My Dad has been at Elizabeth House since February 2025 , from the first time we visited to look round the staff have been friendly, welcoming and very helpful.
My first impression was how clean the home was and that it did not smell.
It's light airy and feels nice.
The rooms are spacious and kept
clean.
Great activities for the residents.
I would recommend Elizabeth House highly.
My Dad has settled well and we as a family have felt true relief and peace of mind since Dad has been there. After 5 years of caring for my Dad I can relax knowing he is in safe hands.

Rotherlea

from Nicola W (Daughter of Resident) published on 30 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Having had an awful experience at a previous care home, we transferred my Mum to Rotherlea and the positive impact was immediate. She improved physically and mentally due to the supportive, caring attitude of the staff at Rotherlea. They regularly keep in touch and go over and above to support my
Mum. They have celebrated her 'wins' by phoning me and, despite her declining health, she is treated with respect and kindness at all times. The staff at Rotherlea see their job as a vocation and nothing is too much trouble.

Reply from Daniel Rees, Home Manager at Rotherlea

Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words. We are truly heartened to hear about the positive difference Rotherlea has made for your mum. It means a great deal to our team to know that her physical and mental wellbeing have improved since coming to us.Our staff are deeply committed to providing compassionate, person-centred care, and it's lovely to hear that their efforts have been felt so strongly. We're especially pleased that you feel kept informed and supported - family involvement is incredibly important to us.We will be sure to pass on your comments to the whole team, who will be touched to know their work is so appreciated.

I had to leave mum at Elizabeth House while I had a hip replacement and couldn't drive. It is light and airy, and the staff are really helpful and caring. When her 6 weeks were up, she didn't want to go home. She enjoys having company and making friends. She's a bit forgetful now, and for us, it is
such a relief to know she is safe. It really is a lovely place to live.

I consider my father very fortunate to be a resident at Rotherlea. He is elderly, frail and a little muddled, but has found happiness and a sense of safety since he arrived.
I consider all the members of the care team to be exemplary in their consideration and kindness when interacting with my father.
Also, I am always informed if there has been an incident that I should know about, such as a little accident.
I feel reassured that my father could not be in a better place.

Hillside Lodge

from Gemma U (Sister of Resident) published on 15 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Between January 20th 2023 and January 1st 2025 my beloved oldest sister lived at Hillside Lodge. She was on the sun-lit top floor (yes - the whole roof is skylights - a brilliant design!) which provides specialized, compassionate dementia care. She was initially disoriented but staff were so patient
and kind. I live in the USA so particularly appreciated knowing I could call or email and get responses quickly.
As a former professional cook she loved the meals! This is a huge compliment to Hillside since, as her other senses (hearing and eyesight) dwindled, my sister retained a great deal of joy in a good hot meal.
Even though she had a diagnosis of Alzheimer's (among other issues) her quality of life actually improved once she was under the Hillside care team. She began to enjoy her regular hair appointments and her near constant vertigo and anxiety gradually melted away.
There is no place we would rather have had for my sister's last chapter. Thank you Hillside!

Reply from Daniel Rees, Home Manager at Hillside Lodge

Thank you so much for sharing such a touching tribute to your sister's time at Hillside Lodge. We're truly humbled by your words and deeply honoured to have been part of her journey. It means so much to hear that she found comfort, joy, and peace during her time with us-especially in the little moments like enjoying a warm meal, feeling pampered at her hair appointments, and finding calm after periods of anxiety. Our team takes great pride in creating a safe, compassionate, and enriching environment for those living with dementia, and your recognition of their care, patience, and communication-especially from across the miles-means the world to us. We're grateful that you entrusted us with such an important chapter in your sister's life. It was truly a privilege to care for her. With heartfelt thanks, The Hillside Team

Hillside Lodge

from Karen L (Next of Kin) published on 14 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Having witnessed the standards of another care home (beyond awful) and moved my next-of-kin to Hillside I cannot express how grateful I am and how wonderful I think the home is. They have a team of dedicated, professional, kind and caring staff. They keep on top of everything, whether it is the laundry,
cleaning or maintenance. The food is also excellent. The home is spacious, airy, bright and has a real "feel-good" atmosphere. The bedrooms are lovely with large, modern adjoining bathrooms. I feel the residents are treated very well and given as much freedom as possible. They are given choices as opposed to being told what to do. I do not feel my next-of-kin could be in a better place and I am very, very happy he is at Hillside.

Reply from Daniel Rees, Home Manager at Hillside Lodge

Thank you so much for your incredibly kind and thoughtful feedback. We're truly honoured that you chose Hillside for your next-of-kin's care, especially after such a difficult previous experience. Knowing that you feel confident and happy with the care and environment we provide means the world to us. Our team takes great pride in creating a warm, respectful, and uplifting home where residents feel valued, comfortable, and empowered to make their own choices. It's wonderful to hear that the little details-from cleanliness to food to the atmosphere-have made a positive difference. Thank you again for your trust and support. Burleys Wood

from J S (Son of Resident) published on 9 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5

My father was resident for 1 month here in August/September 2024.
During his short stay he had 3 falls, 2 of which resulted in paramedic call out.
We were then informed that Burleys wood no longer wanted my father as a resident because he was requiring too much attention and help. (he is 90 years
old with acute dementia) We were then informed that if he were to stay longer that we would be charged £5000 per month for the extra care and assistance with walking, toilet visits, and extra night time assistance.
They can do this as it is in the small print on the contract you have to sign.(Check it) We were offered no assistance in finding alternative arrangements for my father at such short notice. We removed him from Burleys wood 2 days later. Our whole experience was appalling and extremely stressful for my father and our family. I cannot recommend this place at all.

Reply from Emma Peachey, Home Manager at Burleys Wood

We are so sorry that you feel that you were not supported during your Fathers stay at Burleys Wood. We consider the safety of our residents our priority and on occasions we have to make a difficult decisions on whether we are able to continue to maintain the safety needs of individual resident.Following your Fathers admission to hospital and his further decline in his health, we sadly made the decision we were unable to meet his needs in residential dementia bed.

I would like to thank everyone at Glebe House for the excellent care my mum receives as a resident. The staff and management are extremely professional, friendly and caring. Mum is kept very comfortable and the staff go above and beyond to make sure all her needs are met. I am always informed promptly
of any concerns and updates. Fantastic staff - thank you all.

Review of

Croft Meadow

After a two month stay in hospital and 4 weeks in a rehab unit, my husband moved into Croft Meadow, unable to walk. Even on arrival the change was instant. The staff treated him like a human being and were very kind and capable. 2 days later he was walking with a zimmer frame (2 months later he hardly
needs his walking stick!) He is showered, shaved and dressed every morning. Breakfast is provided when the resident wants it (other meals are more formal with everyone eating together). The tables are nicely out. The place is always clean and no smells! He is treated with respect at all times. Entertainment is provided am and pm on weekdays. The management listen when there is an issue and usually action is taken quickly. Very very pleased.
