Mill River Lodge

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mother has been a resident at Mill River Lodge since November 2024. For a person who can no longer live independently Mill River Lodge provides a safe environment with 24 hour support on hand for every daily function, from personal care, meals, medication, dressing, laundry, hair cuts, chiropody,
activities and immediate medical attention when required. The moto of Mill River is to care for the residence as you would your own family, with dignity, respect and care. All members of staff, whatever their role, are extremely attentive, kind and caring and, as a relative, I have never experienced a staff member who does not treat the residents as you would want. I have total confidence in the team and they have taken the role of primary carer, working with me to ensure the quality of my mother's life is the best it can be. Each resident has a day a month dedicated to them, where the resident's care and wishes are reviewed and there is also a quarterly relatives meeting.
Reply from Cristian Diaconu, Home Manager at Mill River LodgeThank you for your thoughtful and detailed review. We're delighted to hear that your mother feels safe, supported and well cared for at Mill River Lodge. Your kind words about our team, our values, and the trust you place in us mean a great deal.

Mum has been a resident at Mill River Lodge for 2 years, during which time she has been well cared for. We have always found the staff to be compassionate and caring and the home has a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Recently Mum became extremely unwell and it was a vey difficult time for our family.
During this period the staff fully engaged with us in a professional, respectful and kind way.
They went above and beyond to make Mum comfortable and she was cared for with warmth and love. We couldn't have asked for more. To see the joy on their faces as she has turned a corner and is now recovering is wonderful. She is in good hands.....

Glebe House

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My husband moved my mother in law to Glebe House approximately one year ago. He is her only son and we live in America. Although his mother resisted moving until she fell repeatedly at home she has loved being at Glebe House. We visited 2 times and were amazed at how her health and happiness have improved.
The staff is proactive, kind, friendly, helpful and does more than I have seen in most such facilities to ensure residents days pass with with lots of social interaction, fun varied activities, and friendly service and assistance while allowing and ensuring the residents dignity. We understand the food is very good and we love the staff and manager, Tracy. They even enlarged a family photo we sent via email and hung it in her room - a nice touch.
Reply from Joanne Holman, Home Manager at Glebe HouseThank you so much for your kind words! We are thrilled to hear that your mother-in-law has settled in so well at Glebe House and that she's enjoying both improved health and happiness. It's wonderful to know that our team's care, activities, and attention to detail have made such a positive impact on her experience. Thank you again for trusting us with her care, and we're so grateful for your support.

Absolutely amazing communication and help organising a move from Essex. Lovely staff on the day she arrived. Nothing was too much trouble. The care and attention in the first hour was better than the care recieved in hospital for over 3 weeks! Jonny and Jenna were so kind and caring. We are so happy.

Deerswood Lodge

from Patricia N (Sister of Resident) published on 12 January 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My sister came to Deerswood Lodge directly from hospital in December. I was naturally concerned about this move as she was a very independent lady, but had had several falls and was increasingly unable to care for herself. As I lived at some distance away, I was not told or consulted of this move until
later. However on visiting her at the home and meeting the staff who cared for her I was so happy knowing that she was being cared for so well. Sadly she was only there for a short period as she passed away unexpectedly in April. I would like to thank everyone I met there for her care and for the welcome and support I received by them all who were always available via the telephone for any updates. This is a truly lovely place.
My sincere thanks to all.

Glebe House

from Brian H (Respite Resident) published on 7 January 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Just returned from another respite break at Glebe House and have to say how pleased I was to see familiar faces and feel so welcomed on arrival. Myself and my assistance dog had a perfect room with easy access into the garden for him to have a run around.
As usual I presented some challenges which
were always handled in a caring and professional manner and my needs were fully met.
I had an appointment at my own GP and as my wheelchair was playing up a little, I discussed my concerns with a staff member and it was suggested I take an escort to ensure I arrived in good time and would be reassured that if I had any issues I would not be left in difficulty.
I try to keep my wheels clean but with the weather this time it was quite often damp when I went out, I thank the housekeeping staff for keeping everywhere so clean with the additional work I caused them. I think the Sunday roast chicken was exceptional with superb roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. Thank you all it was a pleasure.
Reply from Joanne Holman, Home Manager at Glebe HouseThank you so much for sharing your lovely feedback. We're delighted you felt so welcome and well supported during your respite stay, and that both you and your assistance dog were comfortable and able to enjoy the space. Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mum has now been in the martlets for a year and over all they have been wonderful. The manager Jess is always very responsive, all the managers, nurses and staff are always friendly and approachable. I understand we may not have been the easiest family / resident to deal with having a lot go on during
my mums first year but they have been very accommodating and flexible. Medically not one single emergency or trip to hospital, stark contrast to before my mum came to the home. They have beautiful Xmas decorations up at the moment, they make the effort to make the home look nice which is lovely, overall im very happy with how things have gone over the last year and any grumbles are minor in the grand scheme of things :)
Reply from Jessica Geall, Home Manager at The MartletsThank you so much for your kind and thoughtful feedback. Glebe House

from Anne D (Daughter of Resident) published on 24 December 2025

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My Mother lived in Glebe House for 3.5 years until her recent passing. She had a lovely south-facing ground floor room with a patio door and a beautiful view of part of the informal garden. She moved in after a hospital stay and thrived on the thoughtful and attentive care and nourishing food. She inevitably
became more frail, but was always comfortable and content, and enjoyed her meals. All the staff looked after her with both love and professionalism, responding to her needs promptly, respectfully and effectively. Everyone was always on the lookout, though this wasn't made obvious. The staff care for family members as much as for residents, and there is a cheerful family atmosphere. The activities are interesting and varied. Glebe House is a well-planned building, with well-maintained facilities, and good staffing levels. The laundry service is outstanding. Glebe is not outwardly showy, but it provides the important intangibles: safety, reliability and love. Thoroughly recommended.

Our mum went into residential care in August 2025 and we were lucky she was placed in Forest view.
Without exception the staff were warm, caring and kind. Nothing was ever too much trouble for them and it was clear that the staff truly cared about the residents.
We as a family were made extremely
welcome whenever we visited.
Mum sadly passed away at almost 101 years in October 2025 and we could not have asked for anything better in the way they cared for her in her last few days and how they supported the family as a whole.
Forest View really is a care home full of kindness and compassion where all the residents are treated with dignity.
We will remain forever grateful
To the staff for taking such good care of mum.

My godmother lives at Warmere Court for seven years. She always spoke highly of the staff and was very happy there. During her recent few weeks of end of life care, she was treated with great care and dignity. We never had any regrets at placing her at Warmere
