say goodbye to her. This I will always be grateful to them for. I would not hesitate putting anyone in this care home if they needed somewhere. Many thanks to all the team at Victoria House, Rushden.

My dear mum went to Victoria House in August 2015 after a lot of persuasion to leave her own home, after evidently not being able to cope with everyday life. She soon fitted in and loved the company and chat with the staff and other residents in the home, making many friends. We loved the fact that we could visit any time and for however long we wanted. It really was home from home. She was very happy at Victoria House until the end of her days and we will be eternally grateful for everything the wonderful staff did for her.

My Mother is in Victoria House and the staff are great with her - Mum is quite a character and can sometimes be a little demanding! She doesn't hear very well or see very well and the staff go out of their way to make life easier for her. My Father-in-law is also in Vitoria House, he has dementia and isn't at his best - but again - the staff are good with him. Thanks to the Team for all your hard work.

Our Mum spent time in Victoria House after a stay in hospital and we were delighted to see her return to her happy, smiley self after just a few days at Victoria House. All the staff are so lovely and caring and she was well looked after and treated with dignity and respect. The staff do a brilliant job in a spotlessly clean home and they all go out of their way for their residents. Thank you all so much. It was such a comfort to us to know she was being well cared for.

My aunt spent a few weeks in hospital and then moved to Victoria House, where she decided she would remain rather than returning to her home address. My aunt spent a couple of months at Victoria House before passing away peacefully, in the care home, on the 10th March. During the time that my aunt was living at Victoria House she was extremely well looked after by a team of dedicated and caring people, who treated her with dignity and respect at all times. Nothing was too much trouble. My aunt enjoyed the good company of other residents and the staff and engaged in the varied daily social activities that were provided to all. My family and I owe a debt of gratitude to all the staff at Victoria House, that we can never repay. We had peace of mind that my aunt was safe, happy and well cared for. Thank you.

My mum lived at Victoria House for over two years, including during the Covid outbreak, when we couldn’t see her or provide any care to her. She passed away yesterday having lived with dementia.

I feel very passionately about the care that Mum received from the managers and staff at Victoria House. She was shown genuine love and care. She was treated with dignity and respect. I could rest easy knowing the staff would look after her when we could not. I owe the team at Victoria a debt of gratitude, that I will never be able to fully articulate or repay. So I say a heartfelt thank you to them and publish this review here in the hope it helps others feel confident their loved ones will receive excellent care, if they move into Victoria House.

I asked the home manager to come to meet my parents and assess dad for admission in December 2020, then again in October 2021. On both occasions, my parents refused admission at the final hurdle. Dad had a fall and ended in hospital a week ago. I rang Victoria House in desperation the day after admission and without any hesitation, they offered a bed for Dad and he was discharged into their care two days ago. I have visited Dad today with my mum and I found him to be clean, shaved, eating and talking about what was happening in the home. Dad never once asked to come home and asked a member of staff to take him back to his room. I left feeling that Dad was happy with his own situation, concerned about my mum and that as hard as it is, we have made the right decision. Throughout all of this the home manager has been completely supportive of me and concerned for my welfare. That concern and support was echoed by all of the staff that we met today in the home.

After a few moves from hospital to respite, we knew we wanted to find nan the best home we could. We contacted Victoria House and the help and guidance we received was second to none. The home has a lovely atmosphere with laughter and kindness being heard all over, I am so confident my nan will be very happy here. The home is lovely and clean and homely, all the staff are kind and friendly and take the time to not only find out what she needs but what she would like! It’s never a nice thing to have to do with a loved one but we all feel very satisfied with the care nan is receiving.

As a family we were very apprehensive about finding a home for our nan, we had heard good things about Victoria House, from the initial contact to nan moving in staff have been so helpful! Nan hasn’t been here long but in the time she has, it’s clear to see she has improved, she loves the food and she’s enjoying the company of others who have also been so friendly with her. We looked around a few places but it was clear to us that Victoria House was the one for nan, we are so grateful they’ve made her so welcome and made the transition of moving from her own home to somewhere as easy as it could be! Well done all at Victoria House!

I could write an essay but basically we needed a care home for my nan who was relocating from another county. I cannot express enough the hard work the manager put into helping my family with this move as we had no idea what to do and how hard this was. Without her help it wouldn’t have happened as quick as it did. It wasn’t an easy move as my nan was ill before she arrived and came from hospital rather than her own home. This made it harder for her to settle however, on her arrival there were a team of carers to greet my nan, my mum and myself to welcome us all. They held my Nan’s hand and chatted to her and didn’t leave her side. From then on they have helped build on her confidence, her self esteem to help settle her in, her health has improved immensely, she is now walking again after loosing the ability to walk from being in hospital before she arrived, she has made so many friends with the other residents and joins in with all the activities. They are all amazing.

I am currently a Team Leader at Victoria House. I started as a Domestic in 1992 and have worked here through many job roles over my 30-year service.

Victoria House has a special place in my heart, its my second home and my extended family.

The service users are happy and content, and family members often comment how happy their loved ones are.

We excel at providing person-centred care, promoting independence and excellent palliative care. I have known many staff to go above and beyond to ensure someone’s last days are comfortable and in compliance with their wishes.

Shaw healthcare have supported me throughout my progression, and provided many training opportunities. To enhance my skills and knowledge. I love my job and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

I was made redundant in the job that I loved in March. I knew I had to go to work but I was really unsure on what I wanted to do.
Id worked in care previously but, wasn’t a 100% sure if it was exactly what I wanted to do.
I saw on Facebook that Victoria House was doing some fundraising for a local man and I could join in in by zoom.

When I did I was blown away by the atmosphere in the home, it felt as though I was their joining in and I thought “I want to be part of that”.

I applied for a job straight away and I joined last week. I haven’t been disappointed, everyone’s so friendly and they are literally like an extended family to each other here. I was very apprehensive being the “new girl” but everyone’s made me feel very welcome I look forward to my future at Victoria House.

Victoria House is my first job since leaving school.
I was naturally very nervous about starting, but I was put at ease on my first day by all the staff.
Residents are lovely & happy and well cared for, staff are always looking out for each other.

I’m hoping to get permanent hours when some come available.

After having several different jobs I really wanted a work place where I could settle.
I heard about the catering job @ Victoria House through a friend that already worked there.
I applied straight away and was lucky enough to get it.
Since starting I have acted up to cook on occasions when necessary.

Staff are always very positive and encourage one and other.

I'd been working in the community for some time but, the hours wasn’t suiting me anymore. I rang a family member who already worked at Victoria House and she booked me in for a interview. The whole process has been so simple, I felt right at home from the beginning. I’m looking forward to my future within Shaw Healthcare.
