Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mum has been a full-time resident at Deerswood Lodge for over a year now. During this time we have found the staff and management to be kind and supportive. They keep us informed of any changes to her health and personal needs.
We are always made to feel welcome and it's lovely to see the familiar
friendly faces, who work very hard to help mum with her care, it is truly appreciated. Mum enjoys sitting in the lounge with the company of the other residents. Her appetite has really improved with the lovely meals, snacks and cups of teas.
The staff really did an amazing job putting on another wonderful summer party this year, we all really enjoyed the tea and cakes and wheelbarrow flower displays. Mum particularly enjoyed the local choir, they were Brilliant!
Thanks again for all that you do.
Reply from Wan Illman, Home Manager at Deerswood Lodge

Thank you so much for your kind words. We are delighted to hear that your mum is happy and enjoying her time at Deerswood Lodge. It is always a pleasure to care for her and to see her enjoying the company of fellow residents. We are so pleased you all enjoyed the summer party and the choir. Your appreciation means a lot to all of us.

We attended the Burleys Root Carnival with our friend today, who is a resident of the home. The staff were all very friendly and made us feel welcome. The staff went round to check on the residents, making sure that they were sitting in the shade and had food and drinks. The staff danced to the music
and encouraged people to join in, to the best of each individuals abilities. It looked like everyone had a good afternoon and enjoyed themselves. Well done.
Reply from Erika Szalacsi, Home Manager at Burleys Wood

I have not left a review before but I have nothing but praise for this care home my Aunt has been there for about 4 months and the management and staff have been totally committed with care and kindness to help her settle in to a environment which is so different from what she has been used to ie living
in her own home. From my point of view it has allowed me to come to terms with my own doubts if I have done the right thing for my Aunt but having seen how the caring staff have helped my Aunt settle in has reassured me that I have made the right decision and have just had a call from the care home that they going to take my Aunt to the seaside for a picnic which doesn't get any better. So to sum up my review I am totally relaxed about the care my Aunt is receiving.
Reply from Marian Drake, Home Manager at Elizabeth House

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Mum has been a resident at The Martlets since September 2024 and as a family we have been incredibly impressed with the level of care she has received. The staff are patient, understanding, and consistently attentive to all of Mum's complex needs as someone living with dementia.
The Martlets is a lovely
home - bright, beautifully decorated, and featuring a large garden. The environment is spacious and thoughtfully designed, allowing residents to move about freely and safely. Residents enjoy activities and are taken out, which we really appreciate.
What stands out the most, though, is the people. All the managers and staff are exceptionally friendly, approachable, and professional. Every time we visit, we are made to feel welcome and supported. One staff member said to me, "This is Mum's home"-and that truly sums up how the place feels.
Thank you to everyone at The Martlets for the outstanding care and compassion you have shown to Mum and we would highly recommend The Martlets.

I cannot praise the staff at Glebe House enough. My older brother was admitted due to some serious medical issues impacting his mobility, he also has some learning difficulties and the staff have all been exceptionally kind caring and professional. They have communicated brilliantly and have adapted

Deerswood Lodge Care Home is multi-cultural. Our manager from when she first came said '"Remember this is your home". Her reassuring words meant a lot. When COVID and lockdowns happened, the home stayed positive. When we came out of the EU, food and commercial goods became very costly or unavailable.
The two staff have many activities available, one is gardening, a lot of wheelbarrows were donated, management decided they would have a competition, leaders, teams of residents and staff were selected to each unit. The paint, decoration, soil, plants were added. A garden party for 2 hours, families attended. The winner was announced. The event was very successful. The food menu, if it doesn't suit, there are alternatives on offer. There can be sad times when we lose a resident, I think of the good memories. I have met amazing and wonderful people.
