When I visit my friend , he always looks clean and comfortable, the room is always clean and he says the food is good, the staff are super friendly
The family would like to be kept informed of his doctor/hospital visits
It is disappointing to see animals used for some of the entertainment though

Glebe House

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My brother stayed at Glebe House for a couple of years. He wasn't a typical resident (he has learning difficulties and was 60 when he arrived, whereas Glebe House typically caters for the elderly & frail who can't live at home independently). Despite this, he really enjoyed his stay, and received a
lovely send-off from the staff when he left in April 2026. Glebe House is a very well run care home, with truly wonderful professional staff who really care for the residents. The home is clean, the rooms are well equiped, and the food is good. I have no hesitation in recommending Glebe House. Thank you to everyone at Glebe House for looking after my brother with so much love and care!
Reply from Charlene Bickle, Home Manager at Glebe HouseThank you so much for your thoughtful feedback. Mum went into Forest view at short notice for emergency respite, while I had to go away. Right from her arrival we were made to feel welcome & at home. I'm pleased to say this is now her permanent residence & I couldn't be happier! Mum is so well cared for & she is thriving. Mum particularly
enjoys the dancing, which can be any time any music is on, but especially when the performers come in. The staff are always happy to dance with her too. Her room is lovely & overlooks the garden, which she enjoys pottering in. When I visit, all the staff greet me by name & tell me what she's been up to.
I didn't expect the whole experience of putting a loved one into care to be such a positive experience, but Forest View have really made us both very happy.

This is one of several visits to Elizabeth House over the last few years as a partner of a respite user. Every time I walk into Elizabeth House I feel a sense of calm and feel my shoulders relax as we are warmly greeted and staff know we are coming. My husband has stayed on both of the upper two floors
and always gets a lovely welcome and made to feel part of the family. His room is always clean and help is about as needed to unpack/pack. I feel very confident about the staff and how they deal with matters and nothing seems too much trouble. I feel I can go away confident in the care he will receive. I could not have survived with him at home as long as I have (10 years since diagnosis) without the support of the respite care I have at Elizabeth House.
Thank you to all the wonderful staff.
Reply from Marian Drake, Home Manager at Elizabeth HouseThank you so much for your wonderful feedback. Attentive staff, clean rooms, fresh smell in the home.
Secure for residents, who sometimes get frustrated as they cannot wander outside the front door, but the garden is accessible to all residents and well maintained.
Notices with the menu and activities are available for residents and visitors.
Care
staff assist with bathing, dressing and feeding if required.
Pets can visit residents.
Food looks appealing, with choice of menu, which is printed and displayed in a common area.
Staff encourage residents to eat, engage in activities and mix with other residents in social groups.
A very friendly atmosphere with what appears to be a low staff turnover, so residents know who can help them at any time.

Dad had to go for respite as mum had an accident and was in hospital for a long time.
Dad has now been at Elizabeth House for just over a year. I am so pleased that he is here as the care, support and kindness all the staff have given him is lovely to see and you can tell he is happy and safe.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mother was bed bound, not eating well, unresponsive and I thought she had given up when she was in hospital. The move to Burley's Wood has been truly transformative! She's eating better, has a positive outlook, is not suffering some of the side effects of the drugs she was taking and is more like
my old mum.
In all honesty, my mum is not overly flattering about the food - but a very minor issue considering how well she is doing.
The staff are friendly, respectful, professional, very courteous and always content to chat. I am very grateful for all they do. The Manager is always willing to chat and is honest and sympathetic when asked for updates, which is very much appreciated. Thank you.

Burleys Wood Care Home in Furness Green, Crawley is everything we could wish for our Mum. The staff really care and they look after Mum so well. Initially Mum did not settle well into the Home, she was confused and disoriented due to her increasing dementia, but they have been so patient and caring
with her. The Home layout is excellent with lots of space for residents to move around if they wish and a beautiful garden for when the weather permits outdoor activities. There are several communal lounges where residents can relax, watch tv or take part in the varied and well thought out daily morning and afternoon activities. The residents rooms all have en-suite facilities which include toilet, wash basin and shower and the bedrooms are light and pleasantly decorated and they get cleaned every day. There is a daily laundry service and a weekly hairdresser visits. Meals are cooked on site and they are wholesome and delicious. We thoroughly recommend Burleys Wood Care Home.

My Mum has been going for respite at the Martlets several times a year for nearly 3 years. The staff and management are friendly and professional and there is generally a homely atmosphere, not an institutional one. The building is spacious, light and well cared for.
