My husband has been a resident at Mill River Lodge for just over a year. The care he has received has been absolutely excellent. The staff are always friendly and treat my husband with kindness, compassion and dedication. I cannot thank them enough. The staff have taken time to get to know my husband, which has been really lovely to see. Despite his increasing dementia, my husband is very well settled and happy here.

My mother has been a resident at Mill River Lodge since November 2024. For a person who can no longer live independently Mill River Lodge provides a safe environment with 24 hour support on hand for every daily function, from personal care, meals, medication, dressing, laundry, hair cuts, chiropody, activities and immediate medical attention when required. The moto of Mill River is to care for the residence as you would your own family, with dignity, respect and care. All members of staff, whatever their role, are extremely attentive, kind and caring and, as a relative, I have never experienced a staff member who does not treat the residents as you would want. I have total confidence in the team and they have taken the role of primary carer, working with me to ensure the quality of my mother's life is the best it can be. Each resident has a day a month dedicated to them, where the resident's care and wishes are reviewed and there is also a quarterly relatives meeting.
Thank you for your thoughtful and detailed review. We're delighted to hear that your mother feels safe, supported and well cared for at Mill River Lodge. Your kind words about our team, our values, and the trust you place in us mean a great deal.
Recently Mum became extremely unwell and it was a vey difficult time for our family. During this period the staff fully engaged with us in a professional, respectful and kind way.
They went above and beyond to make Mum comfortable and she was cared for with warmth and love. We couldn't have asked for more. To see the joy on their faces as she has turned a corner and is now recovering is wonderful. She is in good hands.....
Thank you for sharing your experience. We're so pleased to hear that your mum has been so well cared for and that you felt supported during such a difficult time. Your kind words about our staff's compassion and dedication mean a great deal to us, and we're delighted to know your mum is recovering and in good hands at Mill River Lodge.
I give a 5 star review. The staff could not be any better. I had a problem with the temperature in (30c) my first room and the manager had to go to a lot of trouble to find me another one (as floor was not finished in the new one at the time) He also came the next morning to make sure I was happy with it. It is still hot but not quite as hot.
Thank you for your 5-star review! We're glad the team was able to help with the room change and that the manager checked in to make sure you were comfortable. We appreciate your understanding about the heat and hope you continue to settle in well.
My mum has been a resident for three years during which time a difficult situation has been made bearable by the kind, respect and friendly attitude of all the staff not only to my mum, but myself and other family members. The manager and deputies lead with the calm and genuinely caring disposition.
Thank you so much for your heartfelt words. We're truly grateful for your trust and are glad to have been able to support your mum and your family with kindness and care over the years.
We as a family have always been treated with great respect by the staff and the management and this care shows amongst the residents. Thank you for all your help and support.
Thank you for your lovely review about the care of your brother, we really appreciate it.
Very pleased with all aspects of the care home. So clean and staff always very welcoming. Any worries are always dealt with and my mother is always well cared for. The food also is of a high standard. The staff keep me up to date with anything going on with my mother. The home gives me great peace of mind as nobody wants to put their parents into a care home but this one is very good! Thank you.

There is a wide range of activities such as singers, violinists, exercise classes and games. My mother enjoys participating in these and I enjoy going to watch.

Throughout my dad's stay his condition has inevitably deteriorated and he has needed more and more care and understanding which he received in plenty. The constant kindness and patience shown by the care staff have given me such comfort in the knowledge that he has been in dedicated and gentle hands. During his final days, he received good old-fashioned nursing care, always looking comfortable, fresh and peaceful. I will always be grateful to Mill River Lodge.
Thank you for leaving us this lovely review, I will pass your kind words on.
We are extremely happy with all aspects of the care that my mother receives. All the staff are very professional.
Thank you for leaving us such kind words. Your review will be passed on to the rest of the wonderful team.
My uncle moved into Mill River Lodge a few months ago. He has been cared for very well and is now looking younger than when he arrived. He took a little while to settle into this new stage of his life but was given encouragement by all members of the team, who were most welcoming. He is now very happily involved in the life of the home, liking all members of the team and pretty well every aspect of the community he is now part of. The family are all very positive about the home and the way he is looked after.
This is such a great review to read; thank you. Your kind words will be passed on to the rest of the wonderful team.
My mum was a resident for over 10 years. It was her home and, for me, it became my second home. Care, compassion and dedication are the strong qualityies shown throughout the entire working staff. From the office, cleaners, maintenance, events co-ordinators and carers to the nursing staff everyone works to a high level of professionalism. The entire staff work as a strong unit committed to creating a positive loving experience for all of its residents.
This is such a lovely review to read; thank you for taking the time to write it. Our team strive to achieve the best quality of care for all of our residents, and it's so great to hear that you feel the same.
The carers are all very lovely ladies. They all cared for my mother. I couldn't have asked for a better group of people to look after her. They catered for all her needs. The manager, the team leader, everyone, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
This is such a lovely review to read, thank you. It means a lot to the team and we are so pleased to hear that you were happy with the care for your wonderful mother.
The nursing and care staff are so caring and kind, the atmosphere is fantastic, my sister, brother and I are delighted with the care being given to our mum. The whole team really are superb, a big thank you to you all.
Five stars are simply not enough.

My mother has been in the care of Mill River Lodge for 15 months now. She is settled and well looked after. She is always clean and well-dressed when we visit. All the staff we meet are polite and courteous and treat the residents with kindness, care and compassion.
Thank you for your kind words. We are so pleased to hear this and will continue this quality of care for your mother. Your lovely comments will be passed on to the rest of the team.
My 98-year-old mother, suffering from dementia, moved to Mill River from another care home for geographic convenience. I thank Heavens every day that we made this move! She is now happy, loved, calm and dignified. The staff are part of our family. I know every one of them by name. I observe them from afar, and the one-to-one love and attention they give to the residents is so gratifying. My mother actually told me today, "I hope I live to 100!". There can be o greater compliment.
Thank you for your review; this is so lovely to hear. Our team here at Mill River Lodge strive to achieve the best care for all of our residents, and it's great to see that this is what you and your mother are experiencing. Your kind words will be passed on to the rest of the team.

I started my nursing career in 2013 in Nigeria and I have garnered a wealth of experience in adult nursing over the years.
I am very passionate about making a difference in residents’ lives and delivering excellent quality care. This resonates with the values of Shaw Healthcare and made me join in March 2022.
It also encouraged me to get a BSc degree (Nursing Science) from the University of Derby in 2022.
I am involved in leading and supporting the nursing team to achieve exemplary care services for our residents, as well as supporting families on their care journey.

I am a seasoned professional in the field of care home management with over 5 years of experience. Before my current role as Service Manager, I served as a Registered General Nurse (RGN) in the A&E department for several years, bringing a wealth of clinical experience with me.
In my previous position, I played a key role in revitalizing a care facility that was facing declining enrollment. Through my dedication and leadership, I successfully increased patient enrollment and elevated general satisfaction levels among existing residents.
