My father is a resident now after a stay of respite since March 25. My father absolutely loves living at Deerswood and has a great time taking part in the activities they provide. The staff are amazing, friendly and extremely helpful and caring. The management have selected a great team to look after

I cannot praise the staff at Glebe House enough. My older brother was admitted due to some serious medical issues impacting his mobility, he also has some learning difficulties and the staff have all been exceptionally kind caring and professional. They have communicated brilliantly and have adapted
around his needs so well. The actual building and grounds are lovely too. I cannot recommend Glebe highly enough, I've worked in the nhs for 25 years and know good care when I see it. Thank you Glebe

Deerswood Lodge

from Linda E (Resident) published on 14 July 2025

Deerswood Lodge Care Home is multi-cultural. Our manager from when she first came said '"Remember this is your home". Her reassuring words meant a lot. When COVID and lockdowns happened, the home stayed positive. When we came out of the EU, food and commercial goods became very costly or unavailable.
The two staff have many activities available, one is gardening, a lot of wheelbarrows were donated, management decided they would have a competition, leaders, teams of residents and staff were selected to each unit. The paint, decoration, soil, plants were added. A garden party for 2 hours, families attended. The winner was announced. The event was very successful. The food menu, if it doesn't suit, there are alternatives on offer. There can be sad times when we lose a resident, I think of the good memories. I have met amazing and wonderful people.

I have been a resident for almost 2 years I cannot fault deerswood in anyway. When I went through radiotherapy they were there supporting me and I felt safe knowing if anything I was worried about there was always someone to talk to which was comforting. The staff are brilliant from cleaners, care
workers to management. Deerswood should be proud and I'm honoured that I am in such a lovely place. There is always something going on and I especially enjoy the quizzes

Mum has been here for over a year and has finally settled down which is due to the friendly, caring staff. She is now enjoying the activities that she is interested in. She has nothing but praise for the staff and feels it is her home, very hard for someone who lived in the same home for over 70 years.
Keep the good work up!

Elizabeth House

from S T (Daughter of Resident) published on 8 July 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Our mother arrived late due to a delay in transport from the hospital. Elizabeth House welcomed our family inside and offered refreshments while we waited until 9pm.
We were able to access Mum's room to hang her clothes, display the flowers we had bought, add toiletries to her bathroom and display
photographs from home.
When Mum arrived she was offered food and a hot drink, the staff were very attentive and showed her the facilities within her room, they also observed her mobility and noted she was fragile. Mum opted to go to bed as it had been a long day, the staff explained they would help her to the main dining area the next morning.
The staff to resident ratio seems high, they notice where each resident is, if Mum decides to stay in bed they keep a watchful eye on her, offering food and hot drinks throughout the day.
Mum joins the other residents in the lounge most days where staff create a friendly atmosphere to encourage engagement between residents & staff.

My sister has only just moved to Deerswood. The place where she was before was closed down and she had been there nearly 14 years so I was concerned about how the move would be. I give a 5 star review. The staff could not be any better. I had a problem with the temperature in (30c) my first room and the manager had to go to a lot of trouble to find me another one (as floor was not finished in the new one at the time) He also came the next morning to make sure I was happy with
it. It is still hot but not quite as hot.
